Maribelle: You've been courting someone and didn't tell me?! Robin: Well actually- Maribelle: Speak the name of my enemy and I shall smite the strumpet for encroaching upon my territory---I mean, what a delightful turn of events my dearest friend. Might you impart the name of this lady friend of yours so that I might congratulate her on her good fortune? *grabs waraxe*
Can anyone else just picture Maribelle dragging Robin to a place for etiquette and just imagine Chrom just watching him be dragged away? Chrom thinking "I better not get involved..."...No? Just me? Okay.
Robin: Chrom! Do you hear me!? This woman is manhandling me! Maribelle: Hush now, Robin. After your posture lessons we shall improve your speech... Robin: I speak fine! Maribelle: ...and then we shall comb your hair... Robin: Not my hair! Maribelle: ...and then I shall personally select new clothes that perfectly fit you... Robin: I don't like the sound of that... Chrom is just standing there red from holding in laughter.
This is why I like Maribelle a lot. She acts like she's speaking from upon some pedestal, when in reality, that's just how she is. She was raised to speak that way. Like a princess or duchess. And even though she acts as though she's looking down on you, she really considers you to be a friend of hers, no matter how you may look. I mean, just look at her conversation with Donnel of all people.
Funny how Maribelle is the only first generation, non Robin-sexual character other than Tharja to express romantic feelings for Robin BEFORE he confesses. All the other women don't show any feelings until AFTER he admits his. Maribelle only heard he was interested in "someone" and she was ready to kill that person.
At first, I honestly didn't like Maribelle. I thought she was pretentious and prissy. After her first support with Ricken though, she got my attention when she said something along the lines of "A noble's honor isn't measured by the size of purse, but the quality of character." It turns out Maribelle may be prissy and pretentious, but she really does care for people. Guess that's why I married her.
Maribelle's snobbery is a byproduct of taking her noble upbringing to heart, but she is also just, kind, and intelligent. In the parts that matter, she's a fantastic person, and her perspective will change as she meets more people.
Lena Douglas Yep. Exactly. In fact I actually like pairing Maribelle with Donnel. The noblewoman and the farmboy. Maribelle's inner character *really* shines in her Supports with Donnel, such as Maribelle berating him for thinking he's not 'worthy' of someone like Maribelle among other things. She may be a bit 'haughty' (if unintentionally so) but she really does have a heart of gold.
gamester512 another wonderful support that shows maribelle's character is her and libra. in it she talks about how after the war she wants to fight to bring equal rights to everyone, as she felt that it was completely wrong that if a commoner stole from a nobleman they got punished severley but if it was the other way around the nobleman's punishment was much lighter. she really is a lovely character, and one of my favorites
easytokeepquiet Yep, she's definitely an example of "Don't Judge a Book By It's Cover". While at first she may seem haughty and arrogant, it becomes apparent rather quickly that she's anything *but*. I can definitely see why people like her, though personally my favorite female characters in Awakening are Tiki, Severa, Lucina, and Cordelia.
+MesprittheDigimon I actually think her personality is what makes her attractive. I thought it would make her unbearable or unlikeable, but she's actually very adorable. And the proposal scene at the end is very cute and sweet.
He can use magic He can use swords He's adept with strategy He's named after a super hero Despite all of the above he doesn't consider himself interesting way to go Robin
Maribelle seems to have multiple supports where she drops these subtle or obvious hints as to the fact that she has feelings for the other character, they're all adorable and funny at the same time. "Name the strumpet!"
01:16 I'm not that interesting, y'know... ...I'm only Grima incarnate and the end of your world. Oh, and I'm also the final boss. But nothing to see here, carry on.
It's April 14th and I made a poem for dear Maribelle: Roses are red, violets are blue. Not in that way, but I love you. You make me smile. You make me laugh. I love it when enemies feel your wrath. For the cutest thing in this game ( that isn't Ricken ), I'll never understand your hate for how you are charming. I'll always admire you in every way possible, me not loving you is the impossible. Happy birthday to the greatest aristocrat/healer/damsel in distress/etc. ever, I wish you good luck in everything ever.
I remember this one XD It's rare that I fall over while laughing, but with this support I literally fell out of my chair. I was laughing so hard someone came checking to see what I was watching on TV. And it's nice to see that Maribelle isn't nearly as much of a stuck-up stiff as she first appears; she's not so much looking down on people as she is looking out for them and genuinely thinks of many of the others as friends. Needless to say, she wound up being my go-to S-support after first viewing that one. XD Also, she got bonus points for calling Validar a "weakling" when I paired her with Robin to help magic-duel him in Chapter 6.
4:23 *Maribelle:* "Wait... So when I told Chrom he was "a right sweet bit'a fruit"...? You mean to tell me that was inappropriate?" *Robin:* "That was fine, since he is your husband in this playthrough. But yes, it was."
+Some Asian Yeah, but Lissa is almost OP as a Sage. She can cause sky high damage and her healing powers are no joke either. Maribelle, o my knowledge, can't do quite as much as Lissa can.
okay I admit Maribelle is adorable! socially awkward due to her upbringing but she has a heart of gold, easily in my top 5 female FE awakening characters and I if I did not constantly marry to make my child characters uber strong she would be a serious contender for Robins waifu.
I'll never regret the decision to marry her on my first playthrough. I smiled during the entire video, although i already knew these conversations in and out
Tharja says "If you back out of this I'll murder you in your sleep." Same sort of warning, just taken to an 'extreme'. :P I plan to have my Avatar marry Lucina in my current playthrough and then Tharja in my next one.
I love Maribelle. Her condescending attitude and ignorant disrespect for the "unwashed masses" gives her attitude a humorous and exalted mien; however, from her conversations with other characters it's easy to see that she has a golden heart. In her conversations with Libra for example, when she makes it her duty to bring equal justice to all social classes, not only in Ylisse, but in all surrounding nations.
Ahh something about awakening overall just didnt transfer to fates..maybe its more anine trope-y and i dig that..even the cliche story was rly endearing. Chrom n pals adventure
It makes sense thematically, but on Lunatic you'd be hurting for wasting that extra gale force Donnel provides on Brady, who can already get it from Maribelle. Anyway, the Japanese version emphasizes Donnel's accent and manner of speaking with that of a country bumpkin, but Brady of a city street thug. It might look similar translated, but it's very different.
while others are talking about funny moments during this I'm actually interested in seeing something like a time skip where he's been trained into what she called "My perfect gentleman"
OK correct me if Im wrong, but is this the only S support where the proposal is actually a proper proposal? I mean it was planned and romantic and cute in a clever way.
Robin: Well then, ask away. If I know the answer, I'm happy to tell it. Maribelle: Oh, lovely! That's very kind. Well then... WHATS YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER?!
I cant choose between her and Tharja for my spellcaster Robin. But Tharja and Robin are both speced to DPS casters so maybe if I went with Maribelle I could have a child that would be a top tier healer? Idk someone HALP!
I just imagine my darling Maribelle talking very much like Yan/Jan Valentine from Hellsing Ultimate when she went to go practice her slang. *Approaches Chrom/Lissa* "What up, bitch!"
Maribelle: "Name the Strumpet!" Robin: "Well... its Lissa" Does anyone have an Idea, what could be the next Line or Scene in this Conversation?^^ I personally have many and would like to know, if my Ideas match with other ones
I don't exactly have any idea what could be the next line.. But name the *strumpet*? Strumpet definition: a prostitute or harlot So if it's Lissa, that'd mean she just called her best friend a prostitute! It's pretty funny actually.
Funkermonster i didnt even know this game was filled with all sorts of... adult-related double meanings... i mean, come on! isn't this game supposed to be at least T without all the necessary innuendo in support convos? xD
Another one with 'ribbald tales of the faith war', pretty much implying she's reading a smuty (that's what ribbald means) version of FE4. Also, Maribelle proceeds to kill you. Though Lissa/Mari/MU three way seems like a interesting thing to think about
Considering it's use is to either keep her from the rain or shade her from the sun, and I assume she's not lugging around a garden parasol but a personal use one. I think it's safe to say in the context of the game it's pretty much the same thing.
It's hard to explain, but I try. For me the words Maribelle uses are much more different from the normal speaking in german than in english. She also uses some slang words wich are way too off from the normal german (Some of the things were so old, I didn't even know them) I hope I could explain it a little to you (And sorry for my bad english)
Kathrin Kunz Huh. I see. And your English actually isn't bad for a non-native speaker. I would go into the finer points of a couple of mistakes, but I don't want to sound like an ass. XD
She is a sour human being but proper at the same time. after the c support and onto the b support I would have started being able to tolerate her and even bask in the fact I would be able to learn how to shine my skills as a proper man.
