Put chicken wire over your chicken coop then soak some bedsheets in watered down cement then lay it over your chicken coop. Itll probably weigh it down in your next storm as well as providing shelter and shade and will solve the problem quickly as I'm sure you have those things already. It'll dry rigid.

Oh my! We just bought 10 acres in Cochise and prepping our move back to AZ from IL! Your family is one of several who have inspired us to take the leap of faith and go off grid! The monsoons are the main thing I'm concerned with blowing our RV to Kansas! 🤣

@@TinyShinyHome Thanks! We are researching and learning all we can before we get there in October. We appreciate you and others sharing their adventures as it helps knowing what is working or not. That’s a normal monsoon finally. Where I live I can’t have anything that could potentially blow away. Everything is concreted in the ground at least a 18”. We have very high winds all of the time. The monsoon rains are a welcome blessing to this Az desert rat

Wow, that concrete mixter does look a whole lot better after that chisel job! The chicken wire seems like a perfect solution to covering the window wood. You did a wonderful clean up job. Yet more COB. The kids took it pretty well. Flower beds with hyperadobe bags! That will look really cool! Too bad the small bags didn't work but the big bags look nice because they match the building. WOW, YOU WATCHED IT HAPPEN! YOU ARE HOLDING DOWN THE GARAGE WHILE IT IS RAINING, BLOWING, AND HAILING OUTSIDE! That was amazing. Music was perfect to view the damage. Nine nine looks so cute in the pond! That is a LOT of stuff to move but a very great idea to do NOW. Yes, don't strip the thread! I had that happen on my car so it stopped starting. After a new starter and new battery someone suggested a new post. Two of the threads had stripped and that stopped it from starting! Nice normalizing of batteries. Yes, you guys are a great match! Poor goat lodge. It doesn't look too bad once you put it back up. Poor chicken coop. I like the flower beds!

I could never get my mixer really clean. It’s a very old and really big mixer with a cast iron tub. No beating allowed. One day a friend asked me to make a rather large order of horse shoe art and provided several hundred dirty used horse shoes to prove she was serious. Long story short I tried several way to clean the shoes without satisfactory results. Finally I decided to just dump several boxes in the mixer and, what do you know, the shoes came out clean and so did the mixer. So that’s the secret to cleaning a cement mixer. You use horse shoes. LOL.

Maybe make your animal structures from steel and concreted into the ground. That way you can be assured in the monsoon wind and rain to come that the structures will stay in place. Kind of expensive, but with the price of wood these days, it could be a better choice. Probably need to get your storage done first. Gosh you guys have so much work ahead of you. But as a family who all works together, you will surely get this accomplished fast. So glad you were all safe.

Living in Oklahoma, in Moore, TDC of Tornado Alley it seems, I understand the devastation storms can bring. After May 3rd, 1999 wiped a good chunk of Moore down to bare Earth, leaving only foundations of houses, most of the rebuilds here are now Hurricane grade builds, adding steel straps, beam straps and stronger building regulations for new homes, and most offer in-ground shelters as a selling point now. Your Solar shed with those roof straps was a great idea. I hope you can look into some of those ideas for examples for your house when you build it. Ada rocked the music! I would like to see you guys let each of the kids to so the same, as well as participate in more of their own projects. You might have some future engineers or artists you are raising.

If you are going to have a permanent storage shed, it might be beneficial to spend a little more and build a brick vault or better yet, with adobe blocks, and use spray foam or stucco to waterproof it. It requires a little more work, but the end result would a room really insulated and solid that nothing can blow it away.

One way to keep things from flipping from the wind is dig a few 3-4 foot hole big enough for an earthbag . wrap the earthbags in chain and run the chains up to a mounting point high on the structure..Then fill in the holes with the dirt you dug out earlier... The reason for attaching chain high on the structure is if u put it low on a 2x4, the roof or structure can be easier pulled apart . just an idea. I remember seeing a video of a jeep buried in sand... They put a tireless rim on a drive wheel and attached a strong rope to the wheel and the other end went to the object buried 3 ft in the sand. They were able to drive out

I am from Oz, but have been in Phoenix during several bad monsoon storms. We would watch them swing around up towards Flagstaff then swoop down on Phoenix and past it. Quite spectacuar to watch but I was well protected in a motel as I was over there for 3 months on a work assignment. I got down close to you on Tombstone, doing the tourist stuff, but didn't visit Cochise county. Too late to give advice regarding equalising the lithiums.

Get that Office done so you don't lose anymore cobbing, and take care of those footings and drainage away from the feet of your hyperadobe/cob buildings, and have a stronghold for Monsoons and Haboobs. Hydraulic Lime mix will keep it breathing. You'll likely regret the cement, quit dinking around with "pretty", get the cobbing water proofed. Water, Housing, Food in that order. Consider this Monsoon a blessing. Education the hard way. Been there myself. "A Desert is a flood waiting to happen." Geoff Lawton

Ada's choice of opening music was seriously Incredible! And no, you need floors before flower beds, that way you can get the solar working and the AC installed. But for the small bags, maybe you need a 2 gallon bucket jig. Also I'd bet money that it would hold back the dirt just fine, unless you were going to go like 6 feet up.

A great way to retard a mix of concrete is to add *sugar* to the drum. Half a cup is probably plenty for an almost empty drum like that. You'd want to scrape off the upper drum with a 2-3" putty knife first, then make sure everything is soaked through with the sugar water. That's also a good time to add some big rocks to the drum, and tilt it so the rocks tumble all the way to the mouth of the drum and back. The sugar will stop the concrete setting process, leaving an easily scraped or tumbled and rinsed sandy mud. If you do have to chip cured concrete from a mixer drum, hitting the outside of the drum makes the best physics sense, often popping off huge sheets with a single blow. You don't want to make dents in the drum (especially a rental!) as they will rust and crack over time. Hammer is the easiest to way to dent the drum. A pipe is better as it spreads the load; larger diameter is better. A piece of square steel tubing would be best as the flat can deliver good blows without denting.d A good way to hold down things like coops is UV resistant nylon or even kevlar strapping. Look for it bulk by the roll, it's sold by width and load rating. At least 2 straps attached to heavy ground anchors and pulled tight provide good tensile strength, and play much nicer with tarps and covers than a round rope profile of the same strength. Those precast concrete post anchors with steel straps for 4X lumber make good anchors, and you can easily cast your own.

A couple of things I noticed while watching the aftermath of your storm. Wouldn't the greenstalk do better in a corner of the solar shed that gets sun? It wouldn't be right by your kitchen but it would be protected from the wind. You can easily replant them. Even way up in Michigan I will still be replanting veggies. There's still plenty of time. Re: bus bars, you may already know this but when putting bus bars on, do every second one followed by the ones in between so the bus bars are not angled but flat on the terminals. This may not matter in your case as you will be doing mostly series to get 48 V and so each bus bar will only be between two poles (I think, unless you are doing parallel first). Also you may have been just demonstrating you didn't have enough bars (copper pipe flattened and drilled works nice) without respect to how you would normally mount them which would just make me... picky. ;)

I see the storm removed some of the cob from the outside of the house . Is that going to be a problem? The other you tuber I am watching is using bags and they are not holding up very well.
