We discuss(most) of my favorite releases from this year. Because I just released a video detailing Willie Nelson's RSD live records, I chose not to include them here. So yes, there's a method to the madness lol

Incredible Brett. These are the same top 3 new releases for me too!! The Bob Weir is probably top of my new list, the Mike Campbell & the Dirty Knobs is killer and Willie's "A Beautiful Time" is a gorgeous album. Ray Wylie's "Co-Starring 2" gets an honourable mention, but was a bit underwhelming. Love Neil's new "World Record" too. Then...the Terry Allen records blow me away. Thanks again for the recommendation. "Bloodlines" has been on my turntable for months, I cannot bring myself to filing it. I just love it to death. "Chicago Blues Today!" makes my reissue list as does Dickey Betts' "Collector's Volume One" both of which are stone cold classics. The Tone Poet Art Pepper & Chet Baker's "Picture of Heath" and Milt Jackson and Art Blakey's Atlantic releases make my jazz list. They did a brilliant job of both. That Zevon and Prine are on my to get list. As for archival albums, the Willie at the Texas Opry House is tops for me (I know you're not covering that), the Allman Brothers' "Live at Syria Mosque January 17, 1971" is awesome (only available on cd unfortunately) and Neil's two solo acoustic albums from 1970 are fantastic. Great review as always. Merry Christmas to you and your pug!!!

If I hadn't just reviewed the Willie releases, they'd be on there, too :) RWH wasn't as good as its predecessor so I thought it best not to include :/ Bloodlines.. what an album. There's not a TA album I don't like but that may be at the top of my list. Pure Texas attitude from start to finish. I'm so glad you like it!! I need to get ahold of those Jazz reissues. Every one of them looks amazing. As for that ABB archival release, I hadn't heard of it 'til now and, of course, that and the Dickey Betts are now on the to-get list *lol*

@@brettsmusicreviews2641 Terry Allen is not easy listening music. He can be jarring and bizarre, but does he ever hold a song in the palm of his hand. Not many people could pull off what he did. Bloodlines really grabbed me. As for the ABB, any archival release is worth it at twice the price. Those guys were invisible at that time. And the Dickey is an all acoustic showcase that is his last great work.

I just looked and realized that the "Chicago Blues Today!" is a 2020 release. My bad. One of the best acquisitions I made this year though!

Yeah, I believe they used the same remaster as they did for the RSD box. Still worth having though and I'm looking forward to getting the next two as well.

@@brettsmusicreviews2641 I have an OG copy of Volume 2, which is a valued treasure. They've done a terrific job on the first one, so true to the original.
