I’m proud of you, Daniel for having the strength to do all the things you need to, to be happy and prepared in life, and leaving even how hard it was to leave the Witnesses. I’m so sorry that you blame(d) yourself for becoming a JW in the first place. I hope you have read books about how SMART PEOPLE are being drawn into cults. Yes, I said SMART PEOPLE. These cults know HOW to do just that. Steven Hassan explains how we can get drawn in. Another doctor David Burns has a book called FEELING GOOD. It’s a workbook that helps you see when you are speaking and even THINKING in absolutes, so maybe are harshly judging yourself, and that makes you feel even worse. The Watchtower teachings teach exactly in absolutes. That is how we end up thinking that way. Remember how we were constantly told “WE ARE DUST” and “GOOD FOR NOTHING SLAVES” and then they kept telling us “NOT TO TRUST OUR OWN HEARTS.” Anyway, Yay about your awesome career!!! Proud4U!

I think Hassan mentioned something they neurological aspect to group/attachment. When engaging in something as simple as a game- for witnesses would be the study with someone, meetings, service. Changes occur in neurological aspects in brain. Correct me if I am wrong or clarify the information
