“You can still have so much without spending a ton of money on a car” FACTS! 💯💯 Looking for a 10th gen si and want it badly Wanted the type r before but I can’t afford extra 10k and want moonroof. Nice overall commentary 👍🏼👍🏼
That's part of why the Civic Si and the Focus ST are popular. Both are really good performance cars that you can get without braking the bank. Sadly Ford isn't doing the Focus ST now, but both are great cars to have fun in if you don't want to spend 40k on a Type R, STI or RS. Also the Civic and ST have the most mods you can do on them and get over 300hp without dumping tons of money in to them. Ford stopped the ST, so I'm glad Honda is still going strong with the Si. Also, THANK YOU for keeping a manual transmission! Dear god those are becoming way to rare these days.
I had a 2012 Camaro SS with intake, headers, exhaust, and tune.. almost 500hp. I have a 2020 Civic Si now, it's a bit slower but just as much or more fun, especially more fun on curvy roads where the Camaro was more scary.
My Subaru WRX that I bought brand new in 2012 is literally breaking left and right. I really like the WRX, but the car is breaking too much. The SI is my next car. I pay cash for my new cars, so the $25K price is perfect for me.
Love the Honda as I do your reviews. Also aware you love penguins stuffed or otherwise. Just saying their are no arctic penguins they live from the equator into the southern hemisphere.
Yep. The "HDMI" exhaust tip was history within the first week of ownership. I did twin stainless "blued" tips and it looks great. For now, I am just fixing the shortcomings of my 2018 Si. Overall, I am quite pleased with it's capabilities and efficiency!
Olivier DeVries a good friend of mine had one of the early 2000s Civic Si hatches. That puppy revved so quick I hit the rev limiter quite often. Damn I miss that car.
There is two HDMI ports, ones hidden in the deep cupholder. And I don't know much about cars or anything mechanical, I mean Hell, two months ago was the first time I ever drove a stick. Regardless I bought a 2020 SI and this car is soo dope. 1 1/2 beans outta five sounds like a slap in the face lol
Dying of laughter with all the rocks hitting the underside of the car, and her focusing on driving 😂😂 2020 si coupe owner here, in pearl white. Always puts a smile on my face
@@ElViperr408 It’s a fun daily IMO. It’s not perfect by any means, but if you can get over the rev hang, how relatively quiet it is, and how light the clutch is, it’s worth it. All that stuff can obviously be modded. Keeping mine stock cuz I don’t want to void the power train warranty. Personally think coupe looks better than the sedan. I say go for it
Civic si is nice but Honda needs to put more horse power into the Si to compete with other competitors with the same class league (like srt4, wrx, focus st, mazsda speed3, gti and others). At least 240 - 250hp. New 2020 civic si is only 8hp more than the previous generations (8th gen si 197hp), same horsepower as the 9th gen si 205hp (beside 2012-2013 civic si 201hp, 2014-2015 is 205hp) and 10th gen si (2016-2019 civic si) is 205hp but a little more torque. 2020 civic si should be the 11th gen civic si make it more horsepower like 240-250hp, you can mod to make good power but I'm talking about stock hp not so good compare to other competitors on the same class. Maybe 2021 will be a new generation civic si (11th gen civic si) with more horse power and torque. Will wait and see what Honda will bring in for the 11th gen civic si.
When you said it got "1 1/2 beans" isn't that bad? Don't understand. Thought higher beans were better. I'd give this car 4 beans at least for what it is.
Fastest FWD is the Type-R then SI i use to work for Honda. Type-R cost you 40k Si price is about 35k then EX cost about 26k. 6speed are in the Si Type-R and the WRX/STI those are the ones you want in 6speed
Uh...Sarah. Did you drink a LOT of coffee while recording this? For a few seconds there, it sounded like you just couldn’t get the words out fast enough!😆 OMG...you totally got me with the “Hellerrrrr”!😂
A shame you can hear the synthesised engine sound through the car stereo too.... Detracts from the driving experience in my opinion.... I know a lot of manufacturers do it... 🤔😒 And yeah.... 2 door coupe....
thedarkknight1971, it would be ok if it was done better like in the GTI or even the Veloster Turbo, both of which sound deeper and more natural. This fake sound is too buzzy and droning. Definitely not a good enhancement. In both the Veloster and GTI it can be disabled or minimized with in car settings. Not sure if you can turn it off in the Si. Would definitely suck on a long drive on the highway with all that drone.
@@subvet3668 thats nothing in 9th gen civic u can hear the engine scream like crazy and thats what i like about it but true the new one dont sound good
Solid review Sarah. I owned a 2000 Civic Si and loved it. I am planning to get another in the next year or so ( I miss the fun it was to drive and Honda reliability). All the extra safety stuff can be good but I also think it should be optional, let me explain. The more and more safety and also convenience features they add can easily fail and most cost a pretty penny to fix or replace. As long as you focus and are a good driver you should never need any of them. Enjoyed the vid so going to sub.
I actually just picked one of these p last weekend, sedan in white. It’s a great car no doubt. Thanks for the honest review and I can vouch for Sarah that it’s spot-on accurate.
Why don't you mention the oil delusion problem these engines are having? What good is a "stout" engine when that said engine is going to "grenade" years ahead of schedule because of lack of lubrication issues? And...where is Kyla? 😧
Update: A quick search on the web and RU-vid reveals that oil dilution is still an issue, which means it's far better to spend some extra cash and getting an 86 or BRZ or base Miata, all which use NA engines and don't suffer from oil dilution.
I have a 2017 with over 30k miles and have not experienced the problem. But, I live in the south where weather is warmer. Honda has extended the warranty for certain parts on the turbo models though -- 6 years and unlimited mileage.
Tinesh Boopathy 33k miles on my 2017 Si and i’ve not seen any alarming amount of gas in my oil. I am on forums where owners mod these cars like crazy and have heard nobody complaining that oil dilution has damaged their engine. A proper break in when new, avoid idling in cold weather too long, and drive the car more than 10 miles once in awhile. It is a non issue. The Honda haters finally hear about something that isn’t perfect on a Honda product and they run with it.
10th gen Civic...the best Civic generation ever. Sad to see it go as the 11th gen debuts. The 11 gen seems have lost much of the sportier look for a more refined, family sedan profile.
sounds like fake audio now gets pumped into the cabin for exhaust sounds cuz mine did not make that sound at all when my car was stock for a 2019 Si Coupe
Nice review, Sarah. I’m glad you finally got a manual! I haven’t always been a fan of the Civic, but I really like that one. Good job editing, I know that takes a lot of time.
Small Town Loner in terms of what these cars are made for, the si is better in every regard. It is lighter, has better handling, has a better manual transmission, is significantly cheaper when new, and is much more reliable, which is a given with Hondas and Volkswagens. Also has much better aftermarket support. For a cheap, fun little sporty car, the si does much better imo. Yes, the Volkswagen gli is marginally faster in a straight line, but that is about its only dynamic advantage, and if you want fast in a straight line, any camaro or mustang or even v6 Camry would beat it in bang for the buck
I love my 17' Si. Not quite sold on the proposed 2022 Civics. I am curious if you could get a test drive of the new Acura NSX. I hear many people who drive it say it is like driving a civic Si in terms of handling. You just point where you want to go, and the car will follow.
I have the 2020 Si Coupe. Great car. Really fun to drive and really fast. Only complaint I have with the car is the rev hang. Thankfully, I think I'll be getting it disabled in the next month. Minus the rev hang, it's an amazing car.
My "hot hatch" of choice these days is the Veloster, but while watching your review my wife and I had the same discussion about the Veloster and the Civic SI, one having more bang and one having the the classic lineage. Got to admit that its a tough choice between the two, but I'd still go with the Veloster. That said, the SI is fantastic.
Yeah bought in 2015 October a 2016 Mustang and it came with Goodyear Asymmetric F1 tires had replaced last December 2018 they 30,000 miles they still had 1/14 life. Now replaced them with the same kind brand model, because they handled and stopped the car like it dry the heavy rain storm like it was dry. Yes, they hug corners and a lot has to do with the tires but Mustang with the magneride suspension. There was no lean on the sharp corners in the canyons, and the tires stuck on the road. It can out handle and out run a Porsche Cayman. Mustang cost a 1/3 of the Cayman, due partly from the 100% import luxury sports tax (Tariffs). Sahah you are so amazing tackling projects on your own. With the tear down from the Audi TT, & MR2. Glad you got to critic various brands and models types. Can't until you get to read the Technology ( patented by Ford ) and critique the 2020 Mustang GT500.
