In midlife, having a sense of purpose keeps things interesting and moving forward. It's that extra kick of motivation that helps women in midlife tackle the ups and downs that come with this phase. Whether it's diving into a new hobby, finding fulfillment in work, or simply nurturing relationships, having a purpose adds a sprinkle of excitement to everyday life. It's like a secret ingredient that makes everything a bit more flavorful and meaningful.
In this interview Honey Good and I talk more about what it means to have purpose in mid-life.
Honey Good is a role model for women who aspire to continue blooming in their golden
years. A cancer survivor, a widow in her forties, a globetrotter, and a published author, Honey
Good embodies the mantra that “age is just an attitude.”
Challenged to discover her true voice through daily journaling, Honey embarked on a blogging
venture in her 60s. Her mantra , “I dive in and think later. Fear of the unknown is never an
option,” reflects her fearless attitude towards life.
Through her website, HoneyGood.com, and her three private Facebook group communities: Estranged Mothers and Grandmothers: Millions Strong, Women Over 50; Celebrate Visibility, and Sisters in Widowhood: Life Transition- Honey Good gives back hope to millions of women.

If your love is unconditional then why is your child not speaking to you? As an adult child who chose estrangement, I think that may be one of the biggest reasons why we stop speaking to our parents. Also, parents who are not loyal is another problem. I was fortunate to have three grandparents whose love for me was unconditional and were loyal. Such a gift they gave me! I don't feel like my parent's generation is the same. Their generation does not know how to say "I'm sorry", it's not in their vocabulary. I don't get along with their generation as well as I do with that of my grandparents. I'm going to be 60 yrs old at the end of the year. Quentin Tarantino gave some good advice to parents a couple years ago, he said "There are consequences for your words as you deal with your children ..."

About estrangement from adult children ( and grandchildren)… it does seem to be rather common now - don’t know the estimates. I do wonder if the prevalence today of internet psychologists talking about “ toxic” relationships and condoning this type of cut off has a lot to do with it. While of course abusive parents do exist, one has to wonder who these adult children are who may be cutting out parents with whom they have a less than ideal relationship - but not abusive. Just saying… Family therapy can help! Even if the parent and adult child don’t go together, if one goes, it can be helpful. But the therapist should be trained in family therapy.
