I recently had the great pleasure of interviewing a lovely ExJW couple, Joe and Fran Guerino.
Joe and Fran became Jehovah's Witnesses over 30 years ago after being contacted in the door-to-door ministry. But they've now woken up from their indoctrination and have become activists.
This is their story.

I think this was one of the most powerful interviews I've watched, Riley. The words hardly mattered. The pain was tangible. Three people who have lost 8 children between them. I cried. The fact you have the strength and love to overcome enough to extend a helping hand to others overwhelmed me. You guys are the best❤

Excellent interview Riley. You are a genuine person that I appreciate. My heart goes out to you both for leaving and losing children. I have two children that are still in. I was born in and therefore they were born in as well. I left during COVID after 54 years indoctrinated. 3td generation. Critical thinking skills are so important. I'm from America but I woke up while living in New Zealand. Thank you so much.

We are 63 and woke up 2019 and 2020. The lockdown helped us to Continue waking up and finding more info and looked for more info based on our personal Red flags. By 2021 we stopped zoom meetings and began to study both the Bible and searching ourselves- and have our believes. The lockdown is over we haven’t attended meeting. Some have knocked on the door shouting our names but we don’t greet them- trying to fade! Thanks for this video! Regards to both our brothers: Fran and Joe!! ❤

Stay strong, you’re not alone….I left after 40 yrs. My oldest is still an elder and pioneer. The shunning is so painful but I’m hopeful,…always hopeful.

What a sweet, humble couple you are! I think I might have met you both on a renovation project in Brooklyn... So cautionary, your account of trying to raise legitimate CSA concerns with your C.O.!! And he went straight to shunning, to enlisting your children against you, to trying to set you against each other, unbelievable! I love your comment, Joe: "My faith was strengthening... not in the organisation,... but in God & goodness." That's much how I have felt, waking up very recently also. @waterbaby Your second paragraph shows how "CULPABLE, PLICIT, COMPLICIT, HARBOURING of criminals" these modernday Pharisees are. The WTS (WARLOCK'S TOWER of SINS) needs to be deregistered world wide as a religion. Registration as an OCCULT is more correct.

Such a great interview. I appreciate how Riley let the beautiful couple share from their heart and didn’t continually interrupt (as the interviewer often will). God is truly working in this couple’s life, I pray that they have come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior as I know that even though they have left the JW’s, they may still hold on to many of the lies that were taught.

I loved the letter and applaude your activism. This is exactly what ex jws need. I was DF'd at 17 (30+ yrs ago) and said from that day on, these men have no right to harm people like this. I was so angry and sad for my family as well. Its trauma for all involved. I wish everyone kindness and love. The grass is greener my friends!

It’s hard for when the parents leave and the kids are still in. When that happens usually it’s the friends/social aspect that keeps them from leaving and especially when parents leave the congregation rallies around the kids as if their parents physically died.

@Jennifer M SHUNNING is so unnatural !! Blood is supposed to be thicker than water. "I am a jealous God saith Jehovah". Personally, I am a VERRY jealous person born with eyes, ears and a "B R A I N" which, the "B R AI N" allows me to think for myself. I do not allow others tell me what to think, say, do and "how" to do things. Their, WTS (WARLOCK'S TOWER of SINS) doctrines are totally irrelevant as their new light (did somebody change the light bulbs?) revealed the truth, which truth set me free.

If you can't divorce your wife or husband if they are disfellowshipped, then other family relations should also be maintained. Disfellowshipped parents who get elderly are expected to be taken care of by their children regardless of status. I'm so irritated by this cult. I'm an XJW but still one of the anointed. I'm with the "wise virgins" though. The current Governing Body is with the "foolish virgins". Great interview. Thanks to all.

@Lyn Wilson Your last sentence in the first paragraph (par) is so correct. Sadly these modern day Pharisees use leverage through family members to keep those who saw the truth Jehovah's Witnesses are a CULT and not a religion. In this mobsters you are under the CONTROLL of brown noses and back stabbers whose want was to become an Elder, so they could control others in the congregation. CONTROLL and FEAR are the WTSs greatest tools to maintain and retain you in the congregation.

I was listening to Joe speak and was saying to myself how balanced and reasonable everything he said was and then Fran said he was a counselor and she a teacher and then it all made sense how they could be so logical in their explanations!!

Today Nicole my beautiful pimi jw wife is going to a wedding reception by the jw sister who use to chaperone us back in 1997,1998. I,m not invited ,Not because she doesn't want me to go, but she will be dissfellowshipped for inviting me a dissociated ex jw to her wedding reception. Nicole and I still have a happy and loving marriage, proof that people of different faiths can still be friends. Watchtower not only breaks up families but friendships. Justin Porter ex jw ❤️

If they were allowed to read Ray Franz's book or watch his interview online, they would have such a good understanding of what they are involved in. Like he said, "They are good people with a zeal for God, but are being spoon fed so much mis information"! He was in the organization for 40 years, on the governing board for 8 of those years when he finally woke up!

They are hypocrites, because in the Previous study published it started out by children asking questions. But once you are baptized you are looked down upon for asking questions.

So Nancy, it seems that your saying Watchtower's shunning policy is based off of a old adage. Here are some others that may help... shunning is good because, "absence makes the heart grow fonder"...or is it, "out of sight, out of mind." Can any of the teachings from Watchtower be found in scripture? No.
