Is it a gripping series? I always mean to read them but I made the mistake of thinking the films represented the books, I now know the books are supposed to be far better!

if you’re planning on reading the dark artifices, the last hours, and the elder curses you absolutely HAVE to read tales from the shadowhunter academy, the bane chronicles, and ghosts of the shadowmarket!! they add so much to the characters and the universe as a whole highly recommend!

I read Percy Jackson this year and I’m in love! Already finished all of Rick’s books. I really recommend reading The Kane Chronicles, at least I really liked it.

I love this reading list! It covered several books I want to read with my 2 kids and many I want for myself. 2021 is our year of fantasy. My son is speeding through Wings of Fire and we will start Percy Jackson after he his done.

i was in the exact same position as you with shadowhunters and did a massive catch up this year!! i really enjoyed the dark artifices and all the short stories about the last hours characters but i’ve yet to start chain of gold as i’m waiting for the paperback version

I started reading The Rise of Kyoshi last year but I DNF'd it because I struggled with the descriptions and the app I was using to read it malfunctioned when I was halfway through. But I love the comics. If you enjoy them, I think the library editions are worth the investment. The publisher is also coming out with a Suki one-shot comic next year 😍

I hope you enjoy all of these!! Percy Jackson is SO good (I'm planning on re-reading it next year, since I'm getting my own copies, instead of borrowing like I did when I read the first time). And I'm SO excited about the show!! I really enjoyed Daughter of Smoke and Bone!! The novella Sightwitch is also really good. It follows a character we meet in the first two books and sets up for the third novel. It is also illustrated. Kyoshi is gay.

I love The broken earth trilogy! Still need to read the last book though 😅. Hope you like it! I'm also reading The wheel of time series. Read like 40 pages and love it already. i'm really excited for you🥺💜 hope you'll enjoy everything that you'll read. personally, I'm not a really fantasy person, but i'm honestly in love with the book "The Gray House". I've only read the first tome of it, but I'm really excited about reading the rest of them.it's originally written in Russian by Mariam Petrosyan (I'm reading in russian, btw). I don't know, if the English translation of this book is able to capture the atmosphere, but I hope it does 🙃

I am very excited for you to be reading a lot of these series like Percy Jackson, Daughter of Smoke and Bone, etc, but I gasped when you said you were going to read Gideon the Ninth. This series has become one of my absolute favorites of all time. It's so good! (And also, Gideon and Harrow are not friends. It's enemies to... something.)
