Bobby, this is your model episode for peak Wyrmlife. - Ian's update on production and continuous improvement - Bobby's shenanigans - Jason, Doug and Crazy Ed discuss how much detail and thought go into the new chair design - Jason telling us more about his vision for the Company, including branding and perception (and teasing chairs for the modular game table!) The goofy dramatic episodes are great one-offs, but this is repeatable and captures a lot of content. Loved it.

@@Amroth228 if it were me, i'd do two drawers on the side, so there is some material vertically half way down the frame, as well as a cross brace below the drawer for extra support connecting the legs. But that's a lot of finagling material. Honestly i'd rather just have a compartment for the storage and the rail attachment on the sides and/or the arms of the chair.

However I think the idea is to have the rails on the side so that they can hand the modular gaming table accessories like cupholders etc on the side, so drawers would get in the way. Plus if you've got someone next to you then you wouldn't be able to open it. With it where it is now you can spread your legs a little wider (which would be easier if they make the chair narrower) and get to the drawer that way.

Yep! Though...I’m honestly waffling on this... I REALLY want some chairs at some point and am not sure I would want the logo, or not. Definitely on the table. I was contemplating getting the Espresso table because I already have a dark set of counter height chairs....but if they’re making chairs....maybe cherry, or padauk?

@@Farstr1d3r - For chairs, I'd go with Cherry. If you search the internet for Padauk wood, you'll find several articles on the fact that some of the harder woods can cause allergic reactions. While they put a finish on the furniture items, a chair will receive a lot of use over the years and possibly wear down the finish. Someone with very sensitive skin may find sitting in a D&D chair for hours on end toxic to their skin. It's very rare, but as someone who is one of those rare people for different things - the more you know. =)

Just an idea for a logo on the chair if you decide you want one. I know some of the older furniture companies had small brass or bronze button emblems put on the back of the seat of the chair. centered below the back rest. I've got an old bankers chair from "Marble and Shattuck" with such an emblem. Its small, understated, but is a very nice detail.

Great to hear the humidity issue is under control; love the ingenuity shown by the installers. Hopefully the electricians and plumbers get it fully installed before any safety inspections! {grin} The chair design discussion was interesting. I would prefer the drawer to stay in position as I wouldn't want to be holding it open with one hand while I accessed it. The rest of the design; interesting to hear the different viewpoints about radius, fillets, thickness, some very subtle nuances. This is what makes Wyrmlyfe so appealing, bringing the transparency to the fans/customers. Finally; watching Bobby lug his leg all over the place. Made me chuckle. Good job on this episode!

If the chairs don't have logos, they need identification info on them somewhere (under the seat?) so in 10 years if someone wants to order more they know who to contact.

Agree with this. Why would someone pay $1300 for a chair WITHOUT any information on it. I'd hope you'd have at least something, even if hidden, but that logo displayed prominently, to me, seems like an indication of the craftsman's guarantee. Personally, I'd be inclined to put it on the back of the backrest at the top, that would be slightly discreet while casually looking, but you'd see it every time you pulled it out to sit down.

They are right though in the high end. When you're spending nearly 10k on a set of 6 chairs, you don't want a bunch of logos (aka marketing) slapped on them in your face. I think the little wyrmwood on the back was a good compromise

Agree with all the critiques on the chair. Definitely go with no visible logo. If anything I would have "master craftsman" due a burn in signature on the underside of the chair to make it feel more custom the same way Ashley Harwood does with her hand turned products. For the backrest, I would either flair the top of the back rest in so that it narrows slightly or out so that it widens slightly to add a little more drama to the design. I understand there's a production cost to factor for there that may keep that from being feasible.

I like the ideas for making it better but I actually also really like wider chairs. Put the drawer that is underneath the seat on the side. You have to get up out of the seat and pull it away from the table just to open it from the front. Your legs will be in the way

arms on the chair should be more rounded to fit the curve of the palm of the hand. kinda like palming some sort of fruit.. I do like the extra wide seat, gives the ability to stash stuff under table height. I also like the self closing drawer, maybe if you can tilt the insert a little that the drawer is flat but it slides at the angle.

Alright here's my updated take on the chair design. A tray that can fully slide through below the seat. Neodymium magnets to hold in place. Chair has magnets placed so the tray can pull out far enough to access contents, so a line of internal magnets say 4 inches in. Likely want inserts for the eat tray for storing minis/dice/etc. Gives you quick access while seated, can be pulled out completely, uses materials already in use for other products. Rail system per gaming table on both arms.

Arbitrary number magnets for clarification. So tray for storage below seat would have 5 magnets on the left and right edge, a magnet 4(or halfway or whatever) inches in on each side on the front and back. The chair would have 2 magnets at the edge, and 5 magnet line 4(or whatever) inches in. This feels hard to explain with words, but basically a tray to store components that you can fully pull out but still has a system for partial pull out, if you want that drawer functionality... or like baby chairs (partial pull out joke)

The humidity pump setup is literally a description of my last working environment. I had a garden hose hooked to a 1 inch line filling a 5000 gallon tank. Took 13 hours to fill.

Niche short person opinion on the chair: 90% of chairs are too high for me to comfortably put my feet flat on the ground while sitting in them. Since shorter chairs means the table is too high, I usually sit with at least one foot tucked under me or with my legs crossed ("criss-cross applesauce" as we were taught in school). If there is a strut connecting the front of the arm rest to the front of the chair, and the chair is too narrow, it's hard to sit that way, so I like the wider seat Ed did.
