In this vlog episode I explain how I ended up modelling for My Handmade Wardrobe in my 40s for the first time and what it was like.
Of course whilst on my little adventure I found a fabric shop too.

Thank for taking the time to share, I to have been lost after reaching 70 I thought that's it just waiting for God now. It has taken me 3yrs to start to find myself and now he's got wait for me

I’m 70 and just bought my first ever denim jacket to wear with my Sew over it Nomi dress, does it suit me…….who cares I love it 😂😂

Thank you so much, Sam. I am in the US and am coming up early next year on my 70th birthday. Your words have encouraged me. There’s still a lot of life left in us girls no matter our age. It’s important that we remember it.

Great advice Sam never too old to “ Be You” and do what you enjoy I started sewing again in my 70s and so many people said why bother easier to just buy but the joy I get from having my own sewing room and making something I can wear brings me so much pleasure why not enjoy it while I can Great job on the modelling even though you were tired you had fun 👍❤️🌹

Yay Sam! You jumped way past your comfort zone and came back with wonderful stories, and, as usual, then richly embellished them by adding your own history and fantastic advice for us all. I especially loved the turning, posing, redoing, twisting montage of what it's like to pose. My neck was flaring in sympathy waiting for it to stop or at least pause. No wonder you came home really tired. It's so interesting what birthday turns out to be a difficult milestone; for me it was 30. Turning 70 was no big deal for me. I love being free from having to wear conservative or fire-safe work wear and instead going maximum cutesy/artsy/woodsy/earthy/color or whatever I feel like wearing, Antonia

Love what you’re saying, great words of encouragement. I recently turned 50, only recently found the sewing community and I have to say it’s so supportive, you only have to look at the sewing bee which is essentially a competition to see that they support each other, they may be competing for the title but it’s not cut throat. Which is a what the whole community is like. I even started vlogging as I felt comfortable enough in this community that I wouldn’t be thrown out 😂 congrats on your modelling and thank you for sharing 😊

Thank you Sam for a lovely, heartwarming vlog. You are so lovely yourself! You 20:06 hit the nail on the head for me! I used to sew until I had children, then moved to the States in the late 80s. Life happened and now looking at 70 years old next year!! I’ve loads of fabric just waiting to be sewn, but now I’m many sizes bigger than I was when I was 30 years younger - I’m probably afraid of failure but you’ve encouraged me to get cracking! Meantime, Google Maps is my friend too and I often wonder how I ever survived without it all those years ago! My advice to myself then was: You’re not lost, you’re just finding a new way home🥰

Good for you Sam. It’s so sad how women, especially, can feel particularly affected by our age. Society , advertising, media all play a massive part in making us feel less because of an age number. I’m 58 and have been dreading my 60th birthday… but as a friend who has her 90th birthday next month said to me, I’m lucky to still be here and I don’t fancy the alternative! 😀 So you’re absolutely right, Sam, we’re not done! 🤗

Yes, society's expectations of what we're supposed to do or not do, or be capable of doing at certain ages can be so limiting if we allow that. Patronising too. 😤 I've been training in and teaching Shotokan karate for 28 years. My black belt is more or less white now, it's so well worn and I can give you almost a quarter of a century, Sam! I don't let anyone else tell me what's appropriate or not for someone like me to do or how to dress.

Great vlog as always. I remember Trinny and Suzannah (they used to do a fashion programme on TV) say ladies over 40 shouldn’t wear pink and I stopped wearing it for a while but it was my favourite colour and after a while of feeling sad I suddenly thought what am I doing? Why am I listening to them so did exactly as you say and didn’t listen to them anymore as pink made me happy. Love your words and you are so right there is room in the boat for everyone ❤❤

Great blog as always, positive inspiration, I’ve struggled since turning 70 this year, I have discovered a rekindled love of water aerobics and that’s given me a boost and I’ve rediscovered my tummy muscles too. I’ve bought my first denim jacket to wear with my me made Nomi dress…….does it suit me…..who cares, I love it 😊 PS the same person has cut my hair for the last 37 years 🤪

Really enjoyed this video. Not an age thing but I am totally lost since having my three kids. Don't really know what suits me to wear anymore with my changed body and don't feel like I have that much to offer anymore other then mummy. I'm guna try and put myself out there a bit more and find some sewing friends x
