What an amazing part of Scotland this is. On this walk, I first travel to Sandwood Bay and just stand in awe at the beauty of this remote beach.
From here it was journey across bleak moorland to the remote mountain bothy of Strathchailleach. This building in the middle of nowhere was the former home of James Mcrory-Smith, who was affectionately known as Sandy. Spending the evening and night here was like being in a living museum. A unique and special place for sure and well worth the long drive north

Thanks Paul. Been a busy couple of weeks but hope to try and stick to the one video a week motto from now on if I can. We'll see....

Great video, we did Sandwood Bay in October so it was nice seeing it on your video in calmer conditions too. Nice drone footage, I got some nice shots when we were there too. Loved the little balance beam thing you had to cross! Anyway, enjoyed your vid, you have a new subscriber. I'll keep an eye out for more of your vids. Andy

I love Assynt and Sutherland, they are almost otherworldly. I think I've read somewhere that Sandy became a bit of a problem for the MBA, sometimes being aggressive towards visitors and driving them away. Though I can't imagine that hostile approach working with everybody. 🤔

Yes that is true about him. Also went to church one Sunday and left early. Turns out here had pinched the money from the collection box! Thanks for watching Chris. I mention you in the next video as was in The Howgills and visit Black Force.

Not sure about where the North begins, but it sure isn't at Watford Gap.

Agreed. Northamptonshire despite its name is firmly in the south midlands. I reckon Sheffield is the start personally going up to the Humber and across to Macclesfield in the west. What do you reckon?

@@danexitsstreetview3273 I think Yorkshire defines it. I used to like the "Greggs/Pret index" the line where there are more Greggs than Pret a Manager, but I just checked and that puts Watford gap in the North....

Perhaps I need to get a life, but I've always found the topic interesting as a geographer. If you look at accents etc, places like Birmingham have more in common with the north than south. If we're just looking at distances, then Newcastle is a 100 miles north of Sheffield.
