I've just installed EDZ, went into overwhelm when I opened it. The manual sent me into meltdown. Found your video and whoa, I'm ready to go. This is excellent, well explained, easy to follow. Thankyou so much Shawn :)
Hey Shootie, thanks a lot brotha! Very pro and helpful video. Cant wait to check out your other vids . Gained a sub.... thumbs up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In this video I say "Mixer Presets", I intended to say "Library Presets". Library Presets do change mixer settings, which is why I accidentally made up the term. should've saved my money for EZ-drummer 2..I've wasted my money on steven slate drummer that was soooo complicated. you sir are subscribed. i will need to learn more about musical engineering. thanks man.
Slate definitely has it's place, especially for analog drum replacement. EZDrummer is absolutely amazing though and is my go-to. Thanks for the comment!
That was better than any overview of, or introduction to, EZDrummer that I have seen. Many thanks. It's either EZDrummer 2 or Addictive Drums 2 for me.
Typical users use their DAW to program their midi. You would research Piano Roll, with whatever DAW you use. If you only use EZD2 in Standalone mode, consider watching these videos to create your own beats... Did they finally add ARA2 support for DAWs other than Logic? They added ARA support for Logic in version 9, but then nothing for other DAWs. Ozone 10 and 11 were both a backward step for their mastering assistant. I have really touched neutron 4. The auto levelling module in nectar 4 is actually pretty useful of you want to ditch Waves vocal rider… all i have used in that suite though
Thanks - very helpful as a refresher as I’ve had EZD2 for years but haven’t used it much for a while. I’ll be checking out your other vids too. Cheers!
Thanks a lot for this demo. I own EZ Drummer 2 and I wanted to get some info on the basic operation of it. This demo goes a long way into really getting started, I will be reviewing other videos in this line that you provide, Again, thanks a lot!!
Probao sam neki dan i potpuno sam zbunjen :)
I was debating about investing in EZD 2 until I came upon this vid. THANK YOU, great tutorial! Practical and concise; time to load up my Sonar with its new drummer. I also Subscribed to your channel. Thanks again for sharing
Absolutely the most complete tutorial I have found on this. I am not good at looking in manuals. You don't skip any steps and you take us through the WHOLE COMPLETE PROCESS. Good for you for making the most helpful video on this topic. Thanks.....will look for more. VERY Helpful!
Very nice! Well put together too. Quick question: Is this able to be used as a stand-alone? Or, is it used in a DAW only? Thanks again for the great video!
That would be both, sir. Capabilities expand using it in your DAW. I have a pretty elaborate playlist on this software if you’re interested. I’ll be doing a live stream on DAW capabilities next week if you’re interested. Thanks for commenting!
Very, very good thumbnail demonstration of the EZ drummer VST. I doubt there are any similar tutorials that could rival the excellence of this presentation! 👍
SS - Thank you thank you thank you! So straight forward and simple you have made this "Nifty" drum tool. You have a new and very happy customer/user. Keep up the fantastic video tutorials as you Sir are very skillful and clear at producing clarity. %-)
Great tutorial! You won me over right away at 2:40 ish when you said, "Beatles and Sabbath". You just calling them "Sabbath" tells me I'm in the right place! Then , "I want the Metal preset!" closed the deal... SUBSCRIBED! ;-) ps. You can also copy a clip by holding CTRL and clicking, then dragging the copied clip.
You are a superior teacher. Cannot tell you how inane so many other tutorials are !! You are hands on.. real world!!! Appreciate you immensely. New fan!
I've been apprehensive in using one of these, thinking either it would be too difficult to learn, or wouldn't have the dynamics. I believe you have convinced me otherwise. Thanks
Great video!!! Quick question if u can get back to me..Downloaded EZDRUMMER free trial and cant get it to pull up in Studio One Artist. Any ideas on how to pull EZDRUMMER into the program? Thanks
I don't use Studio One but I believe I know the answer. There's two ways to do it that cost money. You can use a paid version of Studio One, or There's a Rewire plugin that allows free Studio One to use 3rd party plugins. Please check my answer before spending money since I've never bought either myself. If cash is an issue, you may want to consider using the DAW Reaper instead. It's trial is very lenient and only costs $60 to own outright. Rewire plugin here: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/S1VSTRewireExp--presonus-vst-and-rewire-add-on-for-studio-one-artist-download?mrkgadid=984185277&mrkgcl=28&mrkgen=gdsa&mrkgbflag=0&mrkgcat=generic&&acctid=21700000001645388&dskeywordid=39700048800210508&lid=39700048800210508&ds_s_kwgid=58700005371980883&device=c&network=g&matchtype=b&locationid=9001830&creative=452849193008&targetid=aud-571329158140:dsa-824852042819&campaignid=6730319002&gclsrc=aw.ds&&mrkgcl=28&mrkgadid=984185277&rkg_id=0&campaigntype=dsa&campaign=aaDSA&adgroup=984185277:DSA%20-%20Product&placement=google&adpos=&creative=452849193008&device=c&matchtype=b&network=g&gclid=CjwKCAjw74b7BRA_EiwAF8yHFM6-Uh41VPWOenkT9gGb1loU4I6JNFCe-pLTUM5y_bcgJaYh7WDMpRoCV7UQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
I agree. Even on a good computer I still get some lag when clicking. My Tap2Find video does have some tips on it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o1lRu55q28Q.html
I just found TWO new mental states-NIFTY-ITIS and SPASTASTIC!! Oh hell Yes!! I will presume that the file you created can be saved, then imported to a track within the DAW for a complete drum track? Can it be that easy?? If so, then I can add guitars, bass and keyboards and vocals? Oh...life just got more SPAZTASTIC. Like I stated on an earlier post-The Keys to the Kingdom have been graciously given! Thank You-I know where I'll be for the next several hours:))
ridwan putra Between the Browser and Search tabs with the Drag and drop method, this is the easiest way. You can also import your own midi files if that's what you mean.
I was just going to use the limited drums on my keyboard but WOW - I didn't even know that this type of software existed. And with your tutorials it looks like I can proceed with confidence. Thanks so much! Q: For an old geezer like me, would this EZdrummer be the one to go with?
Thanks for saying! I think EZD2 is a great starting point for any musician at any level, and you may possibly never leave it. Superior Drummer, also by Toontrack, has more advanced features. And you can upgrade to it with a discount from EZD2. If you're hardcore composing and performing drums with midi already, you may want to just skip to Superior, the price will reflect that decision though.
wonderful videos and very clearly explained. Here is my situation and question: I have used a drum machine (alessis or boss) for years and manually build all the drum tracks (kick, snare, cymbals, hihats, toms.....and drum fills). It takes a long time to build all the MIDI files and get the timing exactly right. I will look at other videos in your library but want to pose my most pressing question. Drum fills are very individual and are generally unique. 1. I don't see how to insert fills from a library of fills and 2. If I want a 'custom' fill (such as I would have programmed via the boss or alessis) that is NOT in the library..............Can I do that and how would it be done? thanks again for the hard work you clearly put in on this tutorial
Thank you for saying. I grew up on a Korg DDD1 myself, so I understand your base workflow. 1. This is a piece of cake. This vid will help you in a round about way, I forget if your exact example is covered, but you'll figure it out after this watch... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bhGnzcLY8Ws.html 2. This is a tough question. Every answer requires a learning curve, or something outside of EZD2. Firstly, there is no "step record" style workflows. I will list some solutions to your second question. 1. Buy/upgrade Superior drummer instead. It has a grid editor. 2. Use a DAW (pro Tools/Reaper/Garageband etc.), and learn how to use the piano roll. I have some lengthy live streams that show this workflow. 3. Tap it out with your mouse or midi controller (or use your ole drum machine if you'd like, it has an analog midi out i bet!) using the Tap2Find feature. This feature automatically quantizes your performance. See Tap2Find vid on my channel. 4. Do the same except in the SongTrack, see my EZD2 recording/editing video I linked above on your first question. The difference is, you quantize after recording, not during recording. 5. This can be done with manual editing by someone who is an expert in the program, incase you do not have the skills to perform with your mouse/keyboard. I do not have a vid for this yet, nor is is explainable, nor has anyone else on the internet demonstrated it yet. Coming soon, you should sub to my channel if you're interested. What's interesting listening to your history of programming drums... You could take a midi cable out of your classic drum machines, and plug it into your computer via "midi to usb cable", EZD2 could literally record the midi off of your drum machines in real-time. I've never done this, but i would bet money this is possible since EZD2 is capable of receiving external midi signals. If you were in a bind, this is possible. Hope that helps.
Hi I have a yamaha e-drums DTX 542k, with a hi hat rrh 135. Use it connected to my macbook with ezdrummer 2 and superior drummer 3. The MACos updated (Catalina) and eEzdrummer stopped working. I bought a new version of ezdrummer, and hi hat got unconfigured: in one of the PAD regions, the hi hat started to sound like the ride. My guess is the yamaha midi option to chose the manufactor is not working perfect in this new version. In the previous ezdrummer, before the problem, when I put this option on yamaha, this issue used to solve the problem. So, if anyone has any light, I would be very grateful.
If the "E-Drums" settings in the main menu cannot fix this for you, you need to look in the user manual of your Yamaha head unit. Figure out how to manually change the midi note that your hihat pad produces. If you need to know what midi notes to change to.... In EZ Drummer 2 go to Menu> About Sound Libraries> "choose the kit you're working with"> select Midi Layout.
This is Best EZDrummer2 Tutorial on RU-vid (IMHO), for those like me, new to EZD2, this Tutorial takes the time to really show how to load the song arrangement bar at the bottom of the page. Also great detail instructions on the drop down features, not too fast , not too slow. Thank You So Much !
Both. You’ll want a quality computer and/or audio interface to keep the latency at a minimum. If you have elite edrumming standards, you may want Superior Drummer 3 instead.
I'm just getting started in audio recording. I purchased the ez products. Your videos are incredibly rich in detail, but clear and concise. Thanks for your efforts that don't assume we are all familiar with the vernacular of the business. While not condescending in any way, you explain the product as though I have had a personal tutorial session with you.
thank you sir for an excellent video. I am a new subscriber. you are by far one of the best RU-vid teachers out there. I have watched a lot of tutorials that are a waste of time and your tutorial is perfect- demonstrate while explaining in clear detail. I look forward to your other videos. thanks so much
Thanks Shootie, I finished my research for a drum plugin with your introduction of EZDRUMMER 2. Your overview has convinced me that I will be making the right purchase. The only thing missing in your video was letting your subscribers listen to the final creation. Great job! I'm sure I will be visiting your channel again, for help with more advanced features.
I'm not sure of your definition of drum track here. There is no Piano Roll Editor in EZD2. There are many ways to create drum beats or entire songs in EZD2. You can record them with your hardware, find and manipulate already existing beats, or if you're referring to creating an entire song, the Song Creator exists. Let me know if that answers your question. Record beats with kit/keyboard/mouse: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bhGnzcLY8Ws.html Edit EZD2 beats or your own: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BwHj-Wjykt8.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o1lRu55q28Q.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9ha-mfk5y4o.html Use the Song Creator: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TYGFExJq2_w.html
Thank you, super demo, can this build process be done just the same but direct on the track itself ? as it would be easier to copy, paste, and edit on the arrangment window, while listening to the song...
@Howard. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by Import. EZDrummer2 will load up as a virtual Instrument into Presonus Studio One and can be used almost exactly as I teach in this tutorial. Playback and setting Tempo are slightly different, since your DAW controls those things as an example.
Good video. Thanks. I've been using EZ drummer for about 2 years and ran into an issue this morning and found your video and watched, even though I'm a "veteran" user, but as with all software, there's always something more to learn and I learned a few things from you and will check out more videos. Thanks
No. Only in certain expansion packs. Jazz EZX, Nashville EZX, Traditional Country EZX, Vintage Rock EZX. There are S2 SDXs that also have brushes as well.
you got it goin on, shoot. i'm back on the toontrack now that reason does vst's....no doubt, a match made in heaven. i had to brush up on the EZ, thanks for making it a joy.
Under the 'Browser' tab, not all of the libraries have an "Extras" 'count-in' in the second column? For instance, on "EZ Funk Masters" (which is the one I plan to use). Thanks.
Awesome, thank you! I have a problem, after I have a song made and drop it into a track on Reaper, all is great, but when I save it with Reaper as a song and name it, I close Reaper, but when I open it back up the MIDID is gone! Why won't it save as a actual EZ drummer drum track? Please help me sir.
If you have literally dragged the midi out of EZ into Reaper, I think you need a reaper fix, not an EZ fix. Do you use any other midi besides with EZD and does Reaper still behave the same?
