You've heard it many times before... If you leave a putt short, it has no chance of going in. Well, it's time to finally stop leaving your putts short. You leave putts short when you decelerate for a few reasons. One, you reduce the speed of the putter head (sometimes) and second, you add loft and therefore backspin to the ball. When you try to stop decelerating, you try to accelerate the putter head, which still adds loft! This creates dramatic inconsistencies, and you end up with no speed control.
To solve this issue, you have to focus on accelerating the handle, not the putter head! The first step in this process is to focus on pushing the trail hand. This helps you maintain a consistent loft through the strike leading to forward roll just after impact. When you learn to do this properly, you will stop decelerating, and stop leaving putts short!
