Join Jason and Anthony in this continuation of our Audio webinar series. In part 1, we discussed different speaker layouts from 2 ch all the way up a fully immersive surround system. In part 2, we will pick back up with sub-woofer placement then discuss where you should install speakers when you encounter an oddly shaped room.

Less than 100 likes?? This video would have to be THE most comprehensive one-stop shop of accurate tips from a seasoned industry pro that I've seen on RU-vid. Period.

In years of acoustics courses and studies, I think Anthony is so far the person with the highest level of mastery of the topic I’ve ever seen 🤯🙏🏻🙌🏻

I usually ups the sides and rears with 2db to balance out the experienced levels properly. For me thats better than ruler flat in the rear. And so much better immersion.

2:09:24 When using DSPeaker Anti-Mode the manual says to measure and calibrate both or all four subs at the same time, not individually. What are pros and cons of using the method prescribed here by Mr. Grimani and that of DSPeaker? The room shown here looks like mine except flipped left to right and I have a further complication of a 2/5 opening between the far left side and the kitchen. The length the kitchen adds to the room adds new room modes almost precisely on top of two of the worst of them.

Which is better 7.2.2 or 9.2.4 when would use top rear atmos as rear surrounds as do not have rears at ear level

i have a 16x18 room. im very intrigued about using bipoles as surrounds, but i have a 7.2.4. I was told that bipoles are bad as surrounds when you have 7 channels in bed layer.

Well they touch on that point better than pretty much any video I've seen on RU-vid. Grimani knows his stuff re Bipoles and Dipoles. Bipoles can work better for Sides in certain rooms and setups - but check through the video again...

Wish an open floor plan would’ve been covered. I have walls on both sides & the backside of the couch is open to the rest of the house.

With a 95-100 degree angle, wouldn't people sitting next to you block the direct sound from the surround speakers?

Regarding rooms that have three walls where on one side you use a cieling speaker for one side surround keeping 15 degrees so pushing it out to keep the angle. My question is what type of speaker should I use for the other side surround if from mlp to wall is 4 feet 3 inches?

Great video, I'm interested to know Mr Grimani's opinion on computational fluid Dynamics simulations to plan subwoofer placement for irregular shaped rooms (JBL FLO, or similar)?

When it comes to acoustic treatments with bipolar towers as mains (ala Definitive Technology), it there a different process to accounting for the rear firing drivers?

How would you handle Atmos overhead speaker placement with two rows of seating? With two rows of overhead speakers, would you use the MLP in the first row as the measurement point or a mid point between the two rows?

What about the Dolby Guidelines? They say top Atmos speakers have to be lined up with the front speakers.

I think the benefit of listening to a real-world pro like Grimani is that he's progressed past the corporate guidelines.

at 2:07:07, i have something similar like that room. My questions is can i put 4 height channels, the first 2 are gonna be 30deg at the front and the second 2 will be at 0deg above, without having back channels. I can specify in the AVR which height channels are what, so the first two are "top front" the second two are "top middle" instead of "top rear", I really want to place 4 height channels.
@anoopvimal3313
@anoopvimal3313 3 года назад
I don’t think that 0deg is a good option. its better to keep the same 30deg backwards, from what mr. grimani and dolby recommends.
@adamjj85
@adamjj85 4 года назад
Another question, if you have a bookcase with DVD's in the room, would that act as a reflector, diffusor, or abosorber?
