Note that there's a way to talk the master (the mutant blob) from F1 into suicide making them realize the error of their ways, and yet this guy, a human and a president at that, is such a zealot there is no way to talk him out of mass murder.
There's a difference between a Dictator and a Scientific. The dictator wants to do their will and if you question or talk back they'll put back the DIC in dictator. The scientific will always be trying to see other solutions and have the possibility present of actually being wrong all the time. One wants to know the truth, the other one wants to be Right. Is the same reason of why in New Vegas you can convince Lanius to retreat but you can't even try to talk about it to Caesar. The general wants victory, the dictator wants to be Right.
"I'm the President of the Unites States of America" Really? I never expected the President of the United States, to be in the office OF the President of the United States, on an oil rig owned by the GOVERNMENT of the United States, which is just off the COAST of the United States itself. Lucky me.
GarlicPudding The President of the United States? At this time of year, at this time of day, off the coast of this country, localized entirely on your oil rig?
@Афанасий Сырков Bro you're talking about the New Vegas NCR, the NCR he was talking about was Fallout 2's NCR which is much better the the Vegas NCR or the Legion.
@@mrwheatthins2413 Precise acts of cruelty works, unfortunatley, especially when trying to deter criminals. We used to cut off heads and dangle people by a rope till they choked to death on their own weight. We may be able to cover it up with lights, morals and fuckin' candy floss political correctness but our society was built on acts of cruelty.
in a nutshell, basically Fallout literally shows how a war can be like and the human race would be so damaged it won't be repairable. Talk about climate change and all. But yes, as days and times go by, the FEV virus are like the black-death, where some species would live through.
are you telling me you came into his crib , anounced yourself as an enemy (wich he aknowledges btw) and when you say "ok later , gtg thwart your plans" he just lets you go without consequence ? speech 250% cause you fuckin broke his mind
haha that's a reference only purists will understand. For those who don't, Arcade Gannon is a character from New Vegas who grew up in the enclave oil rig, and the president's voice actor has been arrested because he was a fuckin pedophile.
Naylikeh purist? Lmao learned that from a top comment about the voice actor and playing new Vegas. Being a purist would probably be strictly classic fallouts and Van Buren tech demo replays
It's interesting that unlike any politician he doesn't seem fazed at all about you killing him, he cares more about the cause than his own survival, regardless of the ethics of said cause
The part of this that no-one ever seems to note, is that if the Enclave succeeded, they wouldn't be saving humanity, they'd doom it. They'd wipe the globe of all life but themselves, and then they'd have so few people left that Humanity would be unable to repopulate. It would stagnate and die out in only a few short generations, even with the vault 13 residents they kept as test stock.
I wish instead of trying to modify the FEV they could find a cure to the radiation exposure in humans in the wasteland. Perhaps even restore ghouls to their former selves. It's unknown how difficult it could be to research, but Fallout already has radaways. All they need is an enhanced version of a Radaway, which could perhaps erase what used to be permanent radiation damage.
@@ronaldmcdonaldsex-husband5624 I like to think that, if not for Scherber's interference, Dr. Henry might've been able to work out some sort of cure. He was working on a mutagenic serum in 2, granted it ends up killing Super Mutants, but given time and research he could in theory find a way to reverse the process. Sadly he never got the chance due to Scherber's pettiness and the defeat of the Enclave. Probably wouldn't happen either way, though. The higher-ups of the Enclave were either horrible fucking people or stubborn old men dead-set on their ways. They didn't have enough good people with enough power to make a big enough difference. Iroinically, the NCR suffers from the same problem of internal conflict. The only difference is that there was always a Vault Dweller or a Courier to fix their problems for them and help get their asses in line while the Enclave never did.
That's entirely the point. It's the logical extreme and most likely what happens when fascist government (Yes in the Fallout lore the U.S. made 1930s Nazi Germany look like fucking Canada) are motivated by racial supremacy. They would inevitably spell their own doom because no one is ever _pure_ enough for them and they'll keep broadening their targets to keep that feeling of racial superiority strong. The original Fallouts were extremely anti prejudice games and I love them even more for it
Legends say protagonists and antagonists used to have meaningful interactions before crossing swords instead of guttural barking about how the protagonist couldn't comprehend their enlightened and complex motivations, pure lunacy.
@@mofopeolaleye8187 Idk much about US history, but since people liked him and he was a good US general, yea I'm gonna assume he's a million times better
When I played, and talked to him for the first time, I was so shocked from what I learned that I crippled all his arms and legs, crushed his balls (the description indicated as much), blinded him, winded him, and knocked him unconscious. (Aimed unarmed critical attacks and applying stimpaks when close to death). And then I left him at Almost Dead with crippled limbs. I dunno. I guess it was rather brutal now that I think about it.
That sounds like an extreme thing to do, and I've kinda lost taste for torturous acts as I aged. XD Besides, we've got our own problems to deal with in my country. The only one who can make America great again are the American people themselves. You did it before, you can again! \(^_^)_P
Times have changed. 80s 90s and early 2000 were like this... Creepy, grim, scary sci-fi.... These days it's more about the emotional sphere and the realism of scientific development and industrial and other ones as well. We have games like Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void... A very boring game about logical aliens trying to reclaim the universe from the hands of an even older and very evil alien. We have games like Hollow Knight... A very emotional game about traversing the hollow world. We have games like Celeste... Also a very emotional game about depression and other mental ilnesses. We have games like Dota 2... A game about a very complex world being at war because of two great manipulating forces... And games like Endless Space 2... Which is more focused on looking cool than being logical or fun.
Games industry grew a lot. Most front up sales are made by casual players who want an experience they can just sit down and play immediately. It's not cost efficient to spend the resources to flesh out the game world and make it more interesting as elements like tighter controls, better graphics, and a more streamlined experience appeal to more people. Indie developers often have the desire to make games like these but usually do not have the resources to make those games as expansive as like with earlier fallout titles. With a resurgance of AA companies (not quite the bar of AAA companies in terms of production value but are still sizable without being as restricted as much by publishers) we may see games like this pop up again eventually. Think like the ps2 era which offered a wide variety of unique experiences but with a less obvious vacuum of quality between each other.
Disco Elysium. Came out in October of last year. Google it and play, it's exactly what you're asking for, imho it's even deeper and more substantial that Fallout 1 & 2 and Planescape: torment
To be fair the story isn't really deep, its just told very well. Boil it down the entire plot of fallout 2 is go get Geck to save village, kill enclave to save village + world Fallout 1 had a far deeper story (not saying its better though). You had legitimate moral issues over evolution and the price of progress, how one's hope and dream can turn into a nightmare. It even had the surface layer of everything is not what it seems, with you not being the first person to leave vault 13
@@BooguyTheAdept The VA, who I believe played the principal from _Ferris Bueller's Day Off,_ was arrested in 2002 for CP and indecent interaction with a minor.
As freakish as the master was, he was simply a pre war child whom became a post war threat. The enclave was pre war shadow government--far more danger than any one pre war human could become. They represent all of the evil of the alternate USA as well as the 164 years that had passed had turned them so narcissistic and psychopathic, that it’s scares me. What a brilliant series fallout is
I would think that while it was a super control vault, I think The Enclave + Vault Tec were more interested in if cyro statis is possible. I mean, I wouldn’t put it past the Enclave to freeze a president or a particularly good warrior till needed (imagine freezing and thawing Horrigan whenever needed)
Well I think Enclave would be interesting in male Sole Survivor.. because you know he is the one who fought in war against Chinese. Get a lot of honor and medals, remember what a US was before war and he is not a ghoul
There's a game called wasteland 2 it's was made by the the original creators and is as far as I have seen almost the exact same with some graphical changes and a slightly different theme.
The president of the United fucking states of america who did you think I was talking about?! Who the f- What?! I should kick your fucking ass, who is this?!
The master tried unifying the wasteland under supermutant rule while the enclave tried cleansing the wasteland from its irradiated inhabitants and mutants and then repopulating it
Yes I have heard of this virus, tell me more No I do not know what this virus is Yes I've totally heard of this fringe virus (sarcastic) Tell me about this virus later
I kinda preferred the Fallout 1 antagonists to Fallout 2. With the master, he's intimidating and a monster, but his plan makes sense. Super mutants are stronger, tougher, live longer, are immune to radiation, and retain their intelligence if the subject is not irradiated. The enclave just wants to straight up KILL what is MOST of the population because.... Weird kind of racism, i guess.
@@person9313 they're still doing that for no REAL reason. It's not nearly as compelling as the master. If the Enclave was the real USA, they'd simply imperialism the West Coast. But no. NCR beat them to that.
@@absolutezerochill2700 the usa in fallout was far more extreme than our one. besides, as stupid and awful as their excuses are, it's simply what he believes in. the master himself claims that anybody who doesn't submit will die anyways, it's just the other end of a extreme with richardson. i think the master is more compelling as he provides a (half) pacificist solution to the same "problem".
“I am the president of the united states!” “Oh. Good. Just wanted to make sure.” Blows his brains out before massacring every person he can come across before leaving a nuke and heading off on a tanker to leave no loose ends
Its funny how the Enclave are so incredibly powerful yet so incredibly dumb at the same time. How did these people manage to be destroyed so thoroughly on the West Coast and the East Coast? Obviously they're just the generic villains but damn, its almost immersion breaking how badly they've bungled surviving the apocalypse.
The only explanation I could think of is technology. The problem is that Bethesda managed to trivialize the plasma, laser and the power armor, but in this game, especially during the New Reno dialogues, you realize how powerful that technology is. Search for "West Side Massacre"
Giving out *every* last bit of information about the Project to an intruder. The wastelanders may be less articulate, but they are sure as hell smarter.
@enderofbarts I mean, he did kind of think the chosen one was just an ignorant soldier, so he just tried to educate them on stuff that was still classified for only the enclave...
@@spagootest2185 Not really you tell the master how his plan would fail he cant take it he wasted so many years of his life, so many people died because of his plan that at the end would't succed so he kills himself
to be fair that president was an AI that became self-aware and based it peronality on data of previous known president...heck look at his name, and my mom said that it just sounded like he was just saying stuff to try and make himself sound important, and failed at it.
The thing is, he's largely not wrong; as we know it almost every single vault that experienced mass casualties was intended to do so from it's conception, save for a few exceptions. In other words, _the game was rigged from the start._
Eden is a usurper of the ashes of Richardson's obliterated mantle. One thing I don't understand is why Autumn is merely a colonel and not Secretary of Defense.
I love how “sane” He is like the one of the SS officers explaining calmly why the holocaust was necessary. Same with the rest of the Enclave they seem like normal people and it is disturbing.
That Is from your characters statistics If you meet the criteria Ex Hight enought Intellect or speech you get extra Dialogue I belive New Vegas has that system also.
@giancarlo It seems they are using "FALLOUT2 HIGH RESOLUTION PATCH", it allows using higher resolutions and some extra options not present in the original fallout 2. Also there is the F2 restoration patch and some more patches/mods. There is a list in: www.nma-fallout.com > downloads > fallout 2
seems pretty on point tbh have you seen what the people in bethesda fallouts look like? hideous barely human mutants and im not even talking about the ghouls
