Pippen exposed his Ego when he had a temper trantrum over Kukoc getting the final shot against The Knicks in ‘94. Without Jordan he wouldn’t have 6 Rings. He needs to grow up.

No doubt. And what happened for 2 years after Jordan retired the first time, and Pippen was given the Bulls? He didn't win. And I remember the announcers saying he couldn't win rings without Jordan. Then of course Jordan came back and they won another 3peat. If Pippen had not been on the Bulls, Jordan would still have 6. Pippen did well, but he only contributed. He never lead anything, He needs to hush up.

I've been saying this for years dude, yes Pippen was good, but in all honesty, Jordan could have taken any mid level player (like Pippen was) and as long as he was able to work Jordan's system MJ would have made a top 75 all time player like he did with Pippen. Pippen wasn't special, he was just lucky to play with MJ. All the old heads like me that saw how MJ groomed pippen can tell you the same thing@@luckyluc25

@@mojebi3804 I agree. What if Jordan had Olajuwan instead of Pippen? Or what if strangely enough Isaiah went t o the Bulls instead of Pippen? My point is Jordan needed a decent player to be his second, really didn't matter who it was because no one is on his level. At least 10 players from then could have done the same as Pippen. Drexler? Imagine if Magic had not gotten sick, and went to the 90's Bulls instead of Pippen.

Can kind of understand why Isaiah is bitter. That Dream Team snub was huge: as someone who grew up in the early 90's I saw every guy who was on the Dream Team as the best of that era and anyone who wasn't as a level below. In reality Isaiah absolutely should have been on that. THAT BEING SAID he should just drop it. Oddly enough Bill Lambier handles all the shit he gets way better: he just doesn't give a fuck and makes no appologies, no rationalizations.

Isaiah used to say MJ was the GOAT. Clyde and his generation - they usually pick their generation as GOATS. I’ve been an NBA fan since 1979, 45 years. There were better athletes, better this or that. But no one comes close to MJ and the fear he put in his opponents hearts

IF you have been watching the NBA since 1979 then you KNOW that Larry Bird is the GOAT. Jordan couldnt lift a shit team the way Bird Did, He couldnt beat a semi prime Bird OR an old crippled Bird (with or without his legendary Celtic team) . He actually won very little against Bird with his own GOAT team He didnt have 1 single 50/40/90 season. yet is supposed to be this great scorer, and won NOTHING until Bird had retired , Kareem had retired and Magic was old

@@julianwilcox399 I love Bird. To me he is the 3rd best ever behind MJ and Kareem but your take is very biased. doesn´t jordan have highest average regular season and even higher in finals ? didn´t he win 10 scoring titles ? a GUARD is the all time points per game leader and he shot 50% from the field ?!?! And you struggle to call him best scorer ever ? Bird had FIVE HoF players on his team. FIVE ! Jordan had zero when they met in the playoffs early on. Nobody. 2nd best scorer MJ had for 6 rings was Pippen who is a 16.1 ppg scorer. Magic and Michael are 3 years apart in age and you call him old , LOL. Bird is indeed 6 years older but MJ didn´t actually beat him because he faced the back2back champion Pistons (with a starting 5 of all under 31 years) and swept them to finally advance. If your old age argument is true, how come nobody beat Jordan and the late 90s Bulls are to this day the oldest championship team in NBA history. Jordan has more MVPs, more rings, more defensive 1st team selections (tied for first all time), more steals per game, more blocks per game, won DPOY, unlike Bird he was FMVP for each title, MJ also had much lower rated teammates. Jordan even has slightly higher FG% than 6.10 Bird and he was CLEARLY the better defender. This pains me to even type because I LOVE Bird. And yes, he had a very short career and I can even see an argument to be made that he could be in the GOAT convo if he didn´t have injuries but then we could also say that Jordan has 8 rings if his dad didn´t get murdered and he played baseball. I LOVE Bird but he ain´t Jordan. If you let me pick my perfect starting 5 all time, I would go with: Magic Jordan Bird Olajuwon Kareem So let´s just agree that MJ is the best SG ever and Bird is the best SF ever and be cool.

MJ is the GOAT. Completely right, Sean, that the Bulls roster in 80s wasn't competitive. MJ didn't gave up on the Bulls. He stuck with the Bulls even in the difficult years (80s). In Germany we used 2 say "Den Karren aus dem Dreck ziehen." MJ did exactly that. Made Pippen and many more players better players. I mean, look @ the Bulls centers. They made a 3-peat with Cartwright as starting center. No offense on Cartwright. But, c'mon... who is Cartwright compared 2 the famous centers of 90s when big men were really big men & the gameplays were based on big men... The Bulls beat all the teams (in playoff time (5-/7-game stretch) except in '95 (but MJ wasn't in basketball shape back then) with famous big men back in the 90s. Mostly because of Jordan and Pippen... and a really functioning roster where all the role players did their jobs 2 help the team win.

So exhausted with all this NBA "who's the goat" crap. ESPN beats the subject to death. RU-vid beats it to death.. Clearly this topic continues to drive lots of clicks and ratings. The fact that Jordan is talked about so much 20 plus years since he last played in the NBA is mind blowing to me and probably him too. We all saw the attention Jordan drew at the 75th celebration a few years back. Even the other hall of fame retired players were in awe of him. You rarely see Jordan or Bird interviewed these days. I think they did their talking on the court back in the day. They don't have the ego need to try to stay in the limelight. Magic Johnson and a lot of the big name players from the 80's and 90's are on every podcast or TV show they can find. Clearly these old players still crave attention.

You were dead on with the reasoning behind the nonsense. And Yes the Celtics use to bounce the pistons the same way until they finally got by the aging Celtics roster, bad back Larry. Pistons beat them as health caught up with the Celtics. Mike learned to beat them and beat them convincingly and it was over for the Pistons. That Gilbert stuff.... wow, what a fool! I wouldn't be surprised to hear him claim himself as the goat. His wires are crossed!

I think it was his psychotic will to win at anything. Not just in competition, every practice was win/lose for him. Then if you got one up on him you better start prayin, cause he's coming back 10 times harder next time, he won't sleep until he gets you back. That kind of guy cranked up to 11 who translated it to basketball. Wasn't just his talent or hard work, he was a psycho about winning at everything.

I hear your argument, but I would say that same argument fits to say Wilt was better than Bill Russell. Also you might say look at what Bird did in his first and second year at Boston turning around the worst Boston team ever.

1 on 1 - best of 10: MJ vs Larry Bird = MJ wins, MJ vs Isiah = MJ wins, MJ vs Scottie Pippen = this one might be close but probably MJ wins, MJ vs Lebron = MJ definitely wins. So these guys don’t get to say that sh!t they said about MJ. 80’s Boston Celtics basically didn’t have a small name in their starting five. Lakers - similar thing. MJ didn’t have that strong of a team in the 80’s as you pointed out. Jerry Krause assembled a lot of those 90’s Bulls players… so getting “booed” at the Bulls celebration was a d!ck move by a brainless crowd. Sure everyone could’ve communicated a heck of a lot better, and I don’t know what in the actual f*ck happened between Scottie and MJ, I don’t think we know the whole story there… But to say MJ was a horrible player…he might’ve been a horrible teammate at the beginning, but as a player… I would say one of the most skilled ever. Whoever says differently probably doesn’t know a whole lot about basketball.

The NBA has to consistently convince people that the product they are putting out currently is the best their product has ever been. If that entails bad mouthing the previous face of the league, they will apparently do it.

A few things... Much of what these players are saying is ridiculous; I entirely agree with you that when someone says that Jordan was not a great player, or that the struggles of the Bulls in the 80s falls entirely on his shoulders... those are idiotic statements. There were criticisms of Jordan at the time though that were fair and that did have their basis in reality. That he might have been a terrible teammate in the respect that he (reportedly) berated and even struck teammates for not performing is an entirely fair criticism. Kareem uplifted his teams. Bird uplifted his team. If the guys who were there say that Jordan did the opposite and that their individual level of play was in spite of the effect he had on them, if the claim is credible then it definitely diminishes his legacy as a player on a team sport. And I do not buy into the idea that without Jordan the mid-90's bulls would not have been championship material, as some have claimed. That team would have been a great with or without Jordan. As great? No. Great enough to win it all? Without a doubt. Was there anyone else in the league at shooting guard that was as good as him, to take his place? No. Would they have been able to find a good player to take that spot though? Of course they would have. This would have happened had MJ not returned to basketball. I was a kid in the 80s and early 90s. There were things about the way Jordan was talked about and hyped up that rubbed me the wrong way in that even as a kid I understood that it is a team that goes out there to play, not just MJ. I can only imagine what it is like to play at a championship level, as the core of that team did, and have your team mostly talked about in terms of one guy. Jordan is probably one of the best ever to play (The GOAT conversation gets a little silly beyond discussing who the top five or ten were), but if you are talking about a team being great, emphasis needs to be what makes the team great- and it isn't one guy. More to the point, it was especially not one guy on that team. Have some of his former teammates gone overboard when talking about Jordan as a player? I think they have lost touch with reality. Are there real things that can be fairly said of the man, that teammates could claim, that diminish his reputation or make any GOAT discussion even murkier? Without a doubt. It makes me wonder why they feel the need to be as theatrical as they are when talking about Jordan. Maybe it is because we do not hear subtle and nuanced points? Maybe that is why some of what they have said is so far out there (that is just speculation, of course).

Dude that logic goes both ways. You can’t single out a sole player in a team sport. Yet ppl attempt to do so with MJ. So when that logic is used to glorify him, it can be too used to criticize him.

It's often said MJ won 6 because he had Pippen, Phil, and the rest of his squad but why is MJ the only one? LeBron has had multiple title contenders, at least 6 , ditto Kobe, ditto Shaq, ditto Steph and the rest of Golden State, so did KD, Magic, Bird but only one of them won 6 titles with 6 finals MVPs and that was MJ. MJ isn't the only player who had a great team to help him yet somehow, he won more than any star player in the last 50 years and he did it playing a style that no other player could win with. MJ is the only player to win a title while leading the league in usage rate, a player like him with THAT kind of attention on the court shouldn't win titles but MJ won more than anyone! That tells you how special MJ truly was.

Is Jordan the greatest basketball player ever? That's debatable for sure. What isn't debatable is that these people all need their heads examined! All these guys were stars when they played, and Jordan was twice the player that they were! Jordan was one of the best or best ever at: Ball handling/Dribbling, jump shooting of the dribble, driving to the basket, on the ball defense, playing the passing lanes, finishing above the rim, overall tenacity and will to win! Don't hate, congratulate!

The crazy part it all this bashing of MJ is based on these guys emotions. Isaiah is pissed because MJ didn't want him on the 92 dream team and Scottie Pippen is especially salty because his ex wife vigorously tried in vain to enter MJ's family by attempting to bag one of his sons. It's all emotion

Zeke was right. Jordan never beat bird or magic, but they retired by the time jordan got his team ready and found his groove. I hate when people be like...ohhh jordan didnt win his first few years in the nba blah blah. Not many rookies do, plus he had a season ending injury and was still playin out his mind. Once him n scottie found their grooves, it became one of the best duos in nba history. And guess what? There was no bad boy pistons after that now was there?? Bulls laid them to rest. I dont feel bad for scottie. He cant just be happy being the best wing man in history. Hed never have the recognition he has if it wasnt for jordans hype. I dont think anyone denied scotties greatness except scottie. 6 rings, multi all star, olympic golds, helluva career, but scottie doesnt sell. Jordan did. Sorry, but there never would have been air scottie shoes if jordan didnt exist. Scottie should be happy what he accomplished with jordan. Instead he talks nonsence n disrespects the franchise. Get it together bro! Last note, anything gilbert says is just clickbait nonsence. 0 rings. 0 gold medals..0 everything. Only 3x all star. Dude was irrelevant.

What I believe it meant was. Isaiah Thomas was saying he was a great player in the 80s but loss great player in the 90s then started winning. He's saying Chicago bulls wins wasn't cause of MJ he had a great team who contributed as well. So the last dance shouldnt have been about MJ should've been about the whole team equal time. I'm a massive MJ fan and your channel so I'm not being disrespectful in anyway.. It's just my opinion maybe I over thought it

Think! That is a great concern & question! If we propose age as a factor! The Bulls still had a great team then, regardless! The old bulls squad wasn't super stars, but they were not lazy. Give Zeke his due! Come on! Jordan is Jordan! His accolades speak volumes, though no doubt! No one compares to MJ or Zeke!!!
