This is part one of the rebuild series of the engine from the popular video "FIRST START IN OVER 40 YEARS" Sit back and enjoy as we take this engine apart for the first time in a long time!!! I hope you like it! =)
I used to work on VDubs years ago as a hobby. Had several till I went in the service. Got rid of them afterwards. Very easy to work on. Fun to drive and play with. Wish i still had one or two of the older ones.
CT, been a few years since I stripped down one of the engines, but if I remember rightly, you need to undo the bellows underneath the engine to the release the linkage which runs up past the barrels. Great quality video as always. We are all still watching.
CT you're bringing it all back to me, memories of 40 years ago.... my ass end hanging out of the backend of my 70 bus frantically reaching for my trusty 10mm, 13mm, 12mm, and I believe the occasional 17mm.
CT I noticed below VW Jawbreaker have you the answer so I won’t repeat. If he’s a local you’re in good hands. Great video again and I don’t have a problem with you documenting every detail. Not tedious at all. Not knowing about that throttle cable guide tube tells me this is your first time. Document everything. Memories man!
hello from Venezuela... I am repairing a Kombi 93, myself, I am not a mechanic, I am learning. I will travel South America and I will go around the world with my family.
Ah, the old broken bolt/ stud trick. Usually results in the creation of amazing new adjectives, with the socket then used for target practice! It's about then that I realise that was my last (findable) 10mm socket! Really enjoying your vids/work CT, you're a patient man! Cheers again from Down Under.
i love volkswagen,., the very first car (beetle) owned by my brother, ..the very first car i learned to drive, that was during the late 70's...low maintenance and yet good performance. it earned the nickname "king of the road" co'z no other car dare to challenge its speed in the dirt mountain roads,...
Engine looks great CT!!! With the heads ported and polished, fresh plugs and electronics, and everything cleaned and repainted, it will run like a sewing machine!!! I like that Solex carburetor. Can't wait to see part 2!!! 😁
