back to the garden hose example. A really low ohm coil, say .13, that's a really skinny, narrow garden hose. The battery has to push really hard to get the electric/water through the coil/hose. And as a result of all that effort, the coil gets really hot! Some people say flavor is better at higher temps. A higher ohm coil, say .6 ohms is like a wider hose. Takes less effort for the battery to push current through it. Coil doesn't get hot as fast, it's a cooler vape, and your battery lasts longer.
thanks I'm new in the vaping world so far I'm loving it. Seen your videos have helped me a lot. like the way you keep it simple and easy to digest the information you give. keep the videos coming 🖒
You described what ohms are, but you didn't mention anything about how that applies to 'the eventual hit' which is what people want to know.... Why would I want higher or lower ohms? I think ohms is better described like this: The higher the ohms (lower resistance) allows electricity to pass more freely through the coil wire (less heat is produced per watt so needs more watts) But the lower the ohms (higher resistance) restricts the electricity flow through the coil wire thus producing more heat so less wattage is needed. The electricity passing through a restricted coil still has to go somewhere so it is backed up in the coil and is converted and released in the form of heat (Coil gets redder as it canno't pass the electricity fast enough).... So vapers who want to vape at lower wattages, that want a given watt setting to heat up a coil faster should vape using a low ohm coil (sub ohm), and vapers who want a slower heating up process should use a higher ohm coil (>1ohm). So..... Low ohm coil= Quicker harder hit. (Coil heats up faster due to higher resistance. Needs less wattage) High ohm coil=Slower more gradual hit. (Coil heats up slower due to lower resistance. Needs more wattage)
you mean if theres higher resistance you will need more watts and If theres lower resistance you will need less watts, you got me confused... I though lower ohms means less resistance and higher ohms means more resistance...
Been vaping a while on and off very little experience with coil building and rda just jumped back onto a dead rabbit v2 and your videos give me a better understanding how it all works thanks. I just subbed
this would be a great one to expand on with 25 minute vid ...with different coil types behaving differently on a coil test tool or showing the behavior n settings changes in the mod vs vape production and flavor changes etc etc etc...THANKS for the vid...
Hi I'm new to your channel and I have finally gotten info for my new mod Smok alien that makes sense. Even have read through the manual and learned so much more in a few minutes of your videos, thank you! New subscriber 👍
Affan salim I apologize, didn't realize you were asking about the alien yes I would buy it again and it's been nice. I'm sure you will like the mod, I like that the tank is top filling you just need to be patient with filling because the hole is narrow. its much fast to fill since you don't have to take the tank apart. I hope this helps. Enjoy!
Well what needs to be focused on is the temperature created in the vapor well. All the input details create one single thing, heat. So low resistance/highwatts or high resistance/lowwatts all does one thing, vaporizes E-juice. We need to look into this aspect of the art of vaping
Ashley Giebel, I found the video I’d seen before that I was looking for. It’s much more helpful. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uhcq39euhOU.html
typically, in the early days, low ohms did not work well because the MOD could not provide enough current. Vape companies are aiming higher ohm's now at flavour. But most of the time the higher ohm coils have less airflow. So airflow is more important to your vaping experience, combined with surface area of the coil. Higher resistance (ohms) will also heat up faster at the same wattage (of a lower ohm) coil.
Keep going please.... Total noob here looking for answers and trying to figure this all out. I've decided after 5 weeks tomorrow,, that I only like Smok T6 coil @60-ish wattage and pretty much given up on Smok coils cuz they suck!. So I'm just using Vaporesso GT4 in Baby, Big Baby and NRG tanks. Best result seems to be on a Smok Q box vs G priv or Revenger. Its all so confusing! Just when I think I'm good the damn coil goes,,, Grrrr. Then I have the Cleito 120 and Blazer Pro. Completely different vape experience even low or high wattages. Nice clouds though and less hassle, just the flavor is kinda airy. Not deep and satisfying per se. Tried higher watts, but just got a bit to warm. I just want deep long vapes with tons of flavor at a low to mid range wattage without nasty dry/burnt hits. Yes,, I pretty much woke up one day and decided to spend a lot of money to quit smoking and did just that.
nice, For good flavour i have been using eleaf melo 3 with .5 ohm coils , running around 37 watts(eleaf. coils, they are dual coil) the x4 in the big baby are not too bad if you want more clouds :) x4 in small baby becomes a straw. I have a cleito and find it gets too warm.
Low resistance means easy flow of electrons. To create heat you need huge flow High wattage. High resistance struggle flow and heat produced with less electrons but still good pressure, amps
bdp fucc up I don’t really understand what you’re saying.. the guy said “the more resistance you have, the higher power you will need and vice versa.” I corrected him saying the higher the resistance requires less power and now you’re essentially “correcting” me by saying the exact same thing that I already said? Mechanical and regulated are the same principle.. lower resistance equals higher wattage.. higher resistance equals lower wattage. .5 on a mech would run at 35watts .25 on a mech would run at 70watts. 70 watts on a mech is the same as 70 watts on a regulated so I really don’t understand what you’re talking about.
Thank you Sir. Your video is perfect for me explaining a few things about baping and getting a good pull and tasting flavor and not burning the coil with really high watts! And the differece of the .3 /.5 ohms stuff. THANK YOU!
i have adjustable resistance on my graffeti mod using a valyrian 2 sub ohm tank, i can kick clouds at 60 watts with a resistance of .35 or i can go down a tenth n vape at 100 w with a .25 resistance. jus a cool option lol
This is really useful! I’m only learning about vaping (started off mooching people’s breezes etc. But now I’m acquiring a kangertech subox mini and a crown three tank. Anyone have any advice?
For those who are knowledgeable about the topic . Correct me or wrong . A 1.5ohm reading is higher ohm less resistance vs a .3 ohm reading is a lower ohm but more resistance?
Ohms is a measurement of resistance. Voltage is measured in volts, yeah? The unit in which resistance is measured is ohms. .3 or .30 ohms is less resistance than 1.5 or 1.50. Resistance "resists" the flow of electricity (volts, amps). Use www.ohmslawcalculator.com/ohms-law-calculator to calculate ohms for a build before you do anything. :)
My smok tank is supposed to run at .15 im pretty positive, but today my mod jumped up to 1.81 and i have no clue how but it was hitting ridiculously hard lol
I own a Tesla Nano 120w, signos RDA. Can I have some tips on what kind of coil should i use. What range of resistance should I use, and why? I want vapour production high. Also, how does a low or high resistance affects my battery? Im trying to research on google about this but it mostly talks about mech mods, i dont know how to apply it to a regulated mod. Another thing, i notice that my mod gets hot faster on a lower resistance build compared to a higher resistance build. That's all thanks!
Higher resistance = Longer battery life, but less potential vapour, and maybe less flavour Lower resistance = opposite of the above information Higher nicotine concentration can often favour higher resistance.
I have a question. I think i have all this ohms and voltage things down but this is concerning me. On a mechanical mod can a coil melt or snap if wire guage is high?
So basically it boils down to the lower the resistance (ohms) of your coil, the lower the wattage that you must apply right? what would happen if you have, let say .15 ohms resistance and you are using your mod and apply a higher wattage will it damage the battery or will it explodes if you maximize it even if the resistance is lower?
eB Quiambao If I am reading your question correctly, its the other way around. The lower the ohms, higher watts are required. 0.15 ohms won't work less than 90 watts or so. But not sure what might happen if you put the watts up too high, though it will taste burnt. Higher watts also makes more cloud. Also he didn't explain at all the difference in hit strength depending on ohms. A lower ohm (such as 0.15 compared to 2.5) is going to produce a stronger hit and slightly more flavour.
GraveyardTricks thanks for the reply brother.., appreciate it.. I also have some question regarding the 18650 battery since you're more experience vaper than me and I am still beginner.., if let say., you have 1pc 18650 battery with 3.7 volts and the amperage is 30amp, does it also double the amperage amount when you put 2pcs of 18650 in the mod device or does it not change even how many pcs of battery you put in the device,, can you enlighten me about this how does it work.. thanks bro.
GraveyardTricks thanks... here is my follow questions.., right now I am using smok alien220 mod, I kinda still experimenting with it but you I love the device .., if I apply to much wattage the result is nice clouds but the flavour is not that good.., is there a way that you can have both world nice clouds and flavor without sacrificing the mod wattage.?, or do you recommend any device that can do good flavour and clouds? does the tanks and the mod is a factor when you want flavour or clouds... ? hope you understand my questions regarding this thing thanks again
eB Quiambao I am using the same mod as well :). You will need to make a choice here. You may need to sacrifice some cloud, its based more on the liquid. Are you using VG or PG juice? VG is primarily good for clouds, though you're gonna lose a certain degree of hit and flavour. PG will have less cloud but superior hit and flavour. For me, its not too much of a loss of cloud for a better inhale. Coils with more rings in them, typically low ohm ones will make better cloud and flavour, but it won't necessarily work very well with high volts on VG, so I recommend going with a good PG liquid
newbie question: is my drag mod doing right? why everytime i put new coil on it wether the coil is 0.45 it always says 0.19? is that ok? before it was 0:34 im just curuios why is it like that..BTW i vape for about 60 to 65watts.. thank u guys
I have a itsuwa amigo sub-ohm topfill tank. The coils come in .3 and .5. What's the difference if I burn at 50 watts using one or the other. Is there a difference?
Love the videos you do. .I just started on my first rdta..I been doing subohm. But wanna learn to build my own coils. ..I was told a few times that ohms law doesn't really apply if your on a regulated mod. .true or false
I a newbie here, I set it up to 75.0 watts and the coil that I use is fused cantal but after the guy at the shop change it to a new one (still a fused cantal) I am getting an error on my mod " low resistance". How can I fix it? I am using a fuchai.
Hi, so im a MTL vapour and have always used 1.8ohm. But the new tank im looking at gettin comes with a 1.2ohm coil. Is there much difference in the flavour and the throat hit with the lower ohm?
Yes this was very helpful, just so that I got it right .3 would produce a stronger hit then a .2 so .3 you may want to turn the watts down .2 you might want to turn the watts up. In regards to cloud chasing, flavor and getting the best nicotine level with minor to no throat hit. Is that right?
Can any one please suggest me which wire to used for Smok stick x8 baby beast tank tfv8 having Q2and M2 coil i want to know which wire i use for Q2 preinstalled stock can i change the wire or else i have to buy new coil....and if any wire is there how much gauge and resistance required for wire and i am using preinstalled battery having 3000 mh
That did not help at all, lol. Maybe lay-out some notes for yourself so you’re not jumping all around. Think about your audience, and the came here to learn...based on your title. You could even give a clear definition of ohms. You could at least looked that up. At the end you should tie everything together in a nice bow, so everyone leaves with new knowledge and a new understanding of how the amount of electricity entering the Vape will effect the battery, the smoke output, refill frequency, etc. I’m not being ugly at all my friend, just constructive criticism to help you get more positive feedback, and in turn, more subscribers! Best wishes...
My vape shop just sold me a ni200 0.1ohm coil for my rafale. I usually use 0.2 coil. Im kinda scared to use it cuz I have no experience using temp control on my predator 228
I have a cloud beast tfv8 and my mod is cuboid 150, i just bought it about 3 days ago. While i was vapig, i had an error as atomizer short. I did the battery flap fix and it worked, also cleaned by atomizer with blow dryer and then cotton buds. Before all of this, my ohm reading in power mode was 19, now, its .26. I'm getting confused if its right or do i have to change the atomizer or coils?
I have a aegis 100 watts mod, zeus dual rta I came to a vape shop to change my coil to alien 6 wrap After that my coil resistance became 27 and it takes about 12 second to get hot
Andrew Daly this is what I’m thinking but when you heat metal it expands and when it cools it shrinks the expanding and shrinking have probably made the coils/coil move a little that’s probably why the ohms have changed.
sir im using a flint kit by geek vape, and i want to use a wasp nano rtda how can i achieve the 1.2 ohms or what kind of wire should i use...i would so glad if you answer this kind of matter thank you very much.
Depends how much space you have on your deck also. The lower the gauge wire the more wraps you would need to achieve a higher ohm. Everyone also has preferences on the wire they like so best way to find out is to sample different kinds. www.steam-engine.org/coil That site has a calculator that's easy to use. You just need to put what type wire, what gauge, the inside diameter of the coil wrap(2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, etc), and the ohm you want. Then it'll tell you how many wraps you will need. Mess around with it and you should get a good idea of how it all works.
Just got in to trying to use an RDA and am super confused here, ok so I've got pre built coils, if I stick one coil in the rda it reads .3 ohms and fires up perfectly but then if I add another coil to the rda it reads .17 ohms which makes sense but it will not heat up on my mod it just gets hot but will not fire up and obviously I stop firing so I'm not being dumb, it's on an Alien220 mod btw, doesn't make sense because the coils in my baby beast tank are around the same resistance at .15 ohms so why would it work in the tank but not in my rda which virtually has the same resistance? Been trying to figure this out all night and am just super confused by this
non stopvids yeh man I figured it out, I guess since it was reading at .17 ohms and I was trying to heat up the coils at 30 watts I guess that wasn't enough power, jacked my mod up to 60 watts and they fired right up
Lil Draven basically if the battery releases more energy than what is safe it blows up. So if your using a 20amp battery make sure you coil don’t discharge. You should be fine around the 80w area
a few points off is normal, specially when you buy pre-made. It's mostly guys who build for a specific type of what they want out their system want the coil to be exact. When you want big clouds, more flavor, less batt use, slower/faster ramp etc, then you have to figure out which coil gives you those choice. This is why a lot of serious vapers build their own coils, and why well built pre-made coils cost more, since it takes more effort to build to be accurate every time.
@@draxxes1 2 year old comment but I’m hoping I get a response lol My coil is also a 0.17 but my tpriv mod reads it as 0.13 so less ohms than what the coil actually is, is it an issue or is it fine to keep it at 0.13
@@sleepy_otaku it should be fine, most mods have auto adjust for proper ohm. You should also check your coil once in a while ( if you reuse them after cleaning) in case you have broken strands. I had 1 of my mods change ohm on the same coil, so i double checked the coil up close and saw there was a broken wire. I replaced it and it was back to normal.
hi . im new to vapeing. i just put alien tri core 3-26/36 3mm 0.21 ohms in my tank. flavor is beautiful but the ramp up speed is way to slow. useing in a dead rabbit rta with alien mag mod. please can you tell me whats a good wire size to help this. im in to flavor not clouds. thanx.
papersly vg Not really an expert on this but metals are known to change properties when heated and then cooled back down. If you live somewhere where its pretty cold right now this may be the reason behind the change.
Nice video, brother! Could you , please, tell me which ohm resistance maximizex flavor experience? 0.6 or 1.2 , for examle, less or more resistance gives less or more flavor?
help i specifically aked for .3 or .5 ohm coil and vape store said come back in a week so i did and i get home and i put it in and it was wierd i looked at it closer and it says 1.0 ohm coil.. fuck this shit man. sick of this its a scam its not cheaper than smoking i use so much liquid and spend so much on coils and shit ima just smoke fuck this
calm down a bit, do a bunch of research, there are so many options. don't go back to those cancer sticks, please don't. I'd rather spend a whole lot of $$$ then put my family through the possibility of witnessing me suffer with lung cancer. Give it some more thought. I'm new at all this also I'm no expert but no matter what I'll NEVER go back to smoking.
Dude I hear ya'.... Not one fucking thing off the shelf replaced what I get from cigs. It's taken three months of shitloads of research and two mods and four different tanks with multiple coils, builds and e-liquids to find a combo that ticks enough cigarette-pleasure boxes to keep me off. When you've chilled off of your fuck-this frustration (I came close many times), reply to this if you want and we can try an' work something out... Peace...
+Katie Gale I'll never go back to smoking those killer, cancer sticks either!! I actually love vaping BETTER then Smoking!! ( just for the heck of it, I TRIED cigs after vaping for about 3 years & hated it so much that I through the dang thing away after 2 or 3 puffs! lol ) ...Also, IMHO, Vaping is cheaper than smoking when people get all the equipment TO vape. I believe people just don't want to spend a bunch of $$$ at one time
10,000 subs no content challenge mine is too! That's why I'm browsing videos. What watts are you vaping at? I can't get ANY flavor unless its at 70 watts.
Thanks for the info :) It explains really well WHAT different Ohm means for us. Could you also please (please!) explain WHY we would use different Ohms? Seems to make sense to me to just use higher Ohms/less power and get more battery life...
Been researching, I think I get it - fused stapled twisted staggered Clapton multi coil builds (or quad/octa-coil as in TFV8) gives a larger coil surface area for more flavour and vapour. Which of course means more metal which takes more power to heat. Given that thicker wire has less resistance than thinner wire, all this extra metal results in lower resistance. So it's not about 'lower resistance/higher Watts' being cool, but more surface area/metal which results in more power requirements (and lower resistance, which means more power as P=V²/R)
all true, HOWEVER, there is a point of 'maximum velocity' if you will... I can get a very dense, satisfying, thick, full flavor vape from a .50 ohm coil built with round wire or a simple single clapton, the idea of "fused stapled twisted staggered clapton multi coil builds" is still not needed.
I have a question so I resent let just moved up from rebukdables when I first installed my coils they weee reading 0.15 now they read 0.35 why did this happen?
@@jenifergabales8206 check all connections & make sure they're tightened. Also if your mod is a series your coils double vs if it's parallel each coil will be 1/2 itself... So if u got a .30 ohm coil & install 2 your ohms will be .15 on a parallel mod & .60 on a series. Usually if connections aren't tight it jumps all around on you.
0.15 will produce more vapor at higher wattage like above 110 watt slightly warm vape lot of cloud but a 0.3 will become too hot to drag at 110 watt and will burn your mouth.
4:19 Higher ohms needs less power? 1.1 @ 10watts and 1.3 @ 100 watts or 50 or whatever. I'm deciding between a 1.8 coil and a 2.2 coil and I actually didn't learn much but it doesn't matter because it's all different at different wattage's, or whatever. Thanks for clearing that up. Maybe.
Higher ohm (resistances) coils needs more VOLTAGE POWER. Is what he means, not wattage. You need bigger batteries or more batteries (volts) cuz ur resistance is higher.
@@derrickbernhard8380 Thanks, that clarified it for me. Since I wrote my coment I ordered one box of each and really didn't find much difference between the two in my use.
I don't build coils. I buy them made. I bought a pack of geek vape Zeus mesh coils and the whole pack Said low resistance. I'm freaking out because I need my nicotine 😭 what's going on?
69 but close enough... do a web search for ohm calculator and it will give you exact numbers. Or you can download a free app. Most car audio apps have one. Rockford fosgate app is one.
So my coils are framed clapton 0.26 ohms but my mod shows 0.52 ohms sometimes it changes to 0.45 or 0.35 why? And sometimes my mod ask if it is a new or old coil I tough it a connection thing but i keep it clean always checking for leaks i have the Pulse from vandy vape running the dead rabit drop dead rda in quonk mode, any suggestions?
Hey I’m not vaping (YET) but in circuitry I’m pretty sure the resistance of a coil doesn’t change I’m pretty sure it stays constant but a loose connection can defiantly give different readings so I guess make sure you screws holding you coils are not cross threaded or loose or even give you coil arms a clean to make sure there no oxidising by connections causing more resistance but I’m spit balling lol I’m noob to vaping but have a little electrical know how 👍
@@rafli4576 Thanks alot but , i just ran into a website called Reddit and they say that an TFV12 Tank IS compatible with the Morph 219 mod...which was basically is what i really was wanting to know...Thanks anyways buddy .
