The Faroe Islands in the North Atlantic, located in the middle of the Gulf Stream between Scotland and Iceland, are an archipelago of eighteen green volcanic islands where a unique culture has developed over the last thousand years. As direct descendants of the Vikings, the Faroese feel committed to their traditions and hold on to customs, without missing out on the advantages of the modern and globalised world - from archaic hunter and shepherd culture to contemporary art. With the highest birth rate in Europe and the lowest social inequality in the world, the just fifty thousand Faroese are a very special people living on one of the last natural paradises in Europe.

Beautiful filming! It would be lovely to have translated subtitles, though

Is there a reason there’s no translation? It’s a decently produced documentary featuring the people and culture of the Faroes yet does not make their words known to the larger world. Seems extremely disrespectful to those who gave their time and energy to be featured in the film to not have their dialogue translated.

I agree that if the narrator is speaking a certain language then anything that is spoken in a different language needs to have subtitles in the same language as the narrator.

Can you hear the tones and some parts familiar in what's missing, yes open to misinterpretation, hmmm, nothing nasty.

I’d love to know the thought process having a documentary so detailed and beautifully shot but having no way of understanding what any of the residents of this beautiful place are actually saying. Otherwise a great watch!

Beautiful documentary, hope to see more of this kind, but it'll be more good if there's subtitle😊. Thank you for filming this.

Very beautiful place, but it's sad that Norge no longer rules the Faroe Islands. Denmark is fortunate to rule this beautiful place on earth. Eivør Pálsdóttir's music really resonates with me & within my soul. Especially when she's singing outside in that amazing Scandinavian backdrop landscape. Very evocative & amazing feel for sure. Finally, may I suggest that you translate into English too, for your wider global audience. Please seriously consider, my Faroese friends across the seas. I think if you want more subscribers, then translating into English will be very helpful indeed, for growing your video numbers.

The egg hunt was also done by the Irishmen who lived on the remote Islands of Ireland back in the days. They would do exactly the same thing with ropes & assists/help from many other local men. They would collect eggs on cliffsides such as, guillemot, oyster catcher, puffin, seagull & razor-bill. This was their survival tactics, as these Islands was really harsh conditions to survive & so remote, so what could they do? They left with no real choices.

There are better documentaries if you are interested in the sheer beauty of these islands. This documentary is only good for getting to know the locals on the island...if you understand their language....there is no translation!!!

Food! Simple as that You live in a country that has a tradition of enslaving animals in tiny cages, mass kill them in millions, all in the name of money The islanders prefer their tradition of NOT enslaving animals, let them roam out in the wild, only take what they need and let the rest continue their life free in nature, and what the islanders take they share. Freely I buy my things in the supermarket, but I do not kid my self thinking our "modern" way of gathering food is more justified than the ways of these islanders. I am not that stupid

I agree fully! This is indeed way over the top marine life abuse & there's no way of trying to justify these barbaric acts & abuse against sea creatures. Beautiful creatures just living their lives in the vastness of the sea, but with no voice to defend themselves, when the horrible humans show up & enter their personal space. I often ask, How would we humans feel, if treated the same way?! See, we have a voice, so obviously we'd be speaking up, yelling @ the top of our voices & saying, "No way, this is not going to happen!"

Pancackes, Waffles, Frosting, Chips, Crackers, many sauses, Nougat, Pasta, Marshmallows, Ice creams..the list of foods that contain robbed eggs is miles long and pretty normal part of any countries dietry. So all countries ROB EGGS as you so "wisely" put it

Because it’s food? People don’t just throw away every tradition and cultural food just because Burger King has arrived.

The milk chocolate you eat, milkshake, and ton of food that contain milk products is milk robbed from the cow. Nothing wrong with that, but according to your logic it is wrong

I built the cart they move between the cliffs on the wires 😁 there used to be only 2 wires but when the crown prince visited we had to make it safer, so we rebuilt it to 4 wires 🙂

High production values, but no working subtitles. I reluctantly had to give it a "Thumbs-Down," and quit watching 15 minutes into viewing.

Beautiful & mostly peaceful for sure, but the very harsh, bleak & wild weather, can for sure, be a real turn off for countless people. Also, for the people who cannot stand animal abuse, or to see a sea blood bath annually, then this is not the place for them. It would be way too distressing to witness. Too much blood abound during the whale & dolphin slaughtering season annually. Nonetheless, many do love it & good for them. It this brings them happiness & untold joy, then I can only wish them the very best. Peace✌
