You have to remember that under Trump we had a supercharged economy was full employment at 33.3% and black unemployment at historically low levels. Even the Wall Street Journal was forced to report that lower and middle income. Americans were receiving a higher percentage of wage increase in upper class Americans. During the Trump presidency America was energy independent in the world’s leading producer of energy, according to the non-partisan and independent EIA.

Like my WW2 22yr Navy vet dad , we both never followed any party hell or high water . But since 1966 I have studied American and Presidential history . And today retired about 20hrs of week of in detail study. News of today are opinions mostly , that can change like the wind . Trump is no Eisenhower as a man PERIOD . Trump is more in line with Jefferson Davis of 1861 or Strom Thurmond of the 1960's . Both those men were dividers . And both these men had followers as does Trump that follow in lockstep . So no matter what party , if any person thinks , acts and speaks like the above from the past as does Trump , they have no place as commander in chief.

That's true, the US has serious transitivity violation problems, but if you can't vote your conscience you don't have much of a democracy. Which is rather the issue. Biden can do things that his party despises because he assumes they'll come to heel out of fear of Trump. But that doesn't work, not everyone actually will. It doesn't matter what you think of how other people vote, if it mattered what you thought, then noone would vote for Trump. What matters is he will lose votes.

I don't agree with Fareed's assessment. The number of people who will vote based on Gaza is trivial. Half of the relatively few people turning up for these campus protests aren't even students. There is a small but extremely vocal group of professional malcontents who will vote primarily on this issue. Anyone who thinks Trump will be more sympathetic to the Palestinians is insane. And everybody thinks that Trump is competent and Biden isn't because people like Fareed, trying to gin up ratings by reporting the horse race, keep saying it 24/7. Trump had the worst economic growth of any post-WWII president. Only two presidents in modern history had fewer people working at the end of their term than the beginning, Herbert Hoover and Trump. Even before Trump's bungled Covid response he was in the bottom half in GDP growth of post-WWII presidents. US has four percent of global population but had one quarter of all global Covid fatalities. In Trump's first three years he averaged 2.5% growth. That is barely different than the 2.4% that Obama had in his last three years. And Obama created on average 19K more jobs a month in his last three years than Trump did in his first three. There were 2.7 million fewer Americans working at the end of Trump's term than the beginning. In contrast, Biden has created fifteen million new jobs. Trump talked non-stop about manufacturing jobs but there were 154k fewer Americans working in manufacturing at the end of his term than at the beginning.
