Fallout 2: Solo Lv30 - Frontal Assault on Enclave Oil Rig (Normal difficulty) [MISERABLE FAILURE] 

@holydiver5196 suggested taking out the Enclave Oil Rig. I was not confident. My character, as I show off at the start, is really not built for combat. I don't even have a tagged weapon skill and one of my other traits is Bloody Mess. Still, I've never actually tried it, why not give it a try, right?
I did. Holy Diver, I hate you so much right now, lol.
Jokes aside, this is my 5th try. The others:
1 - cancelled because I noticed I was playing on Wimpy combat difficulty
2 - died in the Reactor section
3 - finished in 2 hours 22 minutes, but RU-vid blocked in on account of the music being a DMCA of Warner Brothers' Birds of Prey S01E13 (YEAH RIGHT). Did not care to dispute it, also I'm not an editing guy so I wasn't interested in figuring out how to mute the offending section and reupload it.
EDIT: I actually found a way to mute the section and RU-vid just claimed another section lol. If anyone actually wants to sit through 2.33 hours of silent action, let me know and I'll upload it completely without the audio.
4 - died in the Barracks section
This run is a mirror of the 4th, and I die in pretty much the same way, which is being overrun by the group of 10 Enclave goons in power armour coming from that one big room there. I don't see how you'd win without some cheese, unless some of them just blank out and don't pursue you. Maybe if you have a Fast Shot character using the Bozar and 2 ranks of Action Boy? You could at least hope to kill 3 enemies per turn, which would improve your odds dramatically. You can already see how bad it can get just fighting the turrets at the start too. All it takes is a few good crits from the enemy to ruin your day.
Things I could do better to improve my odds:
1) Grind more levels - Chitsa was already level 28 when I was here, but I decided to get her a few more levels for some extra perks. I only lasted getting her to level 30. The fights themselves are fine, but I got very bored clicking around the world map looking for random encounters.
Also, even the easiest source of this (roaming the desert between Navarro and New Reno for floaters and centaurs) only earns you 3000-4000 experience per fight. I'm already level 30, so that's 30,000+ experience per level needed, which means 10+ fights for a level, and thus 30+ fights for a single perk. Ugh.
Also please, no suggestions of using a trainer or hacking experience in some way. I don't want to deal with those, plus I already get enough random stupid comments about cheating on my videos.
2) Bring an extra Bozar - I should have done this, and it's easy enough to do.
3) Use combat drugs - I didn't use them until the fight against Horrigan in run 3, and I'd like to continue avoiding it. We'll see I guess. I did just look at wikis and I just noticed that I can get cookies from Rose at Modoc which give +1 AP for 15 minutes. It's 1000 caps for one, which I can easily afford a few of, and I mostly need it for the Barracks anyway.
4) Build an actual combat character to tackle this - not happening, I don't quite feel like playing that much Fallout 2 right now. I just boot up Fallout 2 from time to time to shoot things with my favourite guns, I don't quite feel like going through the quest treadmill again.
5) Abuse Quick Pockets for healing - I'm definitely aware I can just open my inventory with it during combat for 2 AP and use as many stim packs as I like to heal to full. However, that basically trivializes everything with enough healing (as long as you don't get crippled or killed), so I don't see a point to winning that way. That said, the only time I cleared the Oil Rig, I still had to abuse Quick Pockets because fighting Frank Horrigan AND the Enclave Troopers at the same time was impossible for the same reason why I'm dying here, but at least that was at the end, and I didn't feel like just giving up then.6) Leaving the Barracks to reset enemy aggro state - way too cheap for my taste.
7) Start the fight in the Barracks from another position - You could argue that maybe I should start the fight somewhere else instead of just shooting the turret at the entrance. That kind of makes frontal assault not very 'frontal', so I'm not into that either, especially when I'm not limiting myself to inferior weaponry.
... and that's all the ideas I have. I'm honestly a bit too annoyed to play more Fallout 2 right now, though it's really thanks to RU-vid/Warner Brothers and the copyright garbage as well as how annoyingly difficult it seems to mess with m4a audio.
I'm open to suggestions how I could do better, so do let me know if there's any other tricks I could be using here.
