Some of the movement on display makes me think people might be singing a different tune about Tekken 8 in a couple of years once people get really good at it. If past trends are anything to go by, what we are seeing here will eventually be standard for high level play and the best of the best will be able to do even more.
I completely agree. Once the knowledge and skill rises, the game will continue to be so impressive. The ONLY concern is the attraction to actual Casino gameplay that tends to come with DLC designs. Eddy is super guilty of this, even if he's not top tier
@@PhiDX i feel like eddys ridiculous 50/50s are balanced out by his terrible punishment and lack of good pokes. they made him purely a mixup character in this game, for better or worse
- Went pro at such a young age - 5 Years of 2nd place finishes at international tournaments - Got his visa to the US denied 3 times - The lone PH rep that went to NA in a 1600 man bracket - A runback of EVO Japan 2019 - Sticking with shaheen all through out the lifespan of Tekken7 regardless of nerfs After winning CB it was leaked on reddit that PBE has disbanded with the CEO owing massive debt to players and coaches, the only reason why AK still wears the PBE colors is because he feels bad for their championship roster pubg team. He pays for their salaries using his tournament winnings AK really earned this win!!!
i loved AK's playstye this whole game and really wanted him to win this major. even tho i am pakistani, AK played very well and really deserved it. None less with shaheen as well.
Arslan is at the point where he knows he’s the man to beat, the way he smiled after AK popped off was like “damn I’m such a chad at Tekken that I get pop offs like that”
Agreed on crowd mics! And I think the presence of more may even incentivize crowds to be louder in certain regions. It really creates a special experience having that type of atmosphere. I do think home crowds could have a better appreciation of high level play though as you alluded to, rather than only cheering loudly after their favorites win. There should be a certain "code of the duel" that allows people to be nasty haters during the match and celebrators of the show after it. I'd like to see you seek out more opportunities on the circuit to co-commentate with other up-and-comers in that field to develop chemistry with them. Maybe online tournaments are the most manageable at the moment for a resume. Additional experience might even help unlock a new level for your play. I feel like with your general attention to numerous scenes and the history of Tekken, your ability to diagnose, dissect, and disseminate player intentions in the moment, your sense of the heartbeat of action, and your humility/ear to criticism, this would be the perfect collaborative endeavor to really vault your ability to contribute to the Tekken ecosystem. It was great seeing how hype you were alone in your CB room for this! It was like watching Gerry Bertier fist pumping for his boys in the championship haha. What an amazing showcase of T8! Hope the momentum continues with DreamHack. Good video!
Ngl in recent years Tekken has had hype moments in CB (Rickstah vs Knee a few years back comes to mind) but this might be the best Top 8 for Tekken in Combo Breaker (with an incredible Grand Finals set to close it out) in quite some time. We’ll probably be talking about AK’s run and Arslan’s run through loser’s to make it to Grands in the foreseeable future. Literally, a story 5 years in the making that started with Arslan first winning Evo Japan against AK and now AK getting his run back in a new game.
@phidx I was there. We weren't cheering for water. We were supporting the players choice to hydrate and keeping them in the game and keeping ourselves hype. I personally sat threw 4 top 8's and drank at least 5 32oz water bottles. It was such a good and positive thing for all of us. This top 8 was soo stacked it was hard to choose who I would root for tbh. Keeping the noise going and loving some of the best Tekken I've seen to date. Thanks to the dude for saying "Is that water"? Oh yeah here we goo! H20! H20! H20! Combo Breaker 2024 was amazing! The midwest crowd is the best crowd. Comedy and love everywhere. Oh and vodka. And tequilas. Yeah. They were lit
Seeing Chikurin's and AK's no loss runs, both with different characters, tells me that Tekken 8 is not really just a casino game, as vloggers claim it is. There's some mastery these 2 champions have picked up first.
Everyone in the PH community supports AK... He is the only good player here that can go toe to toe against the biggest names in Tekken History... I remember he was really happy that he won against a very strong opponent. That dedication was truly inspiring
Personally I feel like these match/tournament reviews should be done as one big video cause ultimately splitting them up like this doesn't really help with anything. If you plan on watching the entire tournament you're going to have to sit through hours of footage no matter how you cut it and if you're just looking for a specific match then it's inconvenient having to wait a day or two for it to get uploaded. Plus it's kinda messy imo having the same tournament split into several videos it seems simpler and neater to have it all in one video.
Everyone’s adapting to a completely new playstyle to T7, I don’t understand how people expected Arslan, Knee ect to dominate straight out of the gate. We gotta study the game first.
I thought cheering for water is really cool. I couldn't pick between them, but that was just such good Tekken! I wanted to cheer for water as well, because they're all so good, all amazing players, can't pick. So inspiring!
Checked out Arslan’s stream yesterday and he immediately started the stream by saying that AK didn’t play that well and said other things. Pretty weird talk for someone that lost.
Meh, I don't Listen to pros when they talk. All that comes out is shit. I only care about their gameplay, they can talk the talk all they want, their true selves will come out once they walk the walk.
@@janematthews9087arslan was actually right though. Ak dropped a lot of combos. Granted shaheen combos are hard to pull off. Especially the big boy combos. But ak did win by pure willpower and skills. Ak was the better player. No diss to arslan. Ak was just better that matchup
Ok Am I the only one that thinks that cheering for the water it's because you don't want to cheer against any of the players? Like they both are doing their best and are not locals (so no bias there) so may as well show hype in general for the MVP hydration 💧
Knee is still playing T7 unfortunately. He needs to adapt. Also gunshot damage needs a heavy handed nerf. Nina is too fast and too safe to be doing 60% combos
Hi, I was banned by you on Twitch because I wrote Tekken sucks..I was just about to explain it, then you banned me..great streamer really...Tekken 8 is way too aggressive in the game style and everyone only plays the simplest ones champs. Super stupid. But thank you for not letting even a small comment from a depressed viewer pass through without an explanation afterwards. Didn't expect anything less from a Tekken nerd.
"everyone plays the simplest champs", it's because that's their preference "too aggressive?" Nah fighting games are meant to be like that you deserve to stay banned.
how would he know you are depressed? you literally said a negative comment about the game he's streaming, you being depressed does not have a correlation lol
@@godwin8260 Oh, did I hurt your little fan feelings? I'm sorry.... well first of all you better learn to read because I wrote that I wanted to explain my negative comment immediately but the guy was immediately so hurt in his little world that he didn't even need 5 seconds to banish it. In contrast to Tekken 7, the game is much more geared towards aggressive gameplay (see e.g. heat function). Mashers and cheap champs are more preferred because there is no real counterplay anymore, unless you really play in the high ranks with wo you memorize the moves of each champion in detail. Sorry again if your little fan brain doesn't understand this. He's welcome to leave the childish ban in. so have fun to think about this and stfu. :D
@@666slateran666 WTF you are talking about. Nobody is #1 yet. Give it at least one season. Chikurin won Evo Japan, but was 13th in Combo Breaker. Arslan couldn't even go to Evo Japan. People like you also said Knee is done, and he finishes 5th in CB with freaking Bryan FFS!
So happy for AK. Literally grinding since he was a child and finally won a Major. Helps that im also Filipino but thats beside the point lol. Huge congrats!
@@azteckjumbie9344 This state of the game is only way these kind of underdogs get high chance to win. Or maybe sometimes, someone needs that first time, and it takes ages to come.
@Pswayze23 First I see this opinion about this type of voice, I personally find it pretty meh. Well projected, high pitch voice is miles better than low energy, fried voice or giggles every sentence.
Plus it would be really cool as someone who knows whats happening. Like i know the commentators actually play the game and know whats going on, but i think Phi could do it a lil better and give a break down for those that dont play the game.
yep AK is definitely an old head for sure. his environment when growing up was tekken teams fighting left and right with deathmatches always going on all the time. And also one of the reasons why most philippine players don't give a shit about which side you're on, cause whatever side is available to play on in the arcades at that time is what you get to play on, so which side AK is playing on won't matter because of that. just a god like play style on AK
Final match was so hype, didn't know who I wanted to root for the returning champ who fought through losers bracket or the long time underdog! Shit was absolutely top tier!!!
