Here's my first look at the Smith & Wesson Shield EZ in 30 Super Carry! It combines the features of the popular Shield EZ pistol with the increased capacity (over 9mm) and milder recoil of the 30Super Carry caliber. This little concealed carry pistol promises to be a hit with folks who are recoil sensitive yet want something with a bit more "oomph" than a .380.

I'm hopeful to see what they can do, if anything, in the pocket sized guns. Maybe they could make something around the lcp in size since the diameter is smaller giving more room for a stronger chamber/barrel and also putting more rounds in than the lcp currently supports.

Very nice m&p . Realy cool option more 380 acp but less recoil then 9mm but more fps and pentrashion then 9mm. Could looking at a new ccw option

I'm seeing more and more videos where people are saying the 30sc recoil is less than a 9mm. With all the videos I've seen of the 30sc HST round expanding and penetrating just like the 9mm HST round, I don't understand the negativity towards this round. In the upcoming 30sc Shield+, you will have 15+1 rounds of 30sc HST that will be even more deadly than your current 13+1 Shield+ 9mm, SINCE YOU HAVE MORE ROUNDS. 16 deadly rounds > 14 deadly rounds. It's basic math people. For every current 9mm gun you currently carry, converting it to 30sc can be accomplished pretty easily it seems. If S&W could convert their EZ line and Shield+ line into 30sc, then obviously Glock, Sig, Ruger, Springfield, Kimber, Mossberg, Shadow Systems, and Taurus can all do the same to their current 9mm guns. There appears to be ZERO downside to this round, especially in the HST bullet version.

Higher capacity, higher ammo cost, weaker than 9mm, making a smaller hole doing it. Pass. But nice to see some innovation. 👍

I can see a use for it. For instance, my wife is disabled and has very low grip strength and almost no tolerance for recoil. This would give her a pistol with more power than .380 with less recoil... and more reliability than a .22. I think THAT is where this pistol/caliber can shone.

@@BudgetGunsandGearReviews Sure, I agree. It's more powerful than a 22lr, which has killed thousands of people. It would be a great way to step people up into higher calibers too. But for SD, I'm more keen on staying with 100yo proven cartridges. 20% more capacity for a weaker cartridge isn't an ideal trade in my book. Hopefully the gun fight won't last to 11 rounds. 😬

The 30sc HST rounds I bought at my local gun store were exactly the same price as the 9mm HST rounds. It's also not weaker than 9mm. The 30sc HST round has more energy than the 147gr 9mm HST round. It's listed right on the box. The 9mm makes a smaller hole and is weaker than 45 and 40, yet here we are with 9mm having won the ammo war between the 3. Your statement should say, "Higher capacity, same ammo cost, just as powerful as 9mm, and penetrating just as far as 9, 40, and 45".

@@copper178 The manufacturer's box? The advertisement printed by the company trying to sell you a product? Wow. A reputable source. Those numbers and stats have long been held as sound and true, not debunked by many a chronograph as....optimistic. I will stick with my calibers, but I'm glad you are enjoying the 30sc. As stated, I like innovation, maybe it will catch on.
