*He said* the reason he "had to learn how to flop" was to get to the line more. And, I'm guessing, by extension, that is also the reason he throws tantrums like a two year old. *And yet* - he has NOT improved his free-throw percentage *at all* to increase the *value* of his getting to that line more often and, thereby, being a greater asset to his team. Any of them. In *20* years! Why should longevity be praised if it isn't used to improve your skills and contributions to your team? In 20 years, he *could* have learned to play the game of basketball with fundamentals and within the rules. Especially if he wanted to be counted among the greats. But, he chose not to.

I had Bron #7 because I mistaking believed he was skilled at basketball. But then I started watching him play instead of just hearing the mainstream media talk about his stats. He can’t score without traveling, carrying, and committing offensive fouls. And it has been that way his entire career. The NBA just changed the rules specifically for Lebron because it would be embarrassing if Lebron kept losing possession from his clumsy lack of fundamentals. He would be a bum in the 90s. He is Basically Scottie Pippen, on PEDs that keep him unnaturally healthy. Even his longevity is a fraud. He is now in my top 15 because even Hakeem’s 2 rings, gotten legitimately, are worth more than all the rings the league helped Lebron get. Lebron has been playing his entire career with the most help than any player in history. The real superteam is the refs ignoring his cheating, and the league ignoring his drug use and stat padding. He is a disgrace to the game and is a perfect representative of this narcissistic, entitled generation, that lacks integrity and would sell their soul for either money, or social media likes. Lebron James is not only bad at basketball and bad for basketball. He is everything wrong with basketball today and a perfect representative of everything wrong with today’s weak-willed, pampered, spoiled, entitled generation of adult children.
@alextouchstone1334
@alextouchstone1334 23 дня назад
I had him at #13 next to Dirk a few years ago and now I regret ever saying he was top 15. All of his rings are either fraudulent or earned on superteams. He constantly feels the need to be crowned the goat by others and the media and it shows in him trying to go back and retroactively explain away every criticism of his game (podcasts, barber shop talks, etc.) Its sad to see because I really felt like he was supposed to be the chosen one and now it just feels empty because he was never those things when I started appreciating the game more than the product of the NBA.
@JamesDeanStudiesLanguage
@JamesDeanStudiesLanguage 23 дня назад
I feel the same way. The more I appreciate the beauty of the game, the lower I rank Lebron’s greatness because of how he cheats it. He is a disgrace to the game of basketball. It is telling of the character of this generation that many respect him as a top 5 player, despite his lack of real skill and legitimate accomplishments.

Back in 2018, my coworkers (mostly younger guys mind you) used to always push the LBJ narrative and swear he was the goat. I had not to long before switched from Sling TV to RU-vid TV and was recording the games but rarely watching them if they weren't live. One day after a whole shift of "he beat the Warriors" this and "MJ could never" that, I just randomly clicked on a game in my DVR recordings and simply watched LBJ from play to play. What I witnessed changed the way I've looked at LBJ from that day to this one.... I went back to work only reported what I observed and got the biggest backlash. I was a hater, an old head ect. I've known LBJ's play style for this long: his defense is at best lackadaisical and will play defense for highlight purposes more times than not. His shot selection is patterned for stats and rarely makes a difference in actual winning. He has no mid range go to move which, for a goat, is unheard of. Free throws is one color of his kryptonite, the other is actual defense against him. I could go on..but I dare anyone who reads this to pick a random game from LBJ years as a Laker and pick MJ's Wizard years. Show it to your friends. The truth of the two are written in the plays.

@MichaelCheo-cr6ks Lebron has more longevity AND a higher peak than Kareem. Lebron’s peak was 90% of Jordan’s peak yet has played at that peak for 40% longer, that’s objectively more impressive than Jordan having a slight edge in peak. Lebron has faced more All-NBA, All-Defense, All Stars in the playoffs than Jordan especially in the finals where Jordan’s best competition would be Lebron’s 2nd worst competition. And let’s also ignore how Jordan was favoured 6/6 times in the finals whereas Lebron was favoured 3/10 times. There’s only two possible reasons why: Lebron had less help than Jordan OR the teams he faced were significantly stronger than Jordan’s so either way 🤣🤣

The people who have been saying this for years have been called haters, casuals, and every other name in the book. It’s pretty clear to anyone who has followed the game and doesn’t listen to talking heads on ESPN that LeBron is not even close to top five, and may only be in the top ten simply because of longevity. Even then, that’s questionable.
@Arrogan28
@Arrogan28 22 дня назад
Character is part of the equation, character, and results when it counts, and in that fashion, to me Lebron isn't even in top 10 for me. I think if you want to talk god fiven talent in regards to pure athletism, then he is no doubt given the gifts to play this game at a level as high as anyone to ever play the game. 6'9", and a solid frame. No doubt his jumping ability is astoundishing for someone of his height. So there is no doubt he was given all the physical tools necesarrily honestly to be the best who ever played. But what has held him back from even making the top 10 is his completely lack of character, his insane entitlement, his flopping, his disrespect for his teammates, and his completely lack of team play. Iman in a video i saw recently was asked to talk about Lebron, and he said something I though was funny. He said that you can know the state of mind that a basketball will have his entire career based on the age and time in their life when they entereed the NBA. For instance, if someone is playing college basketball, when they enter the NBA, that level of mentality is where they are frozen at for the rest of their career. Similar if they come in right out of high school, that is the level at which they approach the game for the rest of their career. And he said that because Lebron entered right out of highschool, that was where he is stuck at. Iman played this game where he tried to indicate that Lebron played as some kind of sevant, and that he wouldn't practice set plays, but instead he would just call out the plays when they are on the court, and Iman said that Lebron didnt' care that the other team heard the position he wanted them in etc. And he tried to say that 'magically' the ball would go exactly where Lebron said. But here is what I think, Iman was giving Lebron an insult, saying that he is stuck at a high school level of maturity, and that he can't play advanced plays, because he isnt' capable of it. Which is why Lebron insists on not practicing set plays, and instead he just gets to call out where he wants people every play, and the rest, whatever happens happens. And if you watch, it's like Lebron has so much clout he forces all these other guys to play like that, and of course that makes them play at a worse level, cause they can't run set plays, and learn how to play a system, etc. And if you watch Lebron he is constantly cluless on defense, because frankly he never learned any advanced ideas about how to play with a team. Where someone like MJ, he came in and learned the triangle system that was Phil Jackson's brain child that he brough to the NBA. And because of this, they could come up with set plays, etc, that didn't require any communcation for them to know who the other players would react in different situations. Where under Lebron all the rest of the team is forced to deal with whatever insanity that Lebron calls for them to do, and of course when it all goes wrong, Lebron blames them, but when it goes right, Lebron claims he is the coach and says he should get all the credit, and the announcers give him that accolade despite the fact that Lebron is a complete negative to any team because he is useless in any system that isnt' just about Lebron getting easy stat padding points... People play worse with Lebron than they play on other teams, that alone is enough for him not only not to be top 10, but to frankly drop him likely even out of the top twenty. I would put guys like The Dream, Shaq, and even guys like Iverson, ahead of Lebron. If you consider the talent that Carter played with, and had to help grow for instance, compared to the super super teams that Lebron has demanded to win. I think just because a player doesn't have rings, doesn't mean they were worse than Lebron. And that is something I find annoying when people give Lebron credit for rings, when he played on teams, that frankly many people could have played on and taken home those same rings if they had played in place of Lebron. LIke Allen Iverson being an example... as well as guys like Barkley, Elgin Baylor, Steve Nash, Karl Malone, etc, etc, etc... To me if you picked any of the super teams that Lebron was on during that period when he was winning rings, and it is hard not to see that someone like Barkley, or Allen Iverson wouldn't have just as likely a chance to win that ring as Lebron. Where real goats like MJ, you can't remove MJ from the Bulls and see them have any chance of winning those Championships those years. Without MJ, the bulls had zero chance. Where if you take Allen Iverson, and paired him up with Wade, and the rest of the Heat's insane linely those years, and it is easy to see them still winning the years they won... They might not have won the same number of games, but in the post season, most of those guys I listed about performed more clutch in important games then Lebron did.. so... why Lebron is given so much credit by the media is beyond me...

The degree of arrogance to say that about your past team mates to me just says everything there is to say about Lebron's character... Remember MJ would say that he needed to play better, and that he fell short, man I miss those days. When as big as ego as MJ had, at least he understood to get those accolades he had to earn it himself... @@markettspikes2876that’s fine if you want to hold this opinion but if I can be frank, it’s a natural thing in sports to consider the question of who is the greatest to ever play the game. Sports is about competition. Why bother competing if winning isn’t important? Now, if we can agree that trying one’s best in the hopes of winning is what truly matters when we think about competing in a sport; then we must ask what does it take to win enough games to come out on top. When we ponder this question we naturally will think of a list of qualities a team needs in order to be better than the other teams they are playing against. Offense Defense Teamwork Hard work (both in games and between games) Along with these obvious ones there is also other intangibles needed to win championships Never give up mentality And killer instinct are two I can think of off the top of my head. Obviously teams are made up of players and having a player which embodies most if not all of these important aspects of winning would begin to bring that player to the top of the list. It’s this which drives the question about GOAT status. To run away from or ignore this is just dismissive. Sure it may be difficult to compare players from different eras but to pretend like there can’t be someone who was/is/or yet to be the greatest to ever do it is IMO lazy and maybe even hurtful to the core of what sports are about. To work so hard that you might be seen as the greatest to ever do something is a quality in humans which move us forward to achieve great things. Few things demonstrate this as sports can. In conclusion I will say that I welcome greatness and want to see greatness “bettered”. I want to see the now GOAT (whoever that is) to be dethroned (pun intended). With that in mind, I see MJ as the GOAT but am looking forward to seeing a player be greater than he was….. it just isn’t James.

I used to like LeBron, no, I never had him as the goat, but I would say for a majority of his career I defended him, I’m a Lakers diehard, and I was actually happy when they signed him to the Lakers, I’ve got the receipts. If anyone were to go to my social media, you could see I was wearing LeBron James number 23 Lakers jersey, I celebrated the bubble championship. But it felt like right after that championship him and his team at clutch sports realized that his time was running out to make this argument so they really started having people like Shannon Sharpe and Chris Wright double down on the disrespect to Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. They had already been disrespecting Michael, and telling truths and using certain logic at certain times to describe Michael, but then changing the logic when they describe LeBron, but once they started disrespecting, Kobe Bryant, a Laker grade, who is no longer here to defend himself. I lost all respect for LeBron James. When you have Chris Wright out here saying stupid shit like “Kobe was never the best player in the league “ everyone knows why he’s saying that. What’s more damming is that before Shannon and Chris both signed with clutch sports they both had Michael and Kobe above LeBron. And this wasn’t in the 2000s this was after LeBron had already went to Miami won a couple of championships and it was around the time he won his third championship. So the most impressive stuff of LeBron’s career had already happened and they had Michael and Kobe ranked ahead of LeBron until they signed to his company and then the disrespect got disgusting. No, it is not impressive that LeBron went to the finals eight years in a row on teams, where he had three or four All-Stars in the starting five in a conference so bad that sometimes teams with losing records would be in the playoffs . A super team in a conference is going to go to the playoffs every year. It’s not because of LeBron James it’s because of the two or three other guys as well. Remember his original super team failed just him and Wade and Bosh wasn’t enough, the had to get Ray Allen. Who is at the time the reigning three-point champion. And also that broke up the Celtics team, which was the only competition that he had at the time so for the next seven years he was on stacked teams with no competition in his conference. Watching what Kobe did in the Western Conference to get to the finals from 2008 to 2010 was more impressive than any run LeBron James has ever had on any team .

Lebron could have all the statistical records in basketball but like you said, he is not the GOAT simply because he cherry picks at times on the court, not playing defense, cruises on offense, he's not always "ON" when playing, and all the while complains a lot when things does not work in his favor. Simply put, if you are the GOAT, you have to be the hardest player/worker among the 10 players playing on the floor. It's not all about the numbers and accolades for me. You also should have the best attitude and mindset while playing. That's why I like players like MJ, Kobe, AI, KG, Dirk, Tim Duncan, Steph, Bird, Magic. I'm not saying those guys are better than LBJ. But what separates those players from him, is that when playing, those guys leave it all out on the floor. Win, lose or draw. Unlike LBJ who slacks off, especially on defense a lot of times.

The GOAT has to be SUPER-ELITE IN ALL THREE GOAT categories: 1) PRODUCTION, 2) LEADERSHIP, 3) COMPETITIVENESS (including clutch factor) Lebron is a great producer with great longevity (though probably chemically enhanced), but he gives poor leadership and he's an average competitor at best.
