Thanks for taking the time to put together the review on this interesting Pietro grinder. Just a couple of points to consider for future reviews : 1) It would have been quite useful to prospective customers if you had timed how long it took to grind the 20 grams. You repeatedly said that it took "quite a while." That can mean a lot of different things to different people. 2) A head to head timed comparison with a well known hand grinder would give people a helpful frame of reference. 3) It would have been useful if you had put the grounds on a white sheet of paper, done a close-up with the camera, and then commented on the consistency of the grind. Again, a head to head comparison with a couple of different hand grinders would have been of use to consumers. Cheers

Can you read my mind? I'm exactely searching for a comparison between Pietro, Ode V2 and Sculptor. Can't wait to see which one performs best in filter brewing.

That crank handle looks like it comes down too close to the desktop, trapping fingers; and being on the side introduces instability. It needs a larger base to oppose this lateral force but also because I can see some rotational instability. It's frustrating. It has taken considerable time and money obviously to get to this stage.

Asked the manufacturer and they said a base is on its way!

Thanks .. very interesting. But how long did it take you to grind the beans? Why didn't you mention the time as that is a key selling component...was this a sponsored review or something?

It looks like these burrs are the “pro brew” burrs (not the “multipurpose” ones) based on the geometry of 4 deep grooves/ cuts instead of 8. The Alternative Brewing channel was also given what they thought were “multipurpose” brew burrs but were in fact the “pro brew” ones.

Based on price, as a home grinder I'd be comparing it against the Eureka Mignon Specialita. For someone who might have a small kitchen and is usually making only one coffee at a time, the manual grinder would save some space and the added time to grind is not a big deal. I use a Hario hand grinder probably 50% of mornings, but only for french press. I switch the kettle on, start grinding and I am finished before the water boils.

I would reckon the flavour out of these would be wayy better than those of Eureka's for filter

thanks for the video! would love to see some clearer info on time both in grinding and the length of your shot. a refractometer would be nice to see how the extraction went too? glossing over adjusting the grinder and how the experience is made the whole video feel more like an infomercial rather than a review.

interesting uniformity of grinding! And a lot of dust.? I love Turk cezve in the range of 300-400 microns / in this case, how much will it be below 200 microns?

So its kind of like the ROK GC grinder in size, handeling and grind time?

The price point seems to be just short of 400 € depending on burr choice. I would see this against the Fellow Ode 2, which I believe is at a similar price point. The Timemore Sculpture is more expensive and the hopper is too small for filter brews.

What is the benefit of airtight seals on a hand grinder? Is the hopper so big that you would realistically be leaving beans in there and grinding on demand?
