I haven't been around many modern Ferraris but I have worked on and played around with some vintage Ferraris like 308s, before the prices went crazy, and if I remember correctly they also shared at least a few parts like switches and ignition lock cylinders/key blanks with Fiats.

You bought back some memories! Way back long long ago as a young engineer coming from university the Motronic ME7.3H was the first project i learnt/worked on as a HW test developer. Same ECU was also sold to other 4cyl Fiat and Alfa engines. So beware of the alien tecnology LOL! 😁🛸🛸🛸

those airflow sensors look suspiciously similar to the ones VW used to have on mid-90`s to mid-00`s TDI cars Quick google search on the bosch number says a 360 mass airflow sensor is the same one on a bunch of BMWs

Can you show us how to do a smoke test? I have a BMW535 which has had vacuum leaks in the past. I was able to find them manually but would like to see how you did a proper smoke test.

I'd want to DD a 1996 of 1997 Dodge Viper GTS. However, those Modenas have always been one of my favourite Ferraris. Very cool. Nice to see it's being so well taken care of.

Dear Wizard - at 8:23 - is there a tiny split starting in the CV boot - the corrugation nearest the wheel? It's only visible for a moment as a darker line. Beautiful car BTW

Don't most people take their Ferraris in when the light goes off, that's probably more worrying

As much as these cars cost and how much performance they are capable of you’d think they would make some of these components a bit more durable.

If you take your Ferrari to a Ferrari mechanic he will make it seem like your car if full of alien technology, that's how he earns his money, by scamming rich people.

Im glad Car Wizard documents the repairs on Ferrari's and Lamborghini's.

Good video. Same car that I have. The best advice I can give, maintain the car, and do it in a shop where the person running the shop makes his living working on cars like this. When you take a car like this to a shop you will be paying for two things. The mechanics brains, and his knowledge built up over years of experience.

Hi Wizard !!! Question...i heard with mid rear engines that its best to have the short arm of the lift on the rear of the car where most of the weight is ? I notice you have it the other way around....many new C8 Corvettes have fallen off lifts because of this...was that information incorrect ? Would love to hear your take on it....thank you

"What supercar would you like for a daily driver?" A De Tomaso Pantera with a few upgrades for better reliability and braking. Don't think getting parts would be to much of an issue, which would be something important to consider if it was a daily. Sure a Lamborghini or Ferrari would be nice, but getting parts could prove challenging. Daily drivers break and most people like myself would rather not have to wait long before getting it back on the road. VT247

The hardware may not be all that special, but the wrapper fits a lot tighter. When a huge percentage of service procedures start with "remove engine", you know you're not working on a Chrysler minivan.

I've thought for many years that it would be handy for shops if there was a master cross reference guide available that that gave viable alternatives for all those vendor supplied parts the Wizard mentioned.

That 360 got a lucky escape from catching fire and it's good that the owner drives it loads exactly good for the car as well

What I have found from these cars as I decided whether or not to get one as a project is that these "super cars" are not produced in mass enough to warrant mass production testing and reliability. They know the cars will not be driven very much, and when they break down the owners should have a lot of money to take it to the dealer. Some items like brakes and the engine are complex and engineered okay, but the rest is every corner cut to find something already on the market that works just as you said. Its so much easier to grab another engine from a salvage yard on a mustang than deal with these over-priced foreign units. The 360 is the oldest I care for that still looks modern, and at just over 400hp it's not that impressive vs a supercharged mustang. There are also many problems like their fuel tanks and their location that have caused many of these to burn. Just not enough units produced to find all the common issues cars have. It seems a lot of people also want Ferrari dealership paperwork for maintenance- I'm sure that is a preference, but enough to chase me away since I would do all the maintenance myself. Still a beautiful car.

how do you cross reference a part? i've been having troubles with my 2006 daihatsu terios, is built with toyota bits which are supoded to be easy to find but the problem is i can't find any cross reference information, for example, the power windows switches looks just like a toyota part but i can't make any sense of the part number vs a toyota number

For some reason I just really prefer the 360 Modena to its replacement, the F430. Something about the styling on the 360 just speaks to me, in terms of looks its my favorite V8 Ferrari.

This was one of my favorite eras for Ferrari, the 360 and 456.

That fuel pump housing is the same as my Alfa Romeo 156 twin spark. Same issue. Just dry it out, scuff it with 100grit sand paper and use epoxy glue. I used Bison metal epoxy, and after 3 years and 150 000 km without problem.

I live in Sweden Stockholm and I remember racing those Modena 360 against my z3m coupe.

Wizard is right, the parts are pretty standard stuff. Only difference is when you put them in a Ferrari box the price goes up a few hundred (or thousand) euros.

Do you need to jack the Modena up before getting the lift arms under the chassis?

Such an absolutely beautiful, graceful shape, from an era that was in general pretty terrible for car design.

It's not always the case that when you unplug a maf it goes into default mode. On some ignition systems it goes straight into limp mode and runs like shit. Even the transmission then stops shifting correctly. For instance the passat b5-5.5 and audi c5/c6.

I think the biggest thing that the Wizard has done for "normal" folks is to make them not only less scared to work on "exotic" cars.... but cars in general. I was starting, more and more, to feel like the systems in the cars I owned were beyond me.... but this has given me the confidence to at least SEE if I can fix it myself. The whole mantra of taking your time and thinking of it like any other car is huge. I do have some okay mechanics in the area when things ARE too much for me, but it's empowering to remember that .... yeah.... I'm still that guy who kept all his cars running with a few screwdrivers and a socket set all those years ago.

Unlike some other Ferraris from around this era, the 360 is still absolutely gorgeous. I think I even prefer it to the 430. Not sure about those polished looking rims, but other than that, I would happily daily that car if I had the money.

We all know FIAT Fix IT Again Tony, was it Samcrac that replaced a transmission hydraulic oil pump on a Ferrari with an Alfa Romeo one for 1/10th of the price? Same part used different PN.

When he unplugged the MAF sensors the ECU stayed in open loop running the engine with a sort of "default mode" for various things including the fuel trim to allow the "Wizard" to verify his suspicions. What probably tipped him off was that it was only misfiring when warmed up. (I don't think he mentioned that part in the video.)

MAF sensors not always give you check engine code. Sometimes they work bad but still in some tolerance. For example i had V6 Alfa Romeo. No check engine code but between 5000 and 7000 rpm you can feel you don't have the full power. And this engine should be great exactly between 5k and 7k rpm. So i got a diagnostic cable and multiecuscan software, got live data recorded and the measured airflow at high rpm was not the correct amount. So i ordered new maf from Italy because in Italy the price was 250$ , but in my country the same part was 400$. And with the new MAF the car was a lot better. Then with the same diagnostic i found the lambda sensor was not working at 100%. Replaced with original bosch. The replacement brand new Bosch was working also not great. Then ordered NGK lambda sensor and it was twice the price of the bosch. And this sensor was great. The car got the full power...

Well use live data on the scanner to find out if it’s bad
