The Bible is so well written

as I was listening to this, I finally understood God's last statement to Job. He wasn't rationalizing Himself to Job; the conversation was the final test for Job to see if he would remain faithful to God even when God appeared unjust. the reason God would bargain with the satan (the accuser) was not to set Job up; God knew Job better than Job knew himself because He knew Job's heart. God actually set the accuser up because He wouldn't have made an agreement where Job would be a pawn and lose. the trial of Job wasn't to punish Job, but to prove to the satan that he, the satan, did not understand Job. God gave back to Job after his time of trial and thousands of years later we continue to learn from this encounter.

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

I relate this analysis to my own life within my immediate family. I went through the tortuous suffering and survived, to learn how to teach my children to prosper amd move forward without being tortured due to their naivity. Being informed from the group (our immediate family, social structure and good schooling), will help them go forth prosperously and unscathed, I'm praying.

JBP is referring to Carl Jung's Answer to Job. The petulant, jealous, even petty God of the beginning now is angered that He has been 'rebuked' by His conscience over what He has done to Job. The book of Job is true even from a mythical or non Christian perspective because it centralizes man's willingness to stay true to himself in acknowledging and recognizing The Truth of God's Existence, Word and Character in giving credit to everything you have to our Creator and Lord even in the midst of great Evil and suffering. Jordan Peterson brings depth to the perception of the Scriptures. If church leaders had such deep knowledge of and such ability to articulate the Scriptures, the churches would be full every time the doors opened.

I think I get it. God was proving that we can and should obey God’s teachings no matter if life is going well or terribly. Our job is not to question our fate so much as to deal with our fate in a way that honors and pleases God. This is what Job was learning. We don’t do what is right merely for what we will receive for doing it, but because we obey God.

I've lived with an auto-immune disease, doctors have called "multiple sclerosis", for going on 35 years, yet it is merely called such, as I have come to view it, a name with some vestige of meaning, but in fact, primarily descriptive of it's impact, and not of means or method. As I listen to Dr. Peterson, I have realized it is very much the same as the old testament descriptions, and his explanations very much the same as the doctors. We tend to take the things explicated by "experts", and place them in categories, places they seem to fit or occupy yet in the end, their name is merely descriptive, and what we truly get from this, is the reality we see in them in, their place, so to speak, and accept the description as a "name" and giving power, value to the name, seldom dissecting it, and seeing it for what it is. We have risen to great power, very much as the British empire did, in our own way, very much as they did, in their version of Rome's way, which parallels it's own predecessor, leading all the way back, as Dr. Peterson takes us to, in his descriptive narrative. It seems to me to illustrate the fallen nature of all our societies, that despite our best intents, we fall prey to the same forces that led to the wars which consumed people throughout history, ever repeating the same ways. I came to faith because of the insanity of the eighties, and where we, Marines, went, and never knowing the real power determining the imposition of power external, and never really justified with reason, logic, factual truths that would lead to understanding. We "go abroad to slay monsters, never well articulated, exemplified", but named, demonized, and the root causes never given over to any functional truth. We are constantly told to forget the last debacle, our concern should be on the present issue at hand, which like all those in the past, is never justified, except after the fact with myth, lies, obfuscation. It often seems the only rest we can have is in faith, I am reminded of Solomon, and his declaration of everything is vanity, and it begins to take on real meaning. For much of my life "Solomon was the great king", and only in the last years, do I see his parallel failures to every other "king" leading up to Jesus.

The story of Job is an archetype that honors the narcissistic parent/codependent child relationship. The fundamental basis of that relationship is that neither mind develops an emotionally stable and autonomous self that can respond directly to innate feelings. The basis of the narcissist/codependent relationship is that each mind is dependent on getting who or what they are from the projections, introjections, and dependencies of the other. Jordan's speech in this video is an example of the vicious circles of thoughts. bogus problems and hallucinations that the mind generates as distractions. The mind generates distractions where it feels overwhelmed by feelings for which it has not developed the capacity and skills to respond.

When my daughter died I read the book of Job and raged at God for the answer he gave to a man who had lost everything. One thing is for sure I do not understand the God of the book of Job.

Before Adam ate from the tree of Knowledge he was sovereign as being in contact with the most high, and the story of job, is a lesson in what happens when one is without sovereignty of mind. Within the book it also points towards where the laws of heaven are depicted, and this is the crux, if you understand the laws in heaven you will understand what sovereignty of mind entails. The celestial sphere, your life, your psyche is mapped out and written upon the stars. In the creation story, of seven days, to create the world in seven days, one needs to reference a construct, and this construct is how time came into being. If you want to understand how it ends, you need to find out where it began, as the snake eats its own tail.

I always visualize the book of Job as God being the casino, Satan is the compulsive gambler, and Job " humans" are the dice. Satan craps out everytime.

I believe it's true. So much can be learned from it. Everyone will go through several or all of these circumstances. In the beginning we might curse God, but that just makes it worse. The story shows that the only one you can truly rely on is God. Job ended up enduring it well and because of the mercy of God he received more than he possed in the beginning. Bear your crosses.

If the Bible is true-and I have no reason to doubt it-then God is an Absolute and Eternal being (of necessity) and the Creator of everything outside of himself. He is also, therefore, the very first experiential knowledge gained by humanity (in the persons of Adam and Eve). Mankind did not slowly evolve into monotheism, but began there with the knowledge of the one true and living God. That’s the beginning. The only problem I have with JP’s lecture is the implication that the truthful historical account of the Bible “follows” some ancient pagan story telling. The actual ‘writing’ of Job may follow it, but the realities underlying the story were known of to mankind from the beginning, so no dependence on pagan myths need be inferred.

I'm not afraid of Satan or demons. That's not to say I mock them. However, if they do exist, then there must be a God.

From my understanding, satan is Hebrew translation of an accuser and not the embodiment of the devil himself.

To the devil what happened to Job Was a bet but To God the story would be written and provide several examples of faith. Probably the first of this reason was to survive an example that God is always with you and if there are difficult times God is also the way through the difficult times. And the difficult times about building character. The other story is we careful not to judge others and what they are going through. As a person you are not qualified for that and you may do more damage than good in your judge mental behavior. And finally another opportunity that comes from the story was the opportunity for God to speak about creation in first person to Job which provides great insight to the believer. Now for me I look at the story of Job and don’t think I would have done even as well as he. I am strong believer and I want nothing for the rest of my life to be a good example of my faith. But I am weak and I have been weak and it is reading stories like this that remind me how important it is to stay in God‘s word daily to give me the strength for the difficult times. I have a job to do here that is to be an example of faith and to lead others to the everlasting life through the forgiveness and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. My joy and my reward do come in this lifetime but will really come in eternity. Because of man’s sin, life here will remain troublesome and difficult. I look at it as the place where we do our growing up, our learning, and our understanding so that we can fully appreciate our eternal life should we accept God’s gift and sacrifice through Jesus and do our best to repent from sin and light the way for others. I know it would be so much easier to believe none of this is true, but this is something wrong… Eternity. I want to be with God. Additionally there is so much real evidence that the Bible stories are true! Believe!

Job, from wealth to persecution to wealth... yet the persecution wasn't determinate upon others around him, seemingly more just a metaphysical strife standing between God (that which is good, salvation, etc...) and Satan ("The Anger of the Lord", wrath, the adversary, etc)... to think of a kind of "forever entropy that never happens creating an eternity" of sorts, with the toil of life standing within the expanse (differentiation, separation, etc)... why did God allow Satan to persecute Job? Isn't that just the essence of life itself? How do we sense through sensation and cognizantly recognize that sensation through perception other than by a simple contrast or differentiation therein from a basic concept of such? Symbiosis, yet with an antagonistic portion of differentiation...?...🤔

Between verse 1 and verse 2 of Genesis 1 was the war on heaven between Satan and Michael and Gabriel. That’s the record in Revelations 12 where they were imprisoned here on earth and he lost all his powers. Elohim appointed Adam as Satan’s guard and to Adam was given all the dominion over all the earth. Elohim also gave Adam a helpmeet named Eve and their marriage was set on her 15th birthday. At 40 days before their wedding, Elohim gave Eve her holy spirit so she can talk with Him. But Eve’s free will told her to speak to Satan. In turn, Satan question the integrity of Elohim word by saying, “Did Elohim really said not to eat of the fruit of evil enjoyment?” Then Eve repeated the command of Elohim but added the word, “Neither shall ye touch it”. Satan accused Elohim,” For Elohim knew that if you eat the fruit of evil enjoyment, you will be like the angels in heaven you do orgy in heaven,”. So when Eve finally touch her apple, her eyes were opened in climatic bursts of sexual feelings and her spirit died within her. When Adam showed up for their honeymoon, she shared her newfound toy and Adam did the same thing and he died spiritually. When they finally did the right way, Eve’s womb starts to bleed and they remembered the command that they will surely die. But part of Adam’s mistake is that he gave the dominion over all the earth to Satan. Realizing their sin, they tried to hide from Yahweh and they tried to stop the blood flow by covering Eve private part with fig leaves, an anticoagulant. Elohim redeemed them from instant death by offering Satan a blood sacrifice of His favorite lamb and Satan was offered the lamb’s flesh which was consumed by fire by Satan. The skin of the lamb became the token of their salvation by covering the source of their sin. When Cain and Abel had their 15th birthday, Adam performed lambs offering to Satan to acknowledge Satan dominion over the earth. But on their own sacrifice at their 30th birthday, Cain disobeyed the rules by offering the fruit of the ground instead. Satan did not accept Cain’s offering and an angel showed Cain his brother Abel carrying a lamb on his shoulder. Cain got an idea that since Abel was righteous, and a messiah type person, he could offer him to Satan and end the cursed of the ground., because Cain was a tiller of the ground. At the time of Job, the meeting of angels in heaven, Satan came to represent his dominion, the earth. At the time of Israelites sacrifice of blood offerings, this set them apart by paying their rent to Satan. Jesus death on the cross was the final payment to Satan and is how we received our redemption from sin.

If this man practiced kabbalah with Kundalini and the kabbalah tree, he would know. Jewish mysticism is what he needs to practice. Many can say I'm full of it, but if this man practiced that work he'd have a full comprehensive understanding. Meditation is the key.

I think job is the story of the lamb of GOD

Tim Mackie of The Bible Project interprets the character of Satan in the book of Job differently. He claims the book of Job refers to "satan" not "the Satan". He argues that the book's Satan is "an accuser ", not "the Accuser ". I am not student of Hebrew, but this interpreter makes more sence to my understanding of God. I encourage you to his explanation in full rather than my short interpretation. I have read the book of Job many times and this is my interpretation. The book is a barometer of trust. I can read the book and come to the end and rest in the fact that God is great and God loves me and I cannot comprehend that love. Six months later, I can read the book and feel sorry and angry for Job for the casual way God treats this good man. It is the same book. I am the same person, but my attitude towards God is different. Job changes his attitude towards God. I believe that our attitude towards God changes. God understands this, but his attitude towards us is steadfast.

The Word of God is Truth. Jesus is The Word. Jesus said, I AM the way, the TRUTH and the life. The meaning of the words can be found in the relationship with the author of the book, God Himself. The Holy Spirit is the Teacher whose job is to lead us into all Truth. As Christians we are called to partake of the blessing of suffering as Christ did. Job had reached a level where he qualified to suffer. Great is his reward in eternity.

I wonder if God and Satan had a bet on whether or not the whole of humanity could be tricked into destroying itself along with the beautiful earth…..I can’t personally come up with any other explanation for what’s happening right now.

I heard somewhere that Job was the first book, or oldest story from the Bible, any truth to that? I am aware that the Old testament is not in chronological order. But I always thought Genesis was the first book, because it's the story of the beginning. I've only been studying the history of the Bible for a short time, and it is one very confusing topic. I wonder what it would have been like to actually Walk with Jesus and hear from him first hand.

God's rant sounds like a Monty Python skit. This book has been a bane of my misery. What are we supposed to learn from it. It portrays God as a malicious bully conniving with Satan. I guess the intent is to explain the times we suffer immensely for unknown cause. A lesson of resilience and recovery.

One thing that no one ever seems to remember in the Book of Job. Towards the end of that book, God bends down, and whispers into Job's ear, saying: "Thine own right hand could have saved thee." Yahweh (Jehovah) is mankind, and mankind is, God over all the earth.

Whoah.... God did not harass Job. Secular theology always rings hollow.

I disagree with Jordan at this because it is not God trying to justify himself to Job, it's actually the other way around. Job is trying to justify himself to God and God is basically shattering that and not only that, God reminds Job that he is nothing with or without his riches. God is basically telling Job that his works cannot be justified, but if he would stop justifying his innocence and instead trust God even through his situation without complaining then he would reap even more blessings, but Job failed and instead God had to reveal his glory to Job in order for him to understand that there was nothing for him to justify and instead God is sovereign over everything. As well, if you read the book correctly and understand God's character then, you would understand that God was testing Job and at the same building him up and making him stronger spiritually. Job needed to go through what he went through in order to understand God's glory and majesty which Job didn't understand first.

It's a shame how these stories are used for pyscological purposes by certain organisation's , It's very clever but damaging to ones soul . Using the bible as a weapon basically by human being's can be very dangerous not only for the victim / Target but also for the perpetrators , you have to be either wise and so righteous as God it self or foolish enough to even try.

If the book of Job is true, God is an absolute monster. There is no other conclusion. Reading Job has devastated me. It exposes God as an utter tyrant. I wish I'd never read it.

God isn't trying to justify himself to Job. Job never losses faith in God, he begins to think his friends must be right and he has somehow offended God. God becomes irritated with Job because Job questions God's justice but doesn't account for the fact that outcomes in life rarely are just and God has made all things in time and space and all choices or events lead to the same ultimate outcome. With men God of course let's the best be tested with suffering and the worst he tries to win by easing their suffering. Those he already has he gives to the adversary to test. Note that it isn't Satan who instigated the bet but God. While it is Satan who proposes it God manipulates him into doing so and in the end disposes. He knew Job would not lose faith in God and he also knew Job would be further tested by his peers who are so stupid they suggest that Job himself must be responsible . He must have done something wrong so Job doubts his own righteousness not God's. God deigns to speak to Job to remind him that it wasn't about him at all and his being led ro doubt himself by his stupid friends is what irritates God The Father. I think God even says something about the stupidity of jobs friend's in suggesting that Job is the reason Job was given over to suffering. God was irritated that Job who even after being tested in the most horrible ways and was still faithful onto God, doubted himself on account of his foolish friends who God suggests know less than Job and nothing at all. God asks Job " Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth and set the cornerstone thereof"? In other words God is saying you don't know even the smallest part of the glory of creation, how dare you suggest that you, small as you are in the grand scheme, could do anything to cause me to alter it for good or ill? God never tells Job that Satan was the reason Job was tested, he only tells him that events unfolded as he, God, had planned and that Job had done nothing to deserve his suffering only that all living things suffer in their time but that just as he may take away so too he gives. Job is reassured that he was not at fault and he went forward reassured that not only had he done nothing wrong but that God's plan was inscrutable and that his continued faith would in it's time be rewarded. And it was so. Job had double or better in all the properties he lost and he had a new wife and new family even more pleasing to Job than the family he lost because now Job understood that faith was more than being faithful when everything goes your way but is even more valuable to God when you maintained that faith through hard times and that in truth faith and love of God is the real reward itself since suffering is going to happen no matter what. How much more does God appreciate one who loves him even though they suffer? Enough to speak to them directly and impart divine wisdom to them in Jobs case. A great privlege that but only very few humans have ever had. To be addressed directly by God The Father for their sake of understanding.

Yeh a hell of a midlife crisis, if only the lads knew

Hallelujah Have you ever thought about Jesus could raise the dead, but Job had never asked GOD to resurrect his offsprings? Hallelujah The Bible didn’t show too many details about Job’s offsprings and their Faithfulness. So I can only assume that the Father/ or Great grandfather Job had his own understanding of his offsprings. Hallelujah Have you ever thought of JOB didn’t die before his offsprings? And why didn’t you think JOB didn’t think the same thoughts of yours? And JOB kept firmly of his Faithfulness to his GOD. Why? Maybe the Bible didn’t explain how JOB discovered GOD’s GRACE towards himself. The only reason JOB could firmly hold on to GOD was whatever JOB experienced himself that nobody knew before because JOB had never told anyone. Only the passerby wrote down whatever JOB had experienced in physical form, but not spiritual mind.
