I figured it out. If you look at the laces when they are loose, they are pointed in the center, like the elastic laces are being pulled up by a string or something. It's just some clever editing.

This is a very easy sfx to recreate. Just like the ones used in the movie, you probably used some type of device behind the shoe that pulled them back. Power laces that fast, might dangerous. I'd bet the real ones will wind up slower. The spool system is in the foot of the shoe. I've seen the recent plans for the lacing system. Looks a lil different than the original patent back in 2011.

I have air mags and FYI they are actually worth it. They are really comfortable. They feel like Nike running shoes, which means they are really light. And are really well for dressing shoes. (If you know how to dress then these shoes are mentioned for you.)

what i dont understand is how this is from 2012 so i assume that those are the 2011 air mags so how do those particular pairs have the lacing system if the 2011's lacked them only the 2015 pairs have them.
