He singing with his full chest. So good. They did not realize until after recording for years that he could even do the falsetto then Robin followed and then Maurice. Beautiful men. This was from 75 before the Disco period. They all sounded so much like one another it was hard to tell them apart. Barry was doing it, as was Robin AND Maurice. Barry and Robin were the main ones who did it, they would switch out ;)
Fun Fact: This song is actually the very first song that the Bee Gees wrote specifically with Barry's falsetto voice in mind. You should give Nights on Broadway a listen. That is the song where Barry discovered that he can sing in falsetto. Which led to them writing this song.
The song was a masterpiece and so difficult to do live they did not do it. And it was one of their favorites. Stunning melody, extraordinary transitions and great production. My favorite.
Kevin, I heard an interview with Moe one time that there was 26 layers of Harmony in this song. That's what made it so difficult to sing in concert. You're absolutely right it is a masterpiece.
@@agenolmedina9159 i don't know much about music or recording music but I believe it has to do with laying down or recording one set of harmonies on top of another. Maybe some who knows more about music and laying down the sound can explain it better.
This song interchange Barry and Robin's voice, both of them do the high notes! Maurice once said that his favorite part is the phrase "Fanny be tender, with my love..." because he could hear them both singing like one single voice, sometimes a little bit more of Barry, sometimes a little bit more of Robin, but they sound unison. You'll only notice Robin's voice all the time at the last part of the song when Barry is screaming at the backtrack. Absolutely masterpiece!
They lacked the guts to sing it live because it was so synthetic ..strange as its easy to sing solo not necessary to attempt what is a studio machine sound ..they should've sang it ..
So glad young people are finally discovering one of the group's best songs. One that displays their incredible harmonies and falsettos. Main Course is one of their best albums. I played this to death back in '75.
It breaks my heart to see Barry alone. I’m so proud of his new album but the twins absence is still palpable. Andy was my preteen crush. Their music is the soundtrack to my youth. Thank you for reacting and your kind words.
It's terrific that younger generations are discovering the Bee Gees. When they're on the radio, they literally take over those moments and it's so easy to be immersed in the song.
All three brothers had their own unique falsetto's, could sing base from their chest voice, and almost anything in-between!!! IMO, they are the most talented group, & exceptional singers of all time! If you would like tp hear more of Maurice with his falsetto, and Barry singing mostly chest voice, check out, Nights on Broadway!!!
I know that you love it, 😆 because this is their stunning masterpiece from the 1975 main course album, with Barry Robins and Maurice perfect high pitched falsetto harmonies duett and the amazing blended it in 16 audio tracks 😱 perfectly mixed by Karl Richardson & Legendary Arif Mardin. As Barry told: their instrumentally most complex and difficult song, but it is for sure one of their best jewels and Quincy Jones praised that tune as the best that he ever heard from the Brothers Gibb. Barry in an interview 1994: Impossible even for us to sing it live - one of the three forbidden songs in the music industry 😆
'Main Course' is still to this day my favorite Bee Gees album, and 'Fanny' just really hits me in the heart with it's gentle, earnest vulnerability. To me, that album and song are absolute masterpieces.💗
This is an incredible song. Dani, they ALL could hit those notes similarly, and that's why it's hard to figure it out who's singing what and when, but it's mainly Barry.
Barry was always my favorite too. Obviously I also love Robin and Maurice, and would never say any of the three was 'better' then the other two (as they all contributed something unique and irreplaceable to the group), but for me Barry just ticked all the boxes. 💗
It breaks my heart to think that Barry is the only surviving brother. They were and will always be the most beautiful singers and their songs will stay timeless forever
This is my least favorite Bee Gees song. I never liked it when I was a kid and to this day I still don't like it. It's the key change I don't like and I don't like the vocals during the new key, and I especially don't like the vocals prior to the key change
I would say that falsetto is Barry, i'm quite sure. He double tracked his voice in this song; singing the main part and adding some high notes at certain points. Robin and Maurice do mostly backing vocals. Anyway, its awesome.
@@lucyatlas1257 Nobody is doubting that Robin can sing falsetto, but it was Barry being double-tracked in the really high parts of this song (not the chorus and verses, where Barry and Robin sing together). That's the chief reason why they didn't want to perform the song live - the amount of overlap and changes makes it quite complex.
@3:45 it's the thought that "I wonder if when he's writing songs today, does he 'hear' the parts he would write for his brothers?" Ten years ago, I'm sure the thought would have saddened him; today I hope it makes him smile.
Exactly...you write for over 50 years, using the voices of your brothers; & suddenly, those unique voices are silenced. Barry struggled for years following the deaths of Mo & Robin. There's probably no one in the world who has endured that kind of mental pain, where the natural talent you've depended on your entire life morphs into a sharp double-edged sword. I'm glad Barry is finally able to enjoy their music again.
One thing you have to know...the highest notes are made by Barry, he is singging in several tracks (with his brothers) but he most of falsettos are made by him
Actually, Maurice sings high harmony when Barry sings lead in his normal voice. Not just my opinion, Barry specifically said this in an interview. Maurice had an incredible range.
Loved your reactions and comments. Its very easy to become emotional watching and listening to these great songs by the Bee Gees, knowing that Barry is the only one still with us. ❤
They all have a huge vocal range, sometimes when Barry and Robin sing together it can sound like another voice altogether, it’s amazing. You can hear it here and in Staying Alive and How deep is your love as well. Beautiful song!! Wonderful group!!
Ms. Atkinson as you react to The Bee Gees I remember the decades their music integrated into my mind and soul. The bell bottom pants , long hair , electric shirts and disco clubs all were fantastic memories. I danced with many beautiful and energetic partners. I can only imagine how one night with you would have been on the dance floor. Hopefully the night would have ended with Donna Summers last dance. Never know maybe after this COVID nightmare is over. Us closet disco maniacs will put on a one night bash to celebrate all the musicians that brought us so many classics .
Diana Ankudinova is unique and inimitable, goosebumps from her voice!=)))) Diana sings as if she lives in the song! The soul freezes or opens with Diana's voice.=))))))) I am a musician who has been with music for years, and believe me, I have not heard such a tone in all these past years. 1000000%!!!😁🔥🔥🔥🎤🎤🎤🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶......Amazing Amazing Amazing---Beauty in every minute!!!
If you haven’t seen it already I think you’d really enjoy the Bee Gees documentary “How can you mend a broken heart”. It goes all the way back to when those beautiful little boys started singing three part harmony and never looked back. And you are right, Barry is the last man standing and he misses his brothers terribly but you can tell he’s really doing ok. 😊
Please make a reaction to a young, very popular singer in world. Videos from this singer collect hundreds of millions of views. Diana Ankudinova is now only 17 years old. She has a very unique, very deep, clear voice. Dr. Marc Reynolds (Voice Teacher, Stage Director, Performance Coach and Consultant, and Acting Coach) said about the performance of this girl: Really really exceptional! Even if you ignore her age, even is she was 10, 20, 30 years older, this is still a really exceptional performer here that we're seeing. But at her age, unbelievable. Really really exceptional! Absolutely gorgeous! And again, not just because of her voice, because her performing, watching how nuanced and engaging her performance is. Ah, it's just so stunning. It's absolutely amazing.

Grown 49 year old and I’ll always be a big fan of The Bee Gees don’t care what anyone says. Abba too. Love them beyond belief. You should react to abba when you can. I love that you appreciate really great music.
I wish I could properly convey to young people what it felt like to hear this in 1975. Arguably, one of the greatest pieces of music for harmony ever recorded. If you can't fall in love with someone now, play ALL the Bee Gees material. You will be so glad you did.
Barry said they had 5 voices to choose from when they sing together. Mo said this song is mainly both Robin and Barry together. ( a whole different sound then them separately ).so no it is not just Robin doing the highs.
This was my favorite bee gees song and it just happened to be momma Gibbs favorite too. However, it was their most difficult song to sing and they didn’t like singing it. They have to do a lot of dubbing over on the voices. Maurice actually sings a lot of falsetto like Barry. I still miss ole Andy....
My favorite song!! Love the Bee Gees! Funny thing is most people think it's one person singing alot of the time when it's actually 2 or all 3 of them!! Incredible
All 4 brothers use the falsetto in the songs. They all have that amazing range. But when they each take the lead they have a distinct tune to each of them especially when not singing falsetto. By the way I love your videos I love your reactions to different groups and songs. Thank you for sharing.
i believe he tries to involve his nephews and nieces in his music so maybe not all is lost ...... in terms of harmonies, Alone is probably their most amazing song
You're right to be emotional, Dani. Barry said in an interview he would give up all their hits if he could only have his brothers back. God bless you, Bee Gees!!!
Mo was able to show off his voice in this one, the deepness compliments Barry and Robin perfectly. Thay are/were so awesome... RIP ANDY and MO and ROBIN.
Robin was so underrated. He never appeared onstage with an instrument (at least, from what I understand, since 1974), but actually could play several different instruments very well. He just hated to hold one on stage. And as a singer, he had an incredible voice. He and Barry played off each other perfectly.
Hi Dani, It's really cool for me to see someone your age appreciate the Bee Gees as much as I do. For me, at 56, the Bee Gees are a big part of the soundtrack of my live, since most of their 70's hits came out when I was in grade school, middle school and early high school. I also want to commend you on your insight into music and your eloquence. You a fine young lady!
You know Dani, To watch these guys sing is so amazing, I was a disco 20 year old. Through out the 60's & 70's when I was growing up it was the most amazing time to listen to the best music! Today we have evolved from bands to dancing on stage which is sad, bands showed us the instruments where the music was coming from and how talented these guys had and the energy they would put on the stage. There are so many great singers these day but it's sad to hear digital music and no attachment to the talented musicians!
Thank you Dani, for a great reaction video of fanny be tender from the bee gees. You know what amazes me is with the many of hits the bee gees have performed over the decades you think I should of or would of remembered this song and it slipped my mind thank you for a flashback to the time warp so to speak. Great job 👍 . Keep up the good work . Can't wait to see what music videos reactions you still have forthcoming you're awesome. Bye for now Bob
Bee gees was a big part of me and my brothers sisters lives as teenagers we lived in germany (army brats) we ware this album out main course l especially love country lanes and songbird Bee gees is one of the greatest bands ever
They recorded a song called Alone and Barry sang the part "I don't wanna be alone. " I can't listen to it without crying. I love Barry spilling all that falsetto sauce on this song. All three can hit very high and low notes. Barry just has the control to sing a full song in falsetto. Maurice was hitting some really high notes.
Wow, very solid reaction and analysis of this song. That should have earned you an interview with the amazing, larger than life, but very down to earth Barry Gibb. I'm sure that would be a must see discussion.
Jack Emerson - They all switched parts flawlessly. At 5:05, Barry and Robin have dueling falsettos. Two voices, two different tones but both falsetto. Maurice also sang high harmonies.
I grew up with the Bee Gee's,they were much different in the 60s than they were in 70s and 80s!They were more Folk rock in the 60s.It was about 74/75 that they took off with disco and a new RB soulful sound ,and they exploded and never looked back!Plus they were prolific songwriters.I was more into Rock and Roll like Skynard and Bob Seger and tried to pretend that the Bee Gee's were not true rock! But they were, and their talent and Genius is still not completely recognized by the world! The Beach Boys would open for the Brothers Gibb!If you want to hear a love song you can dance to and when you sing along it tugs at your HEART....You are listening to them! Truly gifted brothers and I feel fortunate to have lived in their best days1
