Kyle I do appreciate that in spite of your recent growth you do still respond to comments of the littletons like myself. I do want to throw something at you. There’s this story about a guy in Land Between the Lakes that his body was found mangled by something. What makes it so interesting is that in western Kentucky there are no animals that it would be common for them to mangle or eat a human. The wasn’t a hiker but a hunter so he should have been carrying at least one firearm. Something to maybe check out.

I am getting used to my gear, backpacking at least once a day each month this year, with a lot of that being done in LBL, I’ll let you know if I get mangled.

Much respect for anyone tackling these trials at a very fast pace. It took me about 20 days to do the LT and that was a challenge for me. Four days is beyond belief. What a hammer. Congratulations

@@trailtalespod This was in 2022. I went back this year to do some of my favorite sections and the trial was like hiking in a stream at times and a mud bog at other times. Add in the massive rain storms the challenge level jumped up massively. You’re from Vermont so you know the weather. I went back in October and things were awesome, no rain and no mud. I listened to the complete podcast and I would say everyone hikes at different speeds and we all do what is best for us. I have run into people hiking very fast and very slow and they all seem to be enjoying themselves. I have learned from both. Take care Kyle

29:47 Resting your body works so much. Just lay there and focus on relaxing every muscle. Focus on waves of relaxation going deeper and deeper. Your body will rest very well even when you aren't asleep. I was a long-distance electrician. Sometimes, you get amped, and I've gone 8 hours just resting my body. And it worked. I worked the whole next day and then crashed hard that night. That gas station dark roast will get you.

The USFS refers to the Rainbow Gathering as "the incident." Apparently they are notorious for doing damage and leaving a huge mess. I had a good friend in college from Presque Isle.

You can wreck yourself easy in a day. I messed up my guts for life doing iron man stuff. Hows Dan Becker doing? He and Dixie both got wrecked. Be safe out there. OR Zippy
