The quad-rotor layout has a similar combustion cycle to a V12 piston engine, so it's naturally going to sound "more F1" than anything with a V6, which is a horrible-sounding engine in any category.
NO. This stupid video of a video game did not get the sound right. I thought it was footage of the real thing until it took off and sounded like the 787B inhaled a fat hit of helium. Total FAIL, Monza. Gran Turismo 4 did a much better job.
the 787B was actually pitifully slow for it's competition class, but the damn thing just wouldn't come apart on the track. It did not need any major repairs during the entirety of it's 24 hrs of Le Mans victory race. In fact, the team in charge of wear assessment for the R26B that year said that the car was ready to race another 24 hours.
The only car I’ve ever run sub-6 minute ‘Ring lap times cleanly. Either you ended up with road rash on your jewels, or your lap time turned red as a DQ. There’s a reason this car was declared illegal for the 1992 LMS.....
Considering the 787B is 27 years older, ages in technology terms, and that it has zero electronic aids...it's almost as fast as an modern hybrid F1 car. Plus it would be interesting to see the comparison on say 60-70 laps as the Mazda was built for Endurance type races (24H LeMans) and would probably need just one pit-stop while the F1 needs at least two...so the pace of the 787B might surface as winner.
ironically enough, the 787B would need more fuel and tire stops due to the Ridiculous consumption of both by the rotary engine, but it'd need to stop a lot less for other repairs. Hell, the F1 car might need a new engine at some point.
@@ploquinn yup. Races limit how much you can swap cars so i doubt a F1 car could even finish the type of races that the 787B was made for. Its engine can get slapped around forever and be fine.
F1 car at Le Mans would start off strong but by half way the Mazda would probably have catched up and would win in the end. Endurance cars would always destroy F1 cars at endurance for obvious reasons
The Mazda Had its motor down tuned to about 700HP from the over 900 it originally had for a reliable Le Mans where a post race engine tear down after the win showed the engine to be ready for another 24hours. . .

that 2.5 liter rotary engine was capable of high revs and was very durable for a rotary ,the engineers claimed it couldve made alot more horsepower at even higher revs but kept the rev limiter lower so it could be more reliable lol
The Mazda 787b for me its and still best car of the world Back then the pilots who raced this car without all the tech Those guys had big ostrich Huevos
How about 24 hour race, just like Le Mans? How many F1-cars it will take? 24 hours is about 12 times one F1 race. Mazda 787B's engine could have last another 24 hours, that was seen after race inspection.
from the first frames from the cockpit I realized that the installation of a computer The shadow does not run around the hands and on the instruments in the Mazda cockpit. And there are no shadows on the track. and tseyuveta Mazda unreal. as well as Ferrari. I don't like these misconceptions.
Wow didn’t even realize it was a game until the end ... Would this be the same result in reality ? I know one thing for sure ! If the race was a long one the Mazda would SLAY!!!
