I wasn't originally planning to make this video because I expected it to be more or less the same as the flamer, which means:
1) standing around to get them to bunch around you so you can retreat and shoot them
2) rocket launcher is 35-100 IIRC so you'll likely need 2 hits unless you're really lucky
Worse, explosive rockets generally have knockback, which makes clumping stuff a bit harder. The knockback did provide the hilarious visual of one floater sliding several hexes away while the other one slides about double the distance. Slowly, as if we're playing curling with floaters.
Anyway, I decided to record this in case it turned out great. While I still conclude that the rocket launcher isn't a great weapon, it's immensely satisfying to see them blown completely to bits, so it was worth the small amount of trouble to set up this recording.
I don't really have anything else I can think of that I want to record for this. The closest would be a solo assault on Navarro on Hard? But that in itself is not terribly interesting if you're playing this intelligently. We'll see how I feel. @@redrobotmonkey All it takes is a working brain and an understanding of Fallout 2 mechanics. The Lifegiver perk gives you +4 HP, you can get the first rank of it at Level 12,and a second rank of it at Level 15. That already gives you +4x3 = 12 HP for levels 12 to 14, and from Level 15 to 99, that's +8x85 = 680. So taking Lifegiver at Levels 12 and 15 for my Perks = +692 HP. I started with Strength 4, Endurance 7. Initial HP is 15 + Strength + (2x Endurance), which starts me with 15+4+(2x7) = 19+14 = 33. HP per level gain is Endurance/2 (rounded down) +2 = so 5 HP a level. 98x5 = 490. So if I wasn't capped at 999 HP, I'd actually have 33 as my base + 490 from level ups + 692 from Lifegiver = 1215. This isn't even factoring that I got Gain Endurance at some point to raise my Endurance to 8, which would then increase my HP per level up to 6 instead of 5. Did it suck trading two perks at Levels 12 and 15 for Lifegiver? Yes. I beat the game at Lv29, so if you didn't want to suffer spending the Lifegiver perks so early, that's less 8x18 = 144 HP, so even if I started taking Lifegiver at Level 30, I would have only ended up with 1215-144=1071, which would still put me at 1071 HP, which would still result in 999. I didn't think to do the math back then while playing though, so I did take Lifegiver earlier. If your next question is how I got to level 99 without a trainer, there's two easter eggs that are unlocked after postgame that you can use to get as much free experience as you want, without having to grind. Yes, I used one of them to get to Level 99. I wanted to see what my ideal Lv99 character would look like.
