My dad used to work at a tool and die shop that machined the dies that made nails. At the time the shop was the largest supplier of nail dies in the world. Which was funny because the shop was about 1000 square feet. The dies they made had to be super accurate. (I want to say 1/1000 of an inch range but I'm probably typing and/or remembering that wrong.) Anyway, he and his coworkers got so good at knowing when a die wasn't to spec they would challenge each other. They would hold a die up that was to spec next to one that wasn't and try to guess how off it was. Dad's coworker Wes, who had worked there for 40 years, was always spot on with his guesses by just eyeballing it. But considering they were staring at these things all day everyday makes you pretty good at it.

The abacus tile should have more rows, they will fit after all. I would rather use that than the caster tile for tracking things. E.g. I've got 6 rounds of rage left, I'm deafened for 10 rounds, my shield spell finishes in 3 rounds, and the boost from my mate has 5 rounds left...

If you're going to go all in on the large hex, you need to have a lid that attaches. Both top and bottom could serve as either dice trays or storage, and they'd latch shut with a handle so you can carry them. While we're at it, make it modular, so you can attack a 3rd or 4th hex, and have connectors to integrate them to the MGT set.

The more dice involved, the more room is needed for a proper roll. Smaller dice need less footprint, but smaller numbers to read. make space for 3 separate poppers might work. I immediately thought of 2 d20. I'm not sure a bubble would fit in those hexes for a proper roll, tho.

• I love the leather strap. Looks very Fantasy-esque. Compact. Dice tray-lite. • I also love Bennet's large tray concept paired with Bobby's continuous design running through the entire circle forming a complete set. That would unlock so many opportunities for skins/themes. Also it looks like it could be the flagship product of the hexagonal trays, like a DM's, all-inclusive, hexagonal tray set. Think of the themes/skins/colors we could make: Abyssal Cthulu, fairy Fey, Dwarvish Stone, Dragon Fire. Fel Green. • About the abacus tile, wouldn't it be cool to have like an analog dial version for counters? (Remember the product review that had one of those?) Because that way you can tidy up your game and resume in your next game where you left off, whereas the abacus style tile would reset itself the moment you tilt it.

As someone who spent way too much money on the tabletop tiles than he should have (but worth it), ALL my tiles are sitting in their original cardboard boxes in another big box in my closet. The hex storage box would be a GODSEND for my tiles. It would be nice to have big ones for master storage, and perhaps something smaller to hold a mere 5-7? I like bringing my tiles over to my parents house so the whole family can play, and I end up meticulously checking the boxes and handing out several tiles per person. It would be great for a compact version that I can pre-organize and hand to each player. "This contains your coaster, card slots, rolling, 3-pieces organize, etc." Just the basics for say, Catan. The belt could be an option - stack a group of tiles and wrap it up. But I don't want them being exposed. The abacus could be modified to be a score/point tracker. Might be useful for team games! Looking forward to what you guys decide! EDIT: I just noticed the mockup of the "citadel' has sides that are longer than the tiles... in that negative space could you place super special dice? OR store pencils along the perimeter? OR if the entire thing was wide enough for a single 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper to fit inside, you could store a character sheet inside or something... just brain-vomiting down here. XD

You got close with the current set on the site, but I can't keep my mini with it so I've never picked one up. For the large hexagon with the hero tile in the centre, I would put some type of tessellation pattern on the smaller hexes so that you only need to design one pattern but they fit together and form 1 congruent image. JM2C
@kmcd6140
@kmcd6140 3 года назад
On the big hex system -- I'd say that most people don't have a huge amount of dice. 1 or 2 of those hex vaults of dice would be plenty for a lot of groups. Building on the premise of the hero vault in the center, I would say 2 dice vaults and the rest the nifty coasters with useful tools on the underside. That would be 8 coasters, plenty for most groups. You could also go with 1 dice vault and have 2 more "fidget factor" coasters. Alternative -- You could create themed hex systems that fit into the big hex. The dice hoard, for one, would work well with the wholistic design concept. Another could be the painter's studio. Pallet papers, mini holders, magnifying glass. Most brushes would need a longer box, so that would need to take 2 spaces. Even vaults for the small paint pots and brush cleaners or paint thinners would be good. Then you could have the GM vault. That one would be all about the minis. Townsfolk in 1 vault, animals in 2 others, and monsters in the rest.

Caster Tile 2.0: 1. Instead of ball bearings, use a magnetic inlay and just have 1 magnet per row and sliding it as you consume spell slots. By using less magnets, you can have a more shallow center and thus allow for a coaster backing. I'd love a spell tracker but I don't want the fuss of dealing with all those ball bearings. 2. Or forgo any metal aspect and use the classic grid system and we use our own dice as the count down for spell slots. If standard dice size feels constricting on a tile, you can scale it to the .5" size d6s and that accommodates 3 rows neatly (either 3-4-3 with only 1 slot for death saves instead of 2 or 3-3-3 and forgo death save slot). Looking at the dice on a tabletop tile with the .5" d6s looks nice with enough space around each spell slot that it doesn't feel tight. As mentioned, both options allow for a coaster backing.

The painting hex is a cute idea, but I'd go bigger. Like tackle box scale with folding drawers and shelves - transformers like mass shifting but in a realistic sense. Also just to one up the idea, a magnetic spray box that collapses and attaches to the base. A platform for painting is just a platform, but a mini paint spray box based off the magnetic dice towers would be pretty cool. Also one that should be considered is a hex tile for storing emergency mini fixing tools. Super glue, razors, contact cement.

Hexagonal coasters with bottle openers on the bottom that fit within a hex container about the size of the hexagonal dice tray. Leather strap that when storing and could probably hold 4 coasters in it. One product to cover your "coaster problem" and give different designs on the cork if you want variety. Make the coaster and dice tray one set if you wanted. Having a dice tray like holder for the coasters allow you to add magnets and create that synergy you're looking for, I agree that the random coaster add on from the last game made drinks you place on them feel precarious and top heavy, disaster waiting to happen if someone bumped them. This idea is helps stream line the other hex's to not complicate the designs with tacked on coaster fluff.

I don't know that I could afford it, but I love Bobby's dice tray + hero vault + dice vaults combo idea, or one of each tile in the next kickstarter (assuming you had 7 of them) or even all of the above for the truly baller customer.

Magnetic Dice tower system that you can fit a tabletop vault doesnt need to be hexagonal it just need to be able to hold tabletop vault + parts that can assembled the into into tower. Also a custom engraving option to match past collection would be cool. (it would be awkward to have Paulie/critical role vault but the tower system that does not match the engraving)

I always carry my Take This Shield in my pocket. It helps me with my anxiety. Gotta say, while I got really lucky and absolutely love the obsidian shield with a copper inlay that I have, a entirely metal one would be awesome. I very frequently nick my wooden shield when I drop it or it falls out of my pocket, but I haven't sent it in for repairs because a) they're very, very minor damages, and b) I don't think I could go more than a week without it. A lightweight metal shield would be awesome.

That large hex dice tray feels large enough to maybe fit a sizable hex battlemap grid on/around/in it. Just a thought. Quick and easy battlemap stand-in.

Feet Idea: Run a raised hex ridge on the bottom with 2 sides missing so the strap will fit, something like ( ) but....hexed.

Don't do painting hex tiles. There's no way I would allow my acrylics, washes, or dirty rinse water anywhere near a wormwood product for fear of messing it up. The hex tile system should split levels with a PC level to include: 1. hero vault 2. dice vault 3.dice popper; and a GM level to include 4.abacus 5.tavern tile 6.status ring holder 7.initiative tracker. Three tiles makes a personal triangle, while 7 makes a radial flower pattern for the center of the table.

scrap the feet on the hex-tiles, make a pad in the shape and size (a bit smaller) of the tile and split it on the middle if you need room for a strap, now you have 2 "feet"

Hex trays - yay! 👏Been asking for this (as I think the hex vaults look neat but don't see the point in a dice vault.. when you can store dice in a dice tray too)

I'd be happy to make a model and BP's for you guys so you could have and find any spec you need in second. Send a table over, better do wenge for science, and that'll be modeled up in no time. I wonder who got to learn the joys of true position for them leg bores.

Consider wetpallets if you are doing pallets. The issue with wet pallets and wood is obvious but also wetpallets needs a lot of room so you can blend your paint properly

I think the d20 dice popper would be dope. Another idea would be one that you could customize by taking the top off so you could change it to 3d6 or something else. Maybe you could put a high variance die in there?

I think you should make spell slot abaci? for DnD full casters (9 rows for each lvl) and half casters (5 rows). I'd buy that, but I'm not sure what else I'd use an abacus for lol

my EDC requires a bag, because I have nothing with deep enough pockets lol, but it'd be wallet, keys, phone, notebook, pen & pencil, gloves, glasses, chewing gum & a safety pin
