I remember my first time as a kid coming across emerald weapon. I thought I would beat it no problem slamming into it with my submarine only to be thought a stern lesson.
Another interesting method is my favorite: Gravity. Most bosses are immune to the Gravity element, Emerald WEAPON is not. So equip your party with W-Magic and mastered Gravity linked to Quadra Magic. Because he's weak to Gravity, even Demi1 will still do 9999 damage to him. So using Demi1 on Emerald WEAPON will, because of the Quadra Magic and W-Magic, inflict 9999 x 2 x 4, or roughly EIGHTY THOUSAND DAMAGE - per character, per round. And when he activates his eyes, just hit them with standard attacks or a powerful spell or summon OTHER THAN KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND (Emerald WEAPON will counter Knights of the Round with Aire Tam Storm if he has less than half his HP). Once the eyes go away, just resume the Gravity bombardment. Bear in mind, you can't ACTUALLY kill Emerald with Gravity. It does percentage damage, so you'll get him down to around 1000-ish damage. But once you see that he's taking damage less than 9999, just start hitting him with standard attacks. Also, a little advice for anyone trying to Morph the Ghost Ship - Use Yuffie equipped with her Conformer to Morph it. Normally, the Morph command only does 1/10th normal attack damage. However, Yuffie's Conformer actually ignores this damage penalty, and will do FULL damage when using the Morph command, so you can get items from morphable enemies much easier that way.
Lucky 7 is actually the most efficient way to beat Emerald. Every single time when I see someone post a video about how they can beat emerald easy but no lucky 7, I laugh at them
I just did it the other day on both weapons. If you practice, you can time it just right without even having to slow it down. The first two slot sections will blink twice back to back within a second, and the last one comes right after the second mog. Try it and you'll see exactly what I mean
That sounds like a good cheese strat, but still too grindy for Mme. I just 7777'd both weapons, and went home satisfied. (Actually, I did go back to whoop Ruby once I had Knights of the Round from Mmy ill-gotten gains, 😂)
I just beat the weapons recently, just spam KOTR while one character use megalixir and all-life2 for the party. It took 8 KOTR for emerald while 5 or 6 to ruby.
I know this is an old comment, but I accomplished this too with Red xiii at level 83, his hp was naturally 7,777 so just him attacking and 4 rounds of KOTR from Cloud at lvl 99 did the job for me
i never thought about it, cuz the the clue, that the damage is linked through materia, never reached me. aire tam storm is an anagram for materia storm.. thing is, the german version on the psx, called materia "substance" but aire tam storm, was left as it is.. thus, no clue for the 12 year old me, that wasnt very good in english at the time. i always thought, that ability was linked via certain damage over time, that eighter you give him or that you take. or that its linked by healing amounts, like at 50k of heal, the ability of his, gets into the pool and has a 1in6 chance to activate. the way i did it back then. was to come with full limit bars on cloudl, red13 and cid, spam all the 3 limits on him right away, but only the ones, that hit multiple times, eq 4x cut on all characters, and burst him down with repeated 4x cuts and use heal materia with magic counter. that way, it got him even without the underwater materia. it took hours of grind to get the 4x cut to max and split into a new one, but thats the way it worked. i only found out about the underwater materia use later, since i had no gameguide
That two materia per character should’ve been strategy 1 which is the “Least amount of work strategy”. Seriously, that strategy is even simpler and kills Emerald quicker. You don’t even have to think about getting final attack materia
@@iam4026 Not to mention spending DAYS trying to win the randomly appearing blue Command Counter materia from Chocobo Racing... that displayed on the screen the same as the purple independent Counter materia until you actually won it. I swear I had dozens of those things in my inventory by the time I got the one I wanted.
Can't help myself... It's materia in reverse. It's also an anagram, but reverse is a more limiting description. Since "rate mira" is an anagram, but not a reverse, or palindrome. I think palindrome only works with numbers. 😳
I had a blast watching this tutorial video! You're absolutely right about Emerald being a "Beginner trap". I had no earthly idea that a lot of the strategies you mentioned even existed. Now I'm about to go home and try.... ALL OF THEM. I look forward to seeing more!
I was really wanting to find a video detailing Emerald Weapon in exhaustive detail -- not for tips or techniques: just because I was curious to see all of its abilities and how the battle played out mechanically. Wasn't expecting to find a video like that, really. However, not only did I find it, but I also found one of the most entertaining FF-related videos I've seen in a long time! Bravo, good sir! :-)
I love how most of this video boils down to "grind materia for 1000+ hours and nuke everything." I actually wasn't aware of some of these combos, many are quite cool.
Its rare to find a RU-vidr who can give fun information and explain what and how to things. My siblings are so impressed as those youve taught us is something they didnt know and they've played it like 10 times or more in their lives xD please continue these and i look forward to watching you when the remake comes! More power! Ps: are you also a trophy guide maker?
Thanks for the support, I'm glad your siblings enjoy the show! I don't make trophy guides but it's something I would maybe like to do someday since I do trophy hunt every Monday and Tuesday on my stream.
4-8Productions i really like how you put wit and explanation in these videos ^_^ the reason i ask is i mostly devote myself on trophies for all games i play now which i think is something im sure youll do well at too. They were so amazed with your no button pressing methods. Thank you so much again! I hope for more success with your vids and games
Oddly enough I've never seen the strategy I used for Emerald Weapon when I was younger in any kind of "how to defeat him tutorial videos". So my strategy revolves around the fact that he's susceptible to Gravity. Therefore I use (W-Magic) (Gravity)=(Quadra-Magic) (Gravity)=(MP Absorb) on every character One turn deals 79992 HP per character which is 239976 per turn which should get rid of him in 5 turns (including the finishing blow because Demi deals %-based damage only) Throw on some (Final Attack)=(Phoenix / Revive) on everyone & you're good to go. Good job on the FF7 videos. Just watched them today because I'm playing the game yet again myself.
MISTRRLOVE nice. i remember back in 1998-1999 i killed him by using double cast Knights of the Round, and the other two characters would mimic it. i got to cast 6 kotr in one trun before he could hit me, and by the 2nd time throw he was dead. i did the same set up with ruby. I just used cloud by himself and would just mimc a double cast KOTR or mimc a Omni Slash over and over until he was dead.
Strategy #3 worked for me! In addition I had all of my characters limits ready and then used kotrt + mime. I've been trying to defeat it for months thank you soo much!!!
I just found your channel and I love it. You've inspired me to delve deeply into ff7 before the remake so it's fresh in my mind. Speaking of fresh, nice dance moves!
I actually tested out another no button strat. Instead of FA + Revive, FA + KotR x3, just do FA + Revive, FA + KotR, FA + Mime x2. You don't even need an HP MP materia since only the first KotR per death counts as a cast.
Dude! I just beat him! I fucking beat him!!!! I used your lucky sevens trick just because I wanted to see what lucky sevens was like having never done it before, but I continued to fight him once it stopped, and for the first time ever as well I beat him! 22 years later and I finally beat emerald weapon 😍
Lol I remember an old friend I used to have wanted to GameShark the Emerald fight. I was reluctant but he still lost . All all best codes on at the time too....btw, ff7 is on Switch now....OMG, it's on a Nintendo console...
i literally cant get enough of strat 3. i die everytime it comes up like ive watched this just for that one alone like 10 times. congrats i cant even stop laughing at it thank you
I cannot stress how GOOD you are at making these tutorial videos! They have everything! Humor, insight, knowledge and out of the box strategies I would of never thought of! It's thanks to you I managed to get the best possible experience out of FF7 just by learning how to play it right, and these videos have been educational and enlightening time and time again! Thought Strat #5 was just pure genius and typical of you to find something like that! Strat #4 is by far the coolest athestically and the most badass! But yeah, everything you said is so true! This boss made me lose sleep as a child! And it felt amazing to come back and crush him! It was bitter sweet to finish this game, and I was guttered the experience was over. This game will always have a special place in my heart and I feel your passion is second to none! For a new FF7 video, you could maybe do something about Sephiroth? And explain as to why he is the single most badass individual of any video game genre! Anyway, dont stop doing what you're doing! You deserve more subscribers for the work you put in! Stay awesome.
Reb Thank you Reb, you always offer the nicest comments that give me the motivation to continue making videos. I'm glad you've stuck around, and I hope you continue to stick around! Especially when I start live streaming, which should hopefully start in the next month or two, I would love to get the chance to play live and chat with you. Also if you'd like to see these videos even faster, we really need help promoting our new Patreon page. You can also support it yourself and get some pretty cool prizes in the process! Stay awesome buddy ;)
4-8Productions It's the least i could do! And i look forward to it bro, that would be my pleasure! Your stream sounds like its going to be a ton of fun! I'm going to be a subscriber for sure :)
Humor? Come on... Really? Hes annoying as hell. The worst kind of comedy is when they think they´re funny, and just keep going on, and on, and on. Get to the point, please! Nice strategies, I´ll give you that. Skip the "comedy". It´s embarrassing.
Imagine if we get a game that details the backstory of the Kalm Traveler and his friends on their quests to find the Desert Rose and the Earth Harp. It could be it's own thing showing the origins of ShinRa, how they found Jenova, the Gi tribe, etc.
There’s another strategy that works flawlessly. First, kill off two characters so there’s only one left to fight. On your preferred character, equip KOTR paired with Hp steal. Then pair the command counter material with mime. So you select KOTR which will steal enough HP to refill your health. After that, just select mine. You won’t need higher than rank 1 knights because you’re miming your own attack. Each time you mime, knights gets used again and steals hit points. If you get attacked, you counter attack with mime. This is such an easy strategy that the timer is irrelevant. This is still a great video. I never fully understood the mechanics of the battle. I just knew how to win. I also didn’t know the timer could be removed!
Oh my God. How are you so good at making joke and video like this. This is literally the kind of joke I always laugh to when I was a kid. These things don't appear no where In the recent years anymore. Glad to see some talents like you. You make my love for this franchise just keep getting bigger. Have a happy new year sir
dude so good. how you can bring new fresh watchable content for a 20 yr old game, with a wife, with a house, is just amazing. whats your day job man! wish i could do what you do with a family too!
I started a website design company last year after graduating college, so that's my day job. I would like to spend more time doing this and less time on my company, which is why I decided to start a Patreon page. But since it just started we don't have much support yet. I hope to have a lot of support soon so I can turn 4-8Productions into my day job, and start releasing a lot more content! Also, thank you for the kind words, it's much appreciated! ;)
If the Weapons only show up to defend the planet, and only showed up once Sephiroth cast Meteor, does that mean Shinra using the Mako wasn’t all that bad? Or would they have shown up sooner or later once the planet’s Mako started running out?
Either a plot hole or that Shinra draining mako is inconsequential compared to meteor about to crash onto the planet. I mean, Shinra does only drain mako in midgar
All these years later and I never realised you could put two KOTR on one person. I had three plays with Mastered KOTR, W-Summon, Mimic, and Finalcut-Pheonix. It worked but always pushed the timer. If only I had known, it's so damn simple.
when we were kids, we used to find ways to make emerald more challenging, not less. my brother was always too lazy to get the underwater materia... or do anything. this is how he would get master materia... and beating ruby is how he'd get a gold chocobo. also, 4 hero drinks and mime+counter with barret angermax and yuffies doom of the living are ways to beat him in about 1 minute.
The first time I came across Emerald Weapon, I was playing the original PS1 version. It killed me in 1 hit and then my save file got corrupted. It was a most traumatizing experience as a kid 🤣
In 2024, using the revive/final attack with 2 KOTR works like a charm works on all of the WEAPONS and Sephiroth. Thanks for countless hours of finding the best strategies🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the help. I finally beat him using this: Cloud lvl 99, Ultima Weapon (HP Plus and 4x slash) Tifa lvl 99, Premium Heart (Underwater, Final Attack+Phoenix and HP Plus) Yuffie lvl 76, Conformer (Final Attack+Revive,HP Plus and enemy skill materia for White Wind) (all mastered materias^) 7 megalixirs and many many elixirs I kept Cloud at 9999 hp most of the time with elixirs and white wind. 4x slash helped take care of the eyes and so did omnislash or final heaven. When Tifa died, she cast phoenix and revived all the other members. Eventually, Emerald weapon used Aire tam storm and dealt 2222 damage to cloud, which did the 7777 trick, after that and one omnislash immediately after(that I am not sure was necessary) Now I have the master materias. yay
I used almost the same setup as we did with ruby. Kotr-Absorb HP, with mime had everyone alive and let them die after making yuffie cast Haste so I can get more attacks in Used KotR twice and mimed every time after. I found out that he actually has a chance to MISS Aire tame so equip a lucky plus materia and just spam him to death with Kotr It really did feel like RNG the entire time but I eventually got him on my 11th try and that was after a million iterations to my build.
I basically did this too. Just had Cloud with kotr-hp absorb mime-counter w-summon Then Yuffie had mime-counter And Cid had Mime-counter underwater You put your cursor to memory Have Cloud cast W-Summon kotr Have Cid and Yuffie use mime Wait for Clouds turn then use mime himself Then just hold the O button or whatever button you use for confirming an action You will only use the mp for kotr on Cloud the 2 times and after because everyone is miming it, it will be free. Also every time he hits you with a single move you will counter with an hp absorbing w-summon kotr. You can't die!
Strategy #6: The Black-Flag Removal Slots Exploit... STRATEGY Use Cait Sith’s second Limit Break and force the game to use Game Over. There’s a video for that on 4-8’s channel. You instantly win with funny character. Pure. Unadulterated. Funny.
I have can’t remember how I did it but I remember managing to defeat emerald weapon within a few attempts . Amazing how my young mind could intuitively navigate such intricate tactics .
the roflmacopter strat really does work. i beat emerald in less than TEN MINUTES FIRST TRY with it. all you need are 3 quad cut materias, the hp plus materias, and your 3 characters' ultimate weapons. i did it with cloud, vincent, and cid and it was a cakewalk. death penalty i dont think was even close to being maxed out either. edit: and dont forget megalixirs
Ive used the following strat for nearly 2 decades....works like a charm. Set up Cloud with his Ultima Weapon and Mystile armor. Set up Yuffie with Conformer and Mystile/Minerva Band Set up Barrett with Missing Score and Mystile/Escort Guard. Materia Setup as follows (all mastered) Cloud: Sneak Attack-KOTR, W-Summon-Magic Plus, Final Attack-Revive, Counter-Mine Yuffie: Counter Attack x8 Final Attack-Revive, Mime, HP-MP Barrett: Final Attack-Revive, Counter-Mime, HP-MP, Speed Plus -Magic Plus. Battle begins with Cloud casting KOTR twice. Mime attacks repeatedly with all characters. If done correctly, Emerald will only attack one or two times before being destroyed. My average fight time.is.between 7 to 9 minutes
I just Want to Point Out somwthing. I really think that underwater materia is just useless, since from the moment you are actually prepared to beat emerald weapon, you will do it before time runs out. Or at least it was my experience, and you can use those AP for another materia. EDIT: Oh, okey, I was a #1 Strategy user. Good old times.
I didn't think I had taken too much from this video but apparently I did! Recently bought FFVII on Steam and been working on clearing all achievements in one play through. Had never beaten Emerald before, but I was taking a break from AP grinding in the crater and figured what the hell, I'd give it a shot. Went in with no real prep, just remembered the Lucky 7s cheese so threw on two HP plus and got two characters to 9,999HP, and used the third as a megalixer spammer and beat it first time. Great feeling to finally beat that part of my childhood, in one attempt no less! Ruby weapon will be next!
This brings back fond memories of the original ff7, 2 decades ago!! I recall it took me 45 mins to beat this boss, and relied on the chaining of the kings summons.
I keep trying the No Button Strategy, and I keep dying. What is going wrong? I have all the necessary materia, but it seems like I am running out of revives or something. Any tips? EDIT: KotR wasn't doing enough damage to kill in time (i.e. before I ran out of revives). Cloud was level 99, but I needed to equip Magic Plus materia(s) to increase the power of the summon.
+Austin Jackson thats okay! We appreciate your support whether or not you send us money or not. Once i reach ffviii in my final fantasy lets play maybe ill make a junction video, ive always wanted to learn all there is to learn about it since its pretty complicated once you get in depth.
All Lucky 7's does a shit ton of damage but doesn't kill him. However if you have limit breaks at the ready, you can easily kill him when the effect is over.
Haha, I remember grinding on Magic Pots like hell several years ago, and I mastered so many Materias that I eventually ended up with like 5 of each Master Materia and a bunch of Knights Of Round, Slash-All and HP Absorb materias etc, and I would set up insane combos like having an 80% chance of a Sneak Attack with Knights Of Round, a Final Attack combined with Phoenix, and other fun stuff. I also used that glitch (?) that allows Double Cut to absorb HP from enemies if HP Absorb is combined with Master Command.
As soon as I get double cut materia I master it twice and get the 3rd one to 4 x Attack. From that point on my characters are generally doing 6000-9999 damage each attack depending on the weapon equipped. I enter the battle with everyone's limit breaks ready. Uses them and then 2-3 round of normal attacks and he's dead. If you have attack all equipped to one or more characters the eyes are taken out instantly. The battle takes about 8-10 mins.
My strategy was as follows: stick as much low level materia (that I need to master ASAP) on my other two party members, although I do leave Enemy Skill materia on one of those characters. Load up one character (Cloud) with a mastered final attack + phoenix, knights of the round + MP absorb, W Summon, Mime. If I had the slots I would add Counter + Mime. Cloud will come into the fight ready to Omnislash/mime to death, but first I use Enemy Skill --> big guard, to give my team haste and barrier (however short lived). Then the other two characters do NOTHING while Cloud OmniSlashes + Mime's as long as he can. Once he dies because of Air Tam, my team will revive via Phoenix, and then its off to plan B --> W-Summon + Knights of the Round + MP Absorb. My MP never goes down...I smash him for just shy of 250k damage, and repeat until he's dead. Using this I was able to beat him, without the underwater materia, in about 9 minutes no sweat. P.S. My strategy to beat Ruby was the same. Worked like a charm.
also, since playing my first domestic copy of FFVII with entertaining gameplay, story and it's many mini games (3 focused on racing - my favorite video game genre) which all give it maximum replay value. which is one reason why I'm majorly fan-boying for the HD Edition on the PS4! still, to each their own and nice work!
(This turned out to be way longer than I thought, so if nothing else just know I loved your sense of humour here, made me wanna go watch all your other FF stuff.) Funny you should mention, as it turns out FFX and FFVII are supposed to be in the same universe according to the 'Scenario Writer' for both games Kazushige Nojima. It is heavily suggested in the 'Final Fantasy VII Ultimania Omega', but blatantly asserted by him in the 'Final Fantasy X-2 Ultimania' where he states that following the end of X-2 the boy Shinra goes on to try to create a system to utilise "the life force that runs through our planet". He fails to complete this in his life time, but Nojima states that in the future when traveling to other planets like Gaia is possible the Shin-ra company is founded there "about 1000 years after this story [FFX-2]..." using his technology to extract mako from the Lifestream. That theory however was said by Nojima in an interview, likely somewhat offhand so it probably can't be considered canon, which is probably for the best as it opens up a MASSIVE plot hole surrounding the Shin-ra No.26 rocket and why that what's such a big deal if they had to leave Spira to get to planet Gaia to begin with.... But whatever some fun little trivia.
Yeah I was aware of the whole Shinra business, which is why I made the joke, but I left it at that since explaining it all would have taken another 20 minutes, and as you said it's not really considered canon. That always perplexed me though, Final Fantasy to me is a collection of stories from different universes where unlikely heroes team up to save the world. It's fine that way, and I love it that way, so why try to connect them? And why make a statement like that when it puts a giant plot hole in your game, and furthermore why name the boy Shinra!? Oh well.
I always use Emerald and Ruby to gain AP. So I use another strategy, it's pretty easy. I always go into the battle with one character at 7777 HP. There's a youtube video on how to get that. Basically, Just go into a random battle, and attack one party member ( call this Character A) with weak attacks such as chocobuckle, then mini-fy another party member(call this Character B), and have the mini-ed character B attack the Character A ( this deals 1 damage). You want to get Character A's HP to somewhere below 7777 but ends in 77 such as 6877 or 7077. Then, after the battle, just heal Character A with potions or hi-potions to get to 7777. So with that preparation, you go into battle against Emerald and start off with the lucky all 7's. Then you just cast KOTR twice. I don't remember if you need another character mime those two KOTR. This strategy doesn't require you having maxed out some materias. Obviously I put the materias that I want to level up in triple growth weapons.
I beat both Ruby and emerald with just maxing two kotr materias and equipping them with w-summon and mime. Probably took less than ten turns doing this, I can't remember, it's been 20 years. Just Ruby was more a pain in the ass
I did similiar but only used one kotr and 3 mime with hp and mp absorb and of course w-summon. I'm sure that tells you enough lol. Ruby is cake with hades on the tentacles, and elemental at max + fire materia linked. He can't kill you at that point his flame will heal you completely every time he uses it. Since he never casts shadow flare twice in a row or even twice if i remember correctly.
