Truck noise fix.
My 2009 Ford F250 is making several concerning noises. The brakes screech, the engine clatters, there is a pop in the front, and a rattle in the back. Some of the noises are scary. Some are just embarrassing. In this video I diagnose the source of each noise and fix it.
Thanks to Bensound for the royalty-free soundtrack.

Love it. Nothing like a truck with no pops or squeaks.

I love your videos on this beautiful truck. You make it look so easy working on such a complex beast. Looking forward to more 👍

Glad you're fixed. I know my old (89) S-10 Taco is running by all the shakes, rattles and rolls it does. And I dot a brand new Mack dump (4-axle) to drive and hated it from the 1st key turn. It had multiple injection points and was a PIG! So-called progress. God Be With You!

Glad to see you finally got the ol 6.4 on the road again! You have to have time, money and patience to own these trucks. I ran out of all three and traded it in before it had to do what you did. It still ran good just developed a ticking noise when it reached normal temp. I did not go back with the oval. As always great video and God Bless!

We both rebuilt pretty much the exact same truck at the exact same time. Anyways, I'd email you but I don't have your info. I just ran into a possible problem with mine. I was messing with the defuel settings in my tuner and one option was to defuel when the transmission gets to x degrees. I set mine to 190. So guess who starts seeing 190.. the gear gauge on dash doesn't reflect the right temp I guess. Or maybe it senses engine oil temp? I dunno But it showed normal while the tuner shower my transmission just cresting 190.. I start digging into this problem and found out that there is a big ground problem when installing new engines into this truck. If the ground strap on the passenger side front of the engine isn't properly grounding the engine (because of new engine paint) it will ground through the transmission and basically arc the transmission pump gear to the pump. I'm not sure if this is what happened to me, but I changed out my fluid, put in a new temp sensor added a few more ground straps and cleaned my main engine ground. I'm now sitting below 175. Hopefully I caught it in time. Take care!

Wow! Hopefully that fixed it for you. I keep a close eye on engine temp and trans temp with my Mini Maxx. So far so good 🤞🏻

I have an almost Identical truck to yours! I have an 08 that was made in 07. I couldn't get enough information from the videos of how to lift your cab off in your barn without a 4-point hoist. I am planning a rebuild in about 40,000 miles and I'm just going around extending my knowledge about it. Any information on how to lift the cab off would be suuuuper helpful. Thanks!

I bought four lifting straps and four come-alongs from Harbor Freight. I also bought a couple of trucker’s chains to attach the come-alongs to a wooden frame. The wooden frame has four 4”x6”x12’ legs spaced 10’ apart. I started with 2”x10”x12’ joists, but once I had the cab in the air I realized they were severely overloaded. I set the cab down ASAP and reinforced each joist with a 2”x6”x10’ on top and another on bottom. I think the main thing you will need to be careful of is lateral loading; my frame was attached to the barn so it would not topple over. If you cannot do that you should add some triangulated braces. Do what I did at your own risk! I didn’t feel very safe but it got the job done.

@@barntech2291 that's super resourceful! I'll probably have to pick up some wood, and a tall ladder, I have a 20ft barn. Maybe even two of those parts picking lots gantrys is my next best bet vs installing a four point hoist. Thanks for the swift reply! I have some shopping to do!

Nice work! I think my 6.4 makes similar noises. More so when it's cold. What codes do you have left?

I’ve still got tire pressure sensor codes and ABS codes. I plan to fix those in an upcoming video.

Wow so the POP sound when turning was caused by the left front cab mount bushing and was fixed by shimming it?
@barntech2291

Yes. The shims actually went in the mounts below the driver and passenger feet though. Unfortunately the pop came back worse than ever the next time I lifted the cab. I think the cab mounts I bought on eBay were too hard.
