The current A-Spec still look good to me. Even though I would be annoyed by the outdated infotainment system, I wouldn’t mind one if I could snatch it off the market at a good discount.

@@djsthemetereman You'd have to give it a go. I've worked for Acura for years as a tech, and this newer system blows the old one out of the water honestly. Once you get used to the touchpad, it's infinitely better than the old rotary knob/lower touch screen combo and I think it's the best system Acura's offered to date, just daunting at first. That's just my own opinion though.

Nice comparison man! Like many have mentioned here. I believe the one to get is the 2020 A-Spec with the 2.4L. The body style just looks more sleek and better proportioned. Plus I believe it will be more timeless over the years. It's definitely a head turner and looks premium. Even though the interior is a bit dated, the design and driving dynamics of the NA 2.4L VTEC more than makes up for it. That's is my pick. I will consider picking up one next year when the used prices stabilize. Still too high esp for the Apex blue.

I actually like the 2020 more after this... little things are just not right with the 2021... trunk button in the tail light? Turbo 4 vs V6? None touch screen? Red on silver tach Non-Digital Gauge cluster... Accent lights aren't an accent, They are just light strips on top of everything... idk. Overall the 21 exterior does look better but not close enough to the concept... So close to being something special but the 2020 A-spec or PMC Edition is a better choice right now imo.

The 2020 looks better and sharper. The ILX rear end isn’t cohesive with the front. The wheels don’t compliment the car and the exhausts tips are 👎🏽. The 2020 just looks more sharper and I’d take it over the 2021 a-spec 🤷🏽‍♂️

I love this car, especially the proportions. The front axle-dash:overall-length ratio is so much more appealing and makes it look RWD, which is the reason for all of that space around the engine. However, since Honda was going for that RWD look, why not just actually mount the engine longitudinally and push it back for better weight balance? I guess it'd be harder or even practically impossible to offer a FWD version if they did that, but I feel like most shoppers who don't opt for the SHAWD will be ok with RWD vs. FWD, because they likely don't live in areas with snow. That's really the only thing this car is missing. If it had a longitudinally mounted engine, even with a FWD-first platform, it could be like Audi does with most of their cards, including the A4, which is a FWD-first platform, but with longitudinally mounted engines and AWD that makes it almost as good as the cars in this segment with FR setups like the BMW 3 series, Lexus IS, Mercedes C Class, Genesis G70, Infiniti Q50. Although I'd still take this TLX over every car on that list, except the BMW, and when you consider pricing, I'd take this TLX over every car on that list, including the BMW. Overall, Acura did a fanastic job with this car.

I actually prefer the first generation amber drl's it's distinctive make the car standout. The 2nd generation drl's just blends in with the crowd same color kinda like every other car with drl's. But if I had to choose between these 2 then I would pick the Kia K5 GT. And if I had the option to choose the TLX type S I would choose the Kia Stinger. Not saying that Kia is better nor am I a Kia fan but I feel like K5 GT offers just as much a little more power and a bit more intuitive for less. I also feel that way about the Kia Stinger vs the Type S plus you get the better warranty. I just feel like Acura is a bit behind and for some reason I just don't feel all that excited about the new TLX. Maybe that has something to do with the fact that I've own a Honda and Acura product a couple of times and it seems as though the products they put out I expect nothing different or distinctive or outstanding. I think for me personally it's just time to see and enjoy what other manufacturers offer.

the 2020 has the details sorted better, especially the wheel design. I think the 2021 looks to be finished better as a Type S (based on photos). This generation RDX and TLX suffer with their wheel designs in “base” versions. I don’t think Acura should wait for an MMC to fix wheel designs.

According to J.D. Power research data, 65% of TLX buyers are men, matching the average for the Compact Premium Car segment. They are slightly older than average (58 years of age vs. 56), and they're making less money than average

No spare tire, No wireless CarPlay and android auto. No Pano sunroof, no touch screen, heated seats in the rear? The new genesis G70, Kia stinger or Lexus is350 is up next. Idk if Acura did enough. The driver pedals are still rubber on a aspec. Now that they’re doing turbos Lexus it’s basically the only one who will have top reliability turbos put more stress on the engine so I don’t know if this will be a great long-term vehicle like last year’s model

They're both amazing machines. Though Acura somehow always manages to miss something with every new model and idk why they can't see it? I always thought the '17 TLX V6 SH-AWD was THE perfect Acura. Hell sometimes I feel I'd even choose that one over the '20 and '21. Idk but every time I see the '17 it spells out Acura "Precision Crafted Performance". Light and nimble. The perfect balance of Luxury and Sport in one package. Sharp and visible from every angle front and back during its time. BUT of course they managed to destroy it only by deleting the exhaust tips as they were in the '13 TSX. '20 TLX A-Spec is SO so close to perfection but again ONLY killed by those less than sharp looking "old grandpa's eyelashes" squared off style turn signal headlights, by also keeping the '17's interior, and by also that it tries to look like a tool STI from the side profile view. The '21 TLX A-Spec is damn sharp for sure. The interior, its materials, and sound system are MASSIVE improvement from before it even rivals the Germans. That alone is worth the 50K price. That's where the money was poured into and that's where it wins in comparison to the rest. But 50K... for what... fake Civic Sport vents up front? even with the A-Spec's aero? Shitty smaller square fogs compared to the '20's full fogs? Shitty Civic Sport looking rims? Shitty Civic Sport "Type C Charger" exhausts? And not to mention the shitty frog looking Mazda 3 tail lamps?? That to me doesn't bring me Acura vibes. Like at least the '20 A-Spec front vents had slight openings and functionality. Sheesh Acura.... And okay not saying these things cant be modded to one's taste but having "Precision Crafted Performance" straight OEM and off the lot for 50K would be nice. THE perfect Acura TLX atm for me would be a mix of: '20 A-Spec chasis, exhaust, tail lamps. V6 SH-AWD. In PWP. 2.5 inch drop to kill the wheel gap. Coilovers. Throw in some Vossens of course. Wrapped in 255's Michelins. Full '21 interior. And either '17 or '21 headlights 😎 IMHO. One can dream right? Lmao PS: Don't destroy the Type S!🙏😅 Rant over.

One looks like a basic car and the other looks closer to a luxury ride. The problem is, they still look like last gen accord shells. The accord has moved toward but the Acura follows later. The luxury cars should lead and the mass brand should follow. They had something with the TL where that could sit next to a Benz or BMW without looking put of place. They should have built upon that.

Both look good. I agree that the tech and interior are nicer on the new model, but for me the stupid trackpad control is a deal-breaker. I tried it on few occasions in the current-gen RDX and could not get over how clunky it gets. It is even worse when using Apple CarPlay. At $50k for Advanced model, I would rather drive a loaded A4 or 330i for basically the same $. Both Germans have much better interiors and infotainment, better fuel economy, better performance, and offer a very similar interior room while being almost 10 inches shorter! I have a hard time grasping who Acura is targeting with this car? If it was $5k cheaper, I could understand it and accept the compromises, but they shot themselves in the foot at the current price as they don't bring anything better to the table than Germans.

They are smart, making this slower than the accord 2.0T, that way people that want speed but dont want to spend on Type S get the accord, people that care about luxury buy TLX base or a spec . People who want both buy the Type S. If this Tlx was faster than accord, everyone would just get the tlx obviously, price difference is smiliar accord 2.0t sport and tlx base
