Wd40, Kroil. PB blaster ect can delay failure on these. My 2012 has its factory shaft. These intermediate steering shafts have been on 04 and up F150s. I have replaced one on a 2010 4.6L 2v that had an actual power steering pump and not EPAS. Being from Ohio, it was so rusted we torched the middle and hammered the ujoints with couplers off. Also EPAS unit just fail and are zero assistance. Some failed under warranty. Those drivers typically were turning lock to lock in parking lots everyday. Guessing 12" wide wheels and plowing with shorten its life.
finally after 2 years of PB Blaster on my factory shaft I'm changing it. No complaints. He needs to also tell people to strap the steering wheel in place first. if it spins, they screwed their clock spring.
I've heard of tons of these f150s having steering problems because of plows. If i put a plow on my 2014, im going to wire up dual batteries and run the plow off the auxiliary battery.
Had a 06 that had binding in the steering linkage... Would lube it, worked for a while, and then started binding again. Ultimately ended up needing to replace it
Hey bro 👋 i just accidentally bump into a metal post and my truck instantly blocked my steering wheel i had to brake it free and now its extremely stiff and got a message power steering assist fault I will check that and see if that helps 🤞
Hey what's up! Yeah I used to have a similar problem when I'd be driving and all sudden the steering would lock up for a second. Kinda crazy. But it just went away. I think it had too do with it being electric power steering and bad battery.
