WE DID IT (& included plenty of before & after shots!) The main work for the exterior look is complete! We'll call this stage 1 ;) With the DIY paint job in the past, we’ve been able to reassemble our van, create a new mask, cut windows, and seal up all the panels. We’re thrilled with how this process has been going so far, but we’re still a LONG, LOOOOONNNGGG way from the finish line.

In our last van conversion not only were we on a tight budget, but we were also on a tight timeline. We only had 3 months to convert the old van because of Margaret’s European visa limit. HOWEVER, Margaret is now an official EUROPEAN RESIDENT (WOOT WOOT!), meaning we can take things a bit slower and be as thoughtful as need be. I think the best advice we could give anyone interested in building a van is to take your time to examine what you want, and don’t stress if it takes longer than you expected. If you’d told me at the beginning of the summer that we’d only be at this point today, I would’ve doubted you. Truth is, we’re loving this pace.
**SPOILER**: We’re doing a LOT of custom jobs coming up, the DIY roof windows being the one that has swallowed up the most of our time. We’ve needed to be extra careful to make sure all our solars, roof window fans (purchase & in list), and these DIY ones can all fit nice and easy. Our next steps are to address the solar tilt, install all the windows, the custom water tank, then the floor. PHEW, we got our hands full for sure. We’re Ladi (from Czechia) & Margaret (from USA) and we’re a location independent couple of 4+ years, currently spending 2020 in eastern Czech Republic due to the pandemic.
