I always tell people to check out ALL of Pike Place Market. Not just the street level. It goes down 2-3 levels and there are magic stores and comic book stores and a store that sells nothing but wind up toys. All kinds of cool and interesting stuff besides just the fish and flowers.
Some trap stores as well. Be careful looking at any old cups and saucers stacked up on shelves in a few of them. The tend to be overloaded and I have seen more than one person drop a few trying to get a look at one underneath. The shop owner is always quick to demand payment for all the broken items.
The Mariners haven’t had a lot of success over the years but the fans still show up in impressive numbers. One reason is the stadium is one of the best in the league.

When I lived up there in 2010-2014, I used your videos to deal with the 50 degree temps, rain, and general homesickness for Florida. Now you are there!
A pig is a symbol of prosperity. Many large homes especially in the Northeast U.S. have weathervanes with pigs on them. The 'theater' was 'The Lusty Lady' which shut down in 2010. They used to put up funny puns, adult in nature on that marquee.
Cool. I was born in Seattle in May of 1970 and i turn 52 this month. Cool to see these places i would go to growing up. I hadn't been back to Washington or Seattle since i moved away in 1987.

I initially moved from Seattle to Dallas Texas for ten yrs, then to Scottsdale Arizona for 12 yrs and then to Louisiana where i am currently and i love it here. I've wonderful memories growing up in Seattle in the 70s and 80s. From the many beautiful memories of downtown, queen Ann Hill,, renting skates and rollerskating around Greenlake, eating st spuds there, my entire school years, fun field trips in gradeschool, fishing and hunting near lake Cavanaugh with my grandfather at their lake house, basically great memories as a child because i had very loving parents and family.
@@BennyTygohome Thank's I appreciate you're feedback, I lived in a condo for 27 years across from lake union in queen Anne. But after my separation from my wife things changed. I miss the walkability of Seattle with it's beautiful backdrop views , I'm a ex national bicycle road racer so riding for hours in Seattle is the perfect place. Eventhough my condo was paid for the high property taxes and high hoa fees besides having rude neighbors above me made living there impossible. I but a home in Henderson Nevada way cheaper than Seattle for one third the price and my taxes and hoa is also one third the price . With the money I save I take about 10 nice trips a year since I'm retired. Yes desert isn't the Pacific northwest but I don't miss the rain.
In Seattle you also have the first Nordstrom store and maybe the original shoe store the brothers owned that launched it all.Also in Pikes Market Place the restaurant where Rob Reiner and Tom Hanks had a conversation about he’s dating life in Sleepless in Seattle and also the dock that had all the boats that are live in homes where Tom Hanks and in Son lived in the same movie.
Washingtonian here also.... I was in SoCal about 4 years ago while it rained. Everyone kept asking me where my umbrella was. I would respond "I'm from Washington, I don't even own an umbrella"...lol
@@disneyqueen7259 I remember being in Disneyland a few years ago and it started to rain, the park cleared out and it was so empty! We were just running around soaking wet going on rides w no umbrella my son even refused to wear a poncho and it was one of the best days in the park.
Fun fact about the pig. About 20 or so years ago there were a large number of these pigs that had their own theme/ artwork, each one was completely different. They were all scattered throughout the city to raise money for charity. They chose the pig, because on the corner of the market near where they throw the fish, there is a brass life sized piggy bank that also goes to charity.
I also had the "when in Rome" moment a few years ago and stood in line at the original Starbucks. I'm not even a fan of "piping hot caffeinated beverages"! I kept the cup too!!
Back in the 90s my friends and I would go to the Market theater to watch Theater Sports, which was an improv comedy troupe. Joel McHale of Community fame got his start there. Oh the memories of 90s Seattle. Nice vid!
Adam you missed the football guy lol! When you stated you had gotten a shirt next to the fish market stand there was a gentleman in front of you tossing a football. He’s a local legend and will throw a football with anybody who wants too lol! You can catch him throwing to people across the street etc all over downtown Seattle. Been doing it for years every day rain or shine lol!
I was just gonna comment this! He was attacked by his place last year. Got stabbed a few times. Made a full recovery, fortunately! Glad you got him in the video!

FYI: It's not the first Starbucks... it's the oldest Starbucks. This is the 2nd Starbucks, but since the original no longer exists it's the oldest one.
Correct... but they dub it the first Starbucks because in order for a place to be in Pike Place it can't be part of a chain... and back when they wanted to open a Starbucks in Pike Place there were two other Starbucks stores open. So Starbucks closed the other two stores to open the one in Pike Place and thus not be part of a chain... the original first Starbucks was actually not too far from where the one dubbed the First Starbucks is though, it was at the corner of Virginia & Western.

Cool tour of a piece of Seattle...Gum Alley.....um that was unreal, don't know if I would want to breath the air in that place :) Look like Pike Place is something to see for sure, enjoyed the fish throwing. I guess rain is more common that not in Seattle, looking forward to your next video
Fun Fact, When your back in Berkeley you can visit the original Pete's Coffee and I think Pete's still have a store where they taught how to roast coffee to the founders of Starbucks. In bay area Pete's coffee still tastes a bit better than the students version. Just saying
Yes, one of my favorite origin facts about Starbucks is that its roots actually come from that original Peet's Coffee in Berkeley! The 3 founders of Starbucks were all trained in everything coffee when they worked for Alfred Peet, and Peet appreciated their passion for coffee so much that he basically gave them all his blessing, supplied them with his own beans etc and helped them out when they opened their first Starbucks store in Seattle! --- Just looked it up right now, the original Peet's still stands, located on 2124 Vine St. Perhaps the "really real for realsies real" secret first Starbucks location? depending on how you wanna look at it heheh

I remember going into the store the summer of '71 and met the owner who was just starting to roast a new batch down in the basement and for a newbie I really got schooled. Been a fan of Pete's all these years. Now, I do stop in and have a Starbucks now and then along with a few notable other new startups around the bay area. The stripclub was called Showgirls, I know this because my mom danced there. I’ve lived in Seattle for 40 years and I hate it. The tech industry came in and changed the culture. The punk clubs are gone, and we don’t drink Starbucks

I find it fascinating...so many cool places. I'd live there in a heartbeat! However, that gum alley was pretty nasty. I got a pretty strong stomach, but that was pretty bad. Love the video and the city! Yay Seattle!
They recently steam cleaned all the gum off for sanitary reasons and it's already that covered again. I don't get why people want to see it or stick gum on it. It originally started with people coming out of the music club and putting their gum on there.
At places that tell me I can’t take video, but pictures are ok, I put my iPhone on 16:9 ratio, and take pictures in landscape. They import / look great in iMovie or Final Cut Pro, combined with exterior filmed shots. Modern problems, modern solutions! 😀

im in the US and that gum wall is disgusting i had to fast forward a bit the longer he stayed there the more nauseas i became esp as he got closer and closer to the gum! lol

I was lucky - on a work assignment I was in Seattle in March of 2004 and for a whole week it was sunny and bright. You could even see Mount Rainier "painted" in the distance. 😁

Right on Adam that’s my old stomping grounds I lived there for 18yrs my brother still does and a FYI I use to work for A dealership in Lynwood Washington just outside of Seattle where I lived and the silent partner of that dealership ship wash Kenny Easley of the Seahawks #45 and they was the detail manager of witch I did his car and his next dose neighbor was Ken Griffey Jr . and met him many of a time detailing his personal cars and now he’s your neighbor as he resides most of the time in Florida now !😎👍🏻🦅🇺🇸

The bronze pig was put up in the 80's and is actually a giant piggy bank, the other one was part of an art instilation from 2001 where fiberglass pigs were decorated by various organizations and people and put up all over Seattle.
My son is stationed nearby at the Army base and we just went there for his reenlistment ceremony at T-Mobile Stadium, got a complete tour and all! I love Seattle! Also went to the Crocodile!
Seattle is one of my favorite cities. I was at that Starbucks. You should have done the underground tour in Pioneer Square. Also could have visited the Edgewater Inn. Historic. This is the only place I have ever gotten pulled over for not wearing a seat belt. The cop was cool because I was from out of town.
I saw that fish throwing on one of the episodes on Postcards from Buster. Looks like so much fun to watch. If Disney sold gum, all of the parks would look like that alley. Yuck!
The adult theater across from Hammering Man and the Seattle Art Museum was called “The Lusty Lady” and the marquis was famous for its clever signs with double entendres
