If you're looking for a dirty movie, you've come to the right place. Much of this engine has been untouched by human hands for half a century. It's time for some mechanical archaeology!
Hello James, it was a pleasure talking to you at the filling station today. That bus is an absolute credit to your abilities and its great to see her about in regular, modern traffic. Thanks, Darryl
Thanks for the message, Darryl! It was great talking to you too, you certainly have a keen eye. Really appreciate the shout, hope you enjoy the next few videos.
Attention to detail! Nice video. I have a Type 4 that a PO shoehorned into my Karmann Ghia. It was also totally bastardised by boring it out to 2.4L, adding 44mm Webers and modifying cooling to 'doghouse' style, plus an additional external oil cooler. Nice to see the original of the species in this series. Keep them coming 😁
Thank you, Davy! The VW is still running really nicely. Although, I'm seeing a little trickle of gear oil now and it is starting to give me ideas for another VW series!
Julius Caesar performed a recce on Britain. On the Cymru he made this precise remark: "The country you will conquer. The people you will not." Cymru has retained it's language despite all invasions (including the current European royal one). You keep on, keeping your language and culture alive! go n-éirí an bóthar leat
Great work!!! I’m also working through an engine rebuild, your videos are a great resource. Would you share where you sourced your bearings for the alternator?
@@maybe1893 Hey there, the bearings can be sourced at any local bearing supplier, they're fairly generic... think I got those in Dicksons in Finglas... 👍
Thank you, I really appreciate the comment! That heat gun is a similar vintage to the engine. It's a 1980s-era Bosch. Don't make 'em like they used to!
