I like the alternating English and Korean conversational format of your travel vlogs. It adds a bit more authenticity, nuance and knowledge of Korea that a lot of other travel vlogs are missing. Also, I'm trying to re-learn my Korean, and I find your conversations very helpful as well :)
Budae Jjigae is the most historic food of South Korea, in my opinion. The dish was created as a means of survival for the Korean people during the war. Cheers and stay warm!
It truly is eh Thoan! It's pretty crazy how much Korea has changed in just one generation. Stay warm out there too, and hope we get some mild days for cycling soon!
My wife grew up from this town, and we are visiting in-laws regularly there. It is my pleasure to see someone pays an attention to this little but lovely area.
@estebanpark thanks for sharing your story! We've gotten a few comments from people who are familiar with the area which is really interesting to see. It's a beautiful area too!
@Mudskipper9876 it's a really interesting neighbourhood for sure, and the Buddhist temple there in the mountains was quite peaceful and serene too. I really recommend going to some random temples if you come here, and especially look up Beobjusa (법주사) near Songnisan Mountain (속리산) or Woljeongsa (월정사) near Odaesan Mountain (오대산). Those are two of the most beautiful temples I've ever seen!
I grew up next to camp Red Cloud in Uijeongbu from 68 - 77 so I enjoyed your video very much. So sad the camp closed last year so it's just filled with abandond buildings. Thanks guys for making this nice video.
Thanks so much @2GoodLookin! Oh wow I'm glad you could see a bit of your old neighbourhood again! Too bad that the camp closed and things are changing. It must have been a completely different place back then!
I used to live in Eujungbu from 1986 to 1989 (near a railroad near the US army base). I don't recognize anything. Ha ha. Thank you for the video. You made my day!!
Oh wow @peacew6 it must look so different now from back then! Glad you could see it again though and thanks a lot! We actually just filmed another random adventure today and ended up back in a newer neighbourhood under development in Uijeongbu and it's insane how many high rise buildings there are up there now.
Nice , Hoeryong is just up the road from me 👍 You should head into the Bukhansan park, even in winter it’s spectacular, of if you want to try Suraksan ,there’s an uncle at the summit selling refreshments - ie maekgolli 😬
Oh nice @Geeraffe thanks for the tips! Hoeryong is a nice area for sure! Really want to check out Bukhansan/Suraksan from Uijeongbu as I've only done it from the South. Awesome to hear about the ajeossi on Suraksan too! Haha. Stay warm!
