From watching Gameranx for years, all these grains of salt are starting to add up

I think part of the issue is that so many people were unable to get the ps5 so long after the release, that it does not feel like it’s been nearly long enough to be introducing a new console.

As somebody who just got their ps5 last year for spiderman 2, I won’t have any interest in an upgrade for awhile

I think 30fps lock is more due to poor optimization than hardware limitations. The PS5 Pro isn’t wanted because we’re only just now moving out of every game having a controversy because there won’t be a PS4 release. The PS5 launch was so bad that some are only just now getting theirs.

I'm glad Todd Howard mentioned the developers being hard at work on the next "Elder Scrolls" project. Hopefully that means they'll be able to stick to that Fall 2167 release date. 😑

It really doesn’t matter how you wanna tie in New Vegas to the show. The point is why the hell would you not include factions from half the fanbase’s favorite game. The NCR is an awesome faction from RPGs as a whole. And it would have been equally sick to see NCR rangers in live action as it is for BoS. Let’s be honest, that armor is just badass and you can’t deny it.

The show gave Fallout 4 a canon ending, since the Brotherhood of Steel survive the events of the game. You can see their airship in the TV show.

wish i could see a tour of the room! i have a similar design for my game room/office and having a hard time tieing together decor it seems too dark in my room.

Hopefully the Fallout show will spark a New Vegas Remake.

A good comment I saw elsewhere is "When you make something your whole personality, anything that changes about it would feel like a personal attack." I think that could really apply to the few I've seen be upset about some of the show's details.

Re: KCD2. I'm both excited and nervous for the sequel. Excited because the original was a great game, that (still) looks great and had strong writing and I really loved the emphasis on realism. But that ladder part of the equation is where the uneasiness sets in. One of my favorite aspects about the original KCD was the feeling of progression. The game's combat system is pretty unique and Henry is terrible at fighting to begin with. You get rocked early and often before you put the work in. The feeling of finally having Henry "get good" and mastering the combat was so dang rewarding. And there are other areas of Henry's development that sparked the same feeling. I mean, there was literally a side mission so Henry could learn to read. So, now that Henry has accomplished those things, are we going to lose those rewarding progression milestones in KCD2? It's one thing to add a sword skill to a base skillset that's already accomplished. It's another to become a master swordsman when you start from a place of never having swung one.

I can understand some of the confusion surrounding the chalkboard(it didn’t have the best drawing) but at the same time, the reaction to it was extremely overblown. It’s really foolish to jump to conclusions before the second half of the story is out.

I really enjoyed the Fallout show. I did have a double take at the dates from that chalkboard scene, but remembered how timelines worked... especially when Lucy's classroom showed 2077 with the nuke right over it and not adjacent to it. New Vegas is my favorite of the games and I feel like everything is still intact. Curious to see if they will make one of the endings canon, my guess would be the House winning which further led to issues with NCR that compounded the fall of Shady Sands.

A PS5 Pro only makes sense if Sony is set to keep raising that technical and graphical bar for its exclusive titles. The problem of being outran by technological advancements only applies to smaller budget studios and indie groups. Even more interesting is the idea that this is a symptom of reaching a technological singularity, the theory that human ingenuity will lose control to the constantly raising speed of technological advancement.

The Fallout show is fire!

If you wait til the end of the credits on the last episode of the Fallout show, it shows a blinking sign that says New Vegas. I got excited because I felt like that was either a shout out or maybe that might be what they do next season. Either way that shows that they weren't ignoring the New Vegas part of the story.

Concerning "upgraded consoles" I'm in the camp that just wants fun games. Your game console could do 8k hyper realistic details but if the actually game sucks or is boring then why would I even care?

The whole thing was people missed some Lore that was presented in the fallout tv show, likely because they didnt realise the context at the time and went solely by the chalkboard assuming the nuke symbol was the "fall of shady sands". It wasnt.. in fact Maximus told us before this that the bomb at Shady sands went off 12 years ago (2284) which is after the events in NV. The "Fall of Shady Sands" actually refers to when the NCR and the Legion started their war. As 2277 is when the first battle for Hoover dam occurred. This sparking the war between them and Im going to guess the war did not go so well for the NCR.

People are 100% underrating how amazing the PS5 Pro PSSR tech will be. PS4 to PS4 Pro everyone had already seen the difference between 1080p and 4k UHD so they already knew how amazing 4k is. I wouldn't say the majority of people have experienced how amazing upscaling and frame generation technology can be, it's not used in TV or movies, it's a gamer specific thing that mostly only applies to higher end gaming PC's. Once the masses see how incredible it is for the PS5 Pro to take an older title, upsample the resolution to 4k and double the framerate from 30 to 60 they'll get it and it will be glorious.

It looked like people were claiming that Howard was shitting on New Vegas since he had nothing to do with it and this was his way of trashing it.

I want to bring up the timeline thing, they messed up by not putting the year where the bomb went off but when you think about it, makes sense with how old the two characters were when they were in shady sands. (the characters seem to be around 18 and 20sh respectively so shady being blown up 14-15 years ago makes sense unlike it being 19 when the characters seem to be younger than that XD

A ps5 pro is not needed at all. We have hit a graphic limmit that has no need to increase. I just wan't good stories. I never buy pro or slim versions. I just wait for the legit next gen release and I dont see that happening for 5 years or so at least.

Is there a Fallout game that never did some kind of retcon in some way? Not gonna change with a show. Just expect major changes to be done just to translate game mechanics to a "real life" equivalent. (I'm pretty sure that the big giant bag for power armor BoS are still not big enough to fit all what you can store on you in the games anyway)

I had a similar thought about the Fallout series: when even the robots all say they’re not 100% sure about the date, there could very well be mistakes on exactly what year anything is.

I really don't care about the show being canon or not. I care about the show being a good thing on it's own merits, and that is very much the case afaic. Didn't even know it is apparently all canon, that's just a bonus.

It just blows my mind that people are still running with the "PS5 has yet provide next gen-quality games" rhetoric when practically ALL of Sony's first party releases have had next-gen features such as consistent 60fps, ray tracing, performance mode options, etc. Why that quality isn't consistent across the board? Well, apparently developing for one platform seems to result in a better product, something exclusivity naysayers should take into account, but I digress. As for the question of whether or not the PS5 is needed. Well, that depends on the consumer, doesn't it? If one is satisfied with the base PS5, great, but there are others who are thinking differently. As for a developer's perspective, I guess a few anecdotal accounts from the "the PS5 is not needed" mindset is cementing enough for some. Though I imagine said devs have yet to get their hands on the development kits, but again, I digress.

In regards to lack of enthusiasm for the ps5 pro. It's hard for for people to get hyped when so many just got a ps5 within the last year. I think the shortage ended about a year or so ago. Like this generation had a very delayed start. It's kinda hard for people to get excited for the next thing when they just got their hands on the current thing.

What pisses me off is the fact the show states the fall of sandy shores is before the bomb blows up. In the interview Todd did to calm the fans worrying about it meaning new vegas isn’t canon because they can’t follow visual storytelling ruined the reveal they’d have made in the second season of the show. The story of that bomb would’ve continued in season 2 and it would’ve been shown in more detail. After all the ghoul is searching for his wife so she’ll be out there somewhere and probably had something to do with it considering creating the end of the world in the first place was her idea

Pro consoles make me laugh, if performance and top notch tech is your game a console isn't for you to begin with. And at $500 for the base PS5 + another $500 or likely more for the pro, you'd have a PC that would put both to shame.

NCR being such a big powerful nation kinda contradicted the whole point of Fallout, so I'm glad they got nuked. It also makes sense lore wise because whole point of FNV is that NCR is stretched out and barely has resources. Maximus is 18-19 when TV Series takes place which makes him 5 years old when bombs drop on Shady Sands. Not unreasonable. And keep in mind, just because Vault Tec talked about starting WW3 doesnt mean they did it, because it wouldnt make sense to make Cooper pay alimony if you gonna nuke your own daughter along the way anyways.
