So they invested more of their resources into this mixer instead of the CDJs? If I primarily played on vinyl I would be going nuts because this mixer is awesome!!!
Because of the USB hub, this mixer can be used with CDJs as well in HID mode. What's awesome is, when two DJs are playing, and both want HID control, it used to be awkward having a separate HUB which has to be reconnected to the next computer mid set. The built in HUB eliminates the need to do that. Two computers can be connected to the mixer AND it's HID devices, with no need to physically reconnect the computers.
Don't know why but I expected that scratch bank to allow you to load and scratch samples over the beat that plays on Deck 1, would be sick af. Also that smooth echo/load combo is insane... Great job Pioneer with this mixer!
If you think about it, that's what Deck Move allows you to do. You can move a track into the adjacent deck then scratch on one of the primary decks, or link them together with dual deck.
In LOVE with this review! I'm looking to trade my s9 now! And I appreciate that auto echo out feature you mentioned at the end! I can't wait! This way I won't have to constantly toggle the effect! Thanks!
the phono pre amps on the original were one of the originals short comings though not entirely a deal breaker they needed improvement. This is a good looking mixer.
Way too much for someone like me. The S9 really covers all of my needs currently. Sure, all the added features like smooth echo and the independent pad sides are great, but those would really be the only things I would use constantly. I don't use extra decks or anything and I feel most standard club DJ's won't be using any extra effects or decks 3&4. This is definitely something a dj who does routines would be using and definitely see it becoming standard at 3style and DMC.
This is an aviation mixer gone mad, the people on the flight, and effects are amazing it's shame I don't like 10" but I take my hat off to you , if I had one, you do this mixer justice in your last life you must had a pilot of some because, your aviation knowledge is a higher standard than most, and is any room for improvement. I guess not, apart working with 4 channel mixing, it's just thought. Nice one Mo. Bless you 🙏🏾😇🎚️🎛️🎚️🎛️

Great video. So much under the hood 🤯. Wonder if some of these features will trickle down to other products via firmware updates (after some agreed/predetermined amount of time).
There is 64 bit mixing and dithering on the onboard DSP as well as a 32 bit output. I've seen frequency sweep tests and it is very close to the V10's response. It is miles ahead of the S9 and other battle mixers. Wait till the reviewers start testing it.
The Scratch Bank is actually separate from the Sampler. It is a new feature that is exclusive to the S11. It only appears when you connect an S11 to Serato DJ.
The sampler comes from the software. If you are playing vinyl, the pads go into PAD FX mode. But you can however access the sampler by switch the channel back to software if you are connected to a laptop. You would just have to switch it back when you're ready to play another record on that channel.
i wwould love to see them smooth echo on the next ddj-1000 ( mybe called the ddj-2000 ) cuz that is a very nice add on to have ....i like the s11 but for a mobile guy its alot of weight to carry that mixer and turntables
the only thing keeping me from using my s11 over my rane 72 is .. when im mixing i usualy after a verse pop out to a saved 8 or 4 beat intro loop to start my transition , with the rane you can at the tap of one button ( and being on beat) jump to your saved loop . with the s11 you cant do that not with one press i should say , when you switch to the saved loop pad mode and press the pad with the saved loop nothing happens it just cue's up your loop but in order to play it you now have to have pre placed a cue point at the beginning of your loop ,switch to hot cue mode and now hit that cue point while remembering to have selected the saved loop first now when you hit the cue your loop will play . Way tooo many steps !!!! if there is an easer way i havent found it yet , so im sticking with the 72 !!
so it looks like a lot of the tech here is actually from Serato, it's just first appearing on this mixer - highly likely that a lot of these features will also be available to other Serato hardware in not too distant future
The 4 deck architecture, triple function performance pads, and smooth echo are not software based. A 2 channel mixer can't simply be programed to do 4 decks unless it was built to do it.
Got my hands on one of these today, used to using the colour fx from a DDJ-SZ2 especially the echo, any ideas what set up I need to mimic this on this mixer?
@@deebee388 I was thinking Seventy thank the Seventy Two Mkii drop then I said I’ll spend the extra for the undated flagship then pioneer went and dropped this 🤦🏿♂️
Im no scratch dj but i was Loading up for rane 72 mk1 Now its this. I need a fifth mixer in my Life, Just cause i got 2 kidney i can live with only 1. Got its shorted out.
Literally if you have your hot cues saved on explosions and have that echo effect on. You can literally play on one channel of the mixer alone haha. All you need to do is press the load button it will automatically echo out previous song and bam anyone's a dj. This mixer makes Djing easy for beginners and at the same time has so many options for people who want to be creative. Those 3 new effects of the saw and the other two controlling the fader. You can literally use the effect to tone play any song into a track. Its endless what this mixer can do.
Question.... Are you able to control/use FX independently such as, having a reverb going on deck 1 and echo on deck 2 going at the same time, like you can on the DJM909 and Rane 72?
hey how do jo go furder in the wave form in an song when you use the phase dvs system ? you dont have any absolute possion anymore. can you searh on the toutch screen in the wave form ?
It's too busy for me. Too many features, really too much. Don't get me wrong, the features are cool and all, but man, I feel like the focus on actual DJ skills is drowned out by all these features. Instead of making the essential features better, we get more and more "new"/ extra features. If one of these manufactures could just improve on the likes of the Mixars Duo and Traktor Z2 style mixers (with improved sound quality) I'd be first in line to buy one.
The sound quality is actually improved on this mixer coming from the previous S9. The thing about the tech is that these are "options". If you were to use this without ever using the screen, you still have a great sounding mixer with high quality feeling faders, and a durable construction.
