2022 bows coming at ya!! Heres the first looks at the new PSE Levitate 2022 Thanks for sticking a long! comment below your thoughts. What do you want to see next?!
Awesome job again. Really like your content. Alway watch your reviews for insight before I buy. Waiting to try an RX-7. Looking forward to that review. Currently shooting RX-5 and RX-4. Actually like the 4 better. Again great job!
Man, if PSE and Mathews were able to join forces, you might have the ultimate bow. Combine a V3X 33 riser, including bridgelock, centered cable guides and parallel limb design and 6.5" brace height, with a PSE-style riser grip. Then throw on the previous PSE Evolve cam profile, with tweaks from the E2 cam that improve cable side load and efficiency. Whew. That bow would be perfect for western hunting through 3D.
Also, saying this because I am one of those guys who just can't get along with the "jumpy" feeling off the back wall for Mathews. I love the way the PSE Evolve cam draws and holds.
I just picked one of these up. 2 years later...this bow at 28.5" and 60lbs is amazing. Most accurate (for me) once tuned that I've ever shot. It is a stiff but smooth draw cycle and extremely light and unique.
ya, not least bit objective. i am 59 yrs old, shot bow at 70lbs, by far the most forgiving, smooth, vibration free, bow i have ever shot, period! yes, price is crazy
Thank you thank you thank you! You can really tell the last few inches of the draw is agressive. Compared to the evolve cam system is it a huge difference? Also for the evl and this bow what limb dampeners would you suggest for this wide limbs?
I think the deal with the higher 'weight' bows (including the carbons) these past few years are companies keeping track of these reviews and know they sell bows. Moving weight around the bow to better balance and absorb shock/vibes stripped down like you said. If I strip all the dampeners and stabs off my RX4 Turbo it's a completely different bow in those categories.
I like your content and I appreciate the time you spend. Wts, I've shot that bow with the same spec and there is no lasting vibration like you portrayed. At least in my experience with the levitate. In fact I was shocked at good the bow felt bare.
Probably weren’t shooting a 350 grain arrow. That’s terribly light of you’re worried about vibration! I shoot 470-520 grains and it’s really nice to shoot. The draw cycle isnt the greatest, but you knew that before you pulled back the bow as he mentions.
Great review, helps me make a decision! BTW, since it's not reaching its advertised speeds shouldn't you trade them and destroy their brand? Lol just jking.
I would like to see you shoot the bows with some stab and sight to make it a real world feel on the bow especially since everyone is going to put accessories on the bow. Maybe some shooting at 20 yards to give a feel on how easy or bad bows shoot and aim.
Like i mentioned in previous comments cannot go wrong with Hoyt torrex XT one ! For the price and performance on a same test 330fps awesome bows without breaking your wallet! No need to spend 1900$
The draw is a little stiffer on the back end of the draw..Ill take that all day long because its really fast and quite (almost as fast as the Xpedite)...I have a mach 1 carbon and this bow has next to no vibration in the shot and is mouse fart quite..and when you strap these PSE carbon bows to your pack you will have to keep reaching back to see if its still there and you ll agree when you're on top of the mountain the price was worth it...there so damn lite and they shoot as good as any bow I ve ever owned...
Found a used 2008 monarch by diamond bowtech . Wow fellas . I ve heard they were awesome and then shot one . It’s smoother than my new Hoyt torrex and no fishtail at all . That’s why there’s none for sale on the market ? I think they were a grand and re selling for $600
This bow is tailored for western style hunters especially with long draw lengths. You can tell its a bit aggressive on the cam but what do you expect? That speed has to come from somewhere....
It’s not any faster than other bows though, 335 when other bows are 332 is pretty much negligible, you would never notice that. Plus it has a lot of vibe and not a great draw cycle.
@@ccleadge You clearly did not do your research. Upgraded bearings, wider limb pocket, beefier axels. Additionally the carbon is laid down differently and is supposed to have less flex and vibration. Watch other reviews, the bows smoking fast. There is definitely several upgrades you would have to decide if they are worth the change for you as a buyer!
Asked my local shop and they said early January. John Dudely has been hinting at new aluminum bows (replacing the EVL/NTN series) that will likely use the new cam system.
Enjoy your reviews on here but I have to say this one I have to disagree. I went bow shopping and really didn’t want to even try this bow because of the review. Watching that big hump at the end didn’t interest me at all. I shoot Elites so very smooth draw. The shop I was at had one so I thought what the hell. This bow at 80% let off was a way different animal. Liked it so much I ordered one. Like you do with the bow techs flip disc I would like to see with the Pse let off changes as well. Again enjoy all your reviews.
Ive owned a ton of bows and the levitate is my favorite all time. I got a mach 34 and sold it because I didnt see an accuracy difference and the levitate is faster.
I would bet that's how they do it for speed, lowest let-off might hit closer to 348. Also the ata being out an extra 1/4 I would've fixed that to be totally fair to the bow.
Really going to depend on some variables as well. Mainly length height and helical of fletching will all have an impact on it but as long as his tests are consistently using the same arrows/fletchings then it will be 1.5-2 fps.
different cam the mach 1 uses the evolve cam, this cam is new. and the ecs/evolve se cam is pretty smoothe while still maintining speed (my evolve 35 at 62lb with a 350gn at 30.5" has an fps of 325)
3" shorter, same BH and still slower. By the way I don't think that they are slow (are amongst the fastest in 2022), just unfaithful to the manufacturer claims.
@@Buran01 he’s saying the “slow” v3x is 97% accurate to its rating at 332/340 and the PSE is 96% accurate to its rating at 335/348. Those numbers are essentially the same, and the V3X would actually be faster. The end of the day it’s all personal preference to feel and everyone has a bias to certain bows. Both bows are fast and awesome, ones designed by one of the greatest shooters in the world and cost almost 2x the other. I will probably be building one of those bows for next season.
@@jmathis3 Designed? The Levitate is a Mach 1 with different cams, and I doubt Dudley "designed" anything aside of the logos in the riser. I think this year most of brands chose to lie with their IBO specs. Other than that, these two bows are fine but this year I'll buy either an Atlas or the Highline, based on the reviews.
@@Buran01 designed is a loose term. He explained in his video he worked directly with them, so part of the “design” team. Those bows are massive, I do a lot walking through thick brush and get into tight spots to hunt from a climber, so I like a compact bow. Tried a defcon for the past 6 years and want to get back under 30”
It’s weird because i agree that nothing wrong with 335 but that is very far off from advertised 348 IBO. All brands lie about speed. I only say that because the Mathews got 332 on a 340 advertised IBO only 8 feet off and he called that slow even though it was closer to IBO then the PSE. The speed difference between the Mathews 332 and the PSE 335 is negligible! You would never notice that. But he says one is slow and the other is fast.
Every bow he has tested out has been a little more than 10 fps off. Maybe he needs to recalibrate his chronograph. It’s like scales. Over time they loose some calibration no matter how good the brand.
It may be fast, and light, but hasn't everyone figured out that doesn't make or brake your hunt? A happy medium, a balance, somewhere in the middle....etc. has proven to be the best, most consistent bows on the market. There's a reason why Mathews is probably the highest selling bow in the country and they realistically don't change much year to year, other than fine tuning smoothness. Basically the same cam for many years now. And I'm now a Mathews shooter, but PSE even with Dudley, will never be the quality or consistency of a Mathews or Hoyt, and they want a fortune for that thing. If you haven't figured out you don't need a 3lb bow and 340+ FPS, go ahead and spend away.....just an opinion like everyone else's.
Mathews are the best sellers due despite their disadvantages overall they are still a nice bows with the best marketing, and a very good (albeit Apple level expensive) echosystem of accesories. But the three larger brands (Mathews, Hoyt and PSE) are lagging behind others in finish (Prime, Elite, Bowtech and Athens are way ahead) and lately also in tech (no rotating mods in the Mathews is a crime, albeit excusable to certain degree due they at least provide spare parts for decades).
As someone who owns a phase 4 and a levitate gen 2, the levitate takes it. If you’re hunting deer stands back east I can understand the appeal of the bland Matthew, out west the speed and accuracy of the levitate takes over.
alot of that cost is the weight reduction. think pse stinger (bare) weight while the carbon is fully setup at a simmilar weight. we have a stinger x (mrs), supra focus x2, evolve 35, carbon stealth 35 (3D open hunter setup) my 3d and the mrs stinger are near the same weight (8oz extra on the stealth +31" stab +10")
@@marklammers6117hoyt vtm. Dead in the hand , quiet as a mouse , 332 fps. Mathews v3x and p4 right there too… oh yeah and they’re a dream to draw back. Pse gets a big thumbs down
@@sticks7971 I shoot a Hoyt Axius Ultra as my backup/hunting bow and I love it. Shot/sold a Matthews Vertix a few years back and really like the v-series bows as well. My Levitate kicks ass on all of them. To each his own….
After shooting this bow and watching this review It’s very clear this dudes a matthews fanboy. This bow is incredibly smooth and fast. Hes built like a 14 year old girl and made it look like he was drawing back 200lbs haha. And he didn’t even tune the bow to factory specs before testing. 1/2” longer ata makes a huge difference. Terrible review
I've shot the Mathews V3X, and I prefer PSE. Maybe not this exact bow, but PSE's Evolve cam system (the levitate has the new E2 desing) draws smooth and produces equivalent speeds. I really disliked the Mathews grip positioning (it forces me to shoot off the heel of my hand), and don't care for the "jumpy" feeling on the back wall. I was prepared to order a new V3X the day I shot it, but decided to hold off to see what the new aluminum PSEs offer in January.
@@groundrootsoutdoors627 can’t speak for Hoyt but I don’t see a single thing he’s improved on PSE bows. He did bring over customers to them, but that’s it as far as I see
@@AA-mk4pu well I own the EVL and the NXT they have a lot more options for stabilizing, rest location, etc. than his NTN. I get it though he set it up for that western style hunting but I don’t see how it would help
