First Crawl Impressions! Redcat TC8 Marksman RC Crawler Test - Holmes Hobbies 

So cool to see your motor come in an RTR. Rock on!

Everything about this truck is great except the steering angle. The knuckles are the same as the Wendigo which benefits from limited steering due to it's high speed nature (reduce flip over at speed and breakage at speed), but a crawler would greatly benefit from more steering angle. I have the same problem with my Kit Wendigo (I have a RTR too), which is set up for crawling/trailing (with a Holmes 550 Crawlmaster 12T!). The 3 and 5 point turns get tedious over time. Let's go aftermarket! They will sell!

The laugh says it all. Ever time I take mine out I’m smiling the entire time the thing is unbreakable. I’ve had mine added metal bead locks & other stuff but original electronics. It’s jut a matter of time before a really good steering mod comes. Ive ground down the area that limits the steering Redcat was saying to replace with flat head which they have done on some of there rigs. It’s not how much you grind down it’s where. Ive been running mine & it’s steering has improved after testing. I was at Pro Line by The Fire 2 weeks ago & out on the proving grounds I was the only Marksmen & only 1:8 scale that I saw. The thing is amazing. It out crawled much more modified 1:10 scale crawlers. It’s the width & its relatively low for its size. It also uses its weight to bully right through stuff no need for any brass here.And doesn’t bounce around. I’m going to be testing the radius using the same test that was done in another test on it.

cool video and truck i am new to crawlers, first year...did not knew that 2.2 was the norm some years ago

Part of it they have the steering hooked up to the short steering setting on the horn out of the box. Move it out and it drastically helps the steering.

I have those kind of rock piles all over my area they are great for crawling

After trying out your brushed motors I had to try one of your brushless motors. I just ordered the 2200kv revolver with the copperhead esc and really look forward to dropping it in my ecto and hopefully this week I’m gonna order the shv800. I’ve fell in love with your products so from here on its Holmes hobbies electronics for me. As soon as the crawlmaster mini gets back in stock I definitely need one or 2. Great video keep the good content and electronics coming.

Guess I got lucky.A friend Iv not seen in 10yrs called out of the blue.He had bought a fixer upper house.While cleaning it out he came across 5 large box's of rc stuff.Know I build crawlers and used to race 8th scale he brought the box's over.I opened up the first box it was full of new Holmes hobby motors at least a hundred Iv not counted them all yet then in the 2 other box's were all brand news esc's castles and several other brands never even opened and a bunch of servos all new in the box's and a bunch of other items.Guess I'll have plenty of projects to build.Even gave me a bottle of Jack Daniels from 1973 still with the seal never opened.

Fun one weak part that can use some attention are the plastic hex wheel hubs

I have the crawlmaster 540 13T paired with the HW quicrun 1080, in the Wendigo seems to work nicely in the rocks. Would a crawlmaster exspert 540 27T do better with the Wendigo far as low end speed n torque. Currently have a 15T pinion gear going to drop down to a 12T pinion later. What's your opinion on what would do good in the wendango? Have a great day John.

Think Redcat doesn't get enough credit in the crawler market. Hopefully aftermarket companies will make parts for the Marksman. I have already started looking at upgrades/hop ups for mine. now just waiting to see if you ever put Brushless motor in it. I'm really curious about like 2700Kv -3300ish KV geared down in a Marksman.

I wonder if the Gen8 portal’s will bolt on?

Its onsell for 339 ,do you think this rig is worth it to buy i have 7 crawlers including the gen8 scout and like collecting different trucks i mostly play around home on my crawler course and as always i enjoy all your videos!!!

Hi buddy I've got castle mamba x sesored esc I've got the drag brake set to 100% is there a way to program it so that if I'm driving fast or faster haha that it doesn't hit me with 100% brake rather than having to be really careful with the throttle haha awesome video also my man I do love that rig and the scale of the thing but the thing thats putting me off getting it is the turning circle from what I've seen anyway or is there something aftermarket you can do to sort that out yet thanks my man

Was at hobby town recently, they said parts are impossible and limited after market support and only good availability of complete machines , this is a zero for me.

At this point I have no shame, Im your basic 40 year old loser that the state cant figure out it Im disabled like everyone all my life has not hesitated to add there opinion! I feel like im going to be dead and done nothing, Only mark left on this Spining rock,is ability to make people laugh because I drive a SCX24 ! Any Advice for someone who "Toy Trucks Cars Drones that I never take care of " That BS But its what I get, Understand , and believe me I take better care of my RC than myself! I thought a midlife crisis was only for people like my Dad that decided He didn't want what he had and Would rather start over !
