She actually chose to not become popular, he record company tried to make her famous and she refused and wanted to stay exclusively Canadian. For whatever reasons though I'm not sure.
There's a video for one of her songs where she's shown as Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson and Amy Winehouse. In the end she escapes the asylum and drives away. I think that was a statement saying that fame and money is overrated and that she chooses not to mimic the trappings of the mainstream fame machine because she doesn't want to end up like them, dead. That could explain why she has been under the radar so much and why she chooses to be independent of the record label.
I don't care what anyone says, FEFE, I love you, I always will, and nothing can change that. I fell in love with this song the first time I saw it on MTV, and I still love it. You are a dark angel, and you are a fantastic singer, and you'll never be a ghost to me!

This video is just as iconic as the song itself. I was obsessed with this music video when it came out and still remember it all these years later. Fefe has this charisma that is hard to beat, love it. And I came out right around when this song came out so the cute lead dude didn’t hurt either lol
WHY has she not blown up?? Everything she ever writes and performs is freaking fantastic!! And it's better than the stuff that's popular NOW!!! It's, like, 5 years old and still killing way harder!!! Hell! Her 2003 album was nearly perfect, but couldn't seem to come out of the Avril Lavigne shadow, even though she deserved to. *sigh* Fefe, at least know i love you.

I've heard of this this song on Twitter a few months ago. I liked it but didn't really think of it that much to seek it out again. Then Drag Race Canada used it for a LSFYL and it gave a new life to it I think.
