Long term review of the Falken Azenis RT660 from an autocrosser's standpoint. Tires did a full 2022 season, half of which was co-driven in one region. 239 total runs were taken on the tires over around 25 events, with about 5+ of those being co-driven.
I couldn't wait to get them off by the end and the video goes over why. I'd recommend looking at the Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS (aka "stones") or the Yokohama Advan A052 (aka "Yoks") depending on your car and setup.
However, if you're on a strict budget, these might fit the bill, but just remember you're fighting an uphill battle with those on the RE-71RS or A052's.
Description from TireRack:
The Azenis RT660 is Falken's Extreme Performance Summer tire developed for motorsports enthusiasts, participants in track days, or any driver looking for competition-ready levels of dry traction and handling. The Azenis RT660 is designed to provide maximum performance in warm, dry to damp conditions, and like all Extreme Performance Summer tires, it is not intended to be serviced, stored, nor driven in near-and below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
Falken Azenis RT660 Callouts
Utilizing a motorsports-inspired tread compound enhances the traction delivered by the Azenis RT660 for acceleration, braking, and handling in dry and wet conditions. The low-void, symmetric pattern maximizes the rubber in contact with the surface. Massive shoulders deliver extreme levels of lateral grip, and the broad, continuous center rib provides solid on-center feel and longitudinal traction for acceleration and braking. Deep, circumferential grooves and full-depth notches help evacuate water from the contact patch to enhance hydroplaning resistance.
The internal construction of the Azenis RT660 features a two-ply, polyester casing utilizing Falken's Crosshatch Carcass design to enhance handling and stability. Two wide, steel belts support the tread area and are reinforced by two polyamide cap plies to further improve handling and high-speed capability.
Note: Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels, or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle.
Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Extreme Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. While compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage, tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced.

Came across this review and thought i would offer my two cents about Yokes vs the 660's. I had the Yokes on my 05 Corvette and I liked them initially has they had amazing grip on cooler days and for the first couple of runs on hot days but on my car when the yoke got hot they got really slick. The other issue I had with them was I did a track day out a Pitt Race and the Yokes were never the same after that and had to be replaced after a year and half. I went with the 660's and while they don't have the inital grip of the Yokes they after the first couple of runs they are very grippy and stay more consistent through out an event which I like. I have not done a track day on these yet so I can't comment on their track performance yet. But for my car i like the 660's better than the Yokes because they are more consistent.

So I’ve run the 660 in autocross and HPDE/TT. They are much more of an autocross/TT tire than HPDE. It’s not that they are bad but they do overheat easily and can have tread splicing issues when overheated, I’ve personally experienced it and it’s the only reason I mention it. I’ve since switched to the kumho V730. Way better of a track day tire. The have better feel than the 660 or yokes while being more consistent and better with heat management. Can’t recommend them enough if you aren’t looking for ultimate pace but don’t want an endurance tire. Ps I run an e36 m3.

I know the Yokes are quicker as the new Stones however those 2 tires are asymmetrical vs the symmetrical 660's. If your running in a street class with limited camber and wheel width the 660's can be flipped once the outside edge gets worn offering longer life of the tire, not so on the other tires. Wish the Stones kept the symmetrical tread pattern. Also the location of the autocross events I run are on concrete not asphalt which apparently lose less time because of the added grip of the surface.

Have you run these tires on a grippy surface? Pitt Race is so slick. These tires aren’t great for that location. They have been really good for me on high grip surfaces. Much better than the Yokes which I ran last year. I believe Eric Coffman has a simple take. I also will say that on the GT4 they were great on the street. Aggressively drove Tail of the Dragon and the Snake. They were fabulous. They are however, horrible in the wet.

North Park is relatively grippy and I didn't like them there. Or Mid-State airport. I think most of my problem was just the amount of runs I took with them and after 100 runs, they were pretty much dead. The last ~130 were terrible. Street driving they were certainly grippy enough for that even then though.

Would you still recommend the rt660s for a beginner? Im not trying to win anything anytime remotely soon, so I may as well use a cheaper and longer lasting tire until I wear through them right? Like a "learner" tire. uhhh.. i have wrx so nevermind lmaoo i hate understeer so I have to go into corners pretty slow and trailbrake A LOT to get the car to rotate at the apex

It’s good for a learner tire if you’re getting up there and have a season or so under your belt. First season, I still recommend something like just a basic all season. Having that little grip really makes you learn the correct line and not overdrive, which helps in the long run.

Need more camber to run this rt660s

I’d almost say just the opposite. Camber certainly helps, but the 660’s are known to work without it if your limited like we have in street class for autocross.

@@cmiovino they work without but better with proper camber said by falken tires them self’s
