The entire generation of angry kids from broken homes grew up on this song, looking in the mirror and hyping ourselves up not to give up and to go for it even without having a single thing to fall back on,. Oscar-worthy indeed!
That’s what the Oscar’s are supposed to be. Not some elitist shit crapped out by people who don’t give a damn if you or me die poor but shit that pumps you up, give you the energy to give your all and inspires you to make an impact that shakes the world.
Yo that’s amazing man, I don’t even have my GED lol and I’m 26 bro! That’s a major accomplishment to me, good on you man and hope for much more success for you.
This was one of my son’s favourite artists. He passed away 10 years ago at the age of 25(Cancer). I live his memory thru you guys. Makes me happy to watch this even thou I have tears in my eyes. Thanks guys.
It is annoying that every song posted on RU-vid, has a dozen people in the comments, bringing up dead people who liked this song. Can’t watch a music video without commenters talking about dead people, it’s really really repetitive, and it just gets old.
I may be super late to this, but yess! I am 33 year old white girl that grew up in the trailer park. When Eminem started his stuff, it was like he was representing all of us. It didn't matter if you were black, white, brown or Native, he spoke to all of us poor people living in in the trailers. We are stronger because of him
@@OriginalPuro Ok, so to break that down for you so you understand what that means. It means that people who wouldn't normally listen to rap, will listen to Eminem. So he transcends genres. It doesn't mean he does heavy metal and rap. cool
@@OriginalPuroThe Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has taken on the role of recognizing artists and musicians for incredible lifetime achievements, transcending genres through their impact on music culture as a whole.
@@youmakemehappy7 yeah but heard it and seen it are 2 different things. The title is talking about watching this video which is what I was saying I couldn’t believe they have ever seen.
Thank you for the compliment! I did that piano work! Female from NY! Attorney now.... because of this song! Age 46! Yeah that piano work IS mine!!! Best artist I ever worked with before going to law school!
I feel like a lot of younger people don't appreciate EM, or always has to come with some bad energy or forced criticism. Loved how you show genuine appreciation without the input everyone just HAS to add like their 2 cents and its usually ignorant shit they say. Your a real bunch I can tell
That’s so much bullshit. I’m only 15 and everybody has heard of Eminem and all my friends listen to him. He’s really big and appreciated in all generations
I'm so sorry you've been through that. Thanks for sharing such a personal thing. I hope that some day you won't feel the pain when you hear this song 😔
I can't even imagine the amount of ppl that have made it through difficult times with the help of this song alone. It's as if the music brings out the hidden power sleeping deep within you. Timeless and priceless track.
“Success is my only mf option. Failures NOT.” … “So here I go, it’s my shot. Feet fail me not. This may be the only opportunity that I got.” The words still make my chest burn. I identified immediately with the “self made” shirt here. I was raised on food stamps and food banks, welfare Christmas’s, domestic violence, divorce, alcoholism, you name it. No help when I graduate high school. All I had was a refusal to fail or settle. This song makes me feel like I’m that 18 year old again, just knowing that life wasn’t for me. It couldn’t be. I had to get out. With nothing but a dream and a drive. I live a great life now. I’m a biopharmaceutical sales rep. I’ve lived abroad. I own a home. I work everyday for my family and my future. Someday I’ll have to explain to my children how I grew up, because their childhood is so different than mine.
I love y’all’s energy. I’ve heard of some actors and actresses who sing this song in their head before they go on stage in front of their peers. Isn’t that something. I thought it was great when he performed this song at the Academy Awards. Selma Hayek freaked out because she confessed that she sings this song before she has to speak in front a crowd. Eminem had just performed this song and it was a surprise to everyone. He was coming off the stage and she bumped into him. She said she freaked when she saw him and spit water on him. You should see the clip. Anyway, he ended up taking a picture with her but she was so bummed out that her hero was going to think she was crazy. The next day she reads that Eminem was asked if he enjoyed performing at the Awards show and he said, “Yeah, I got to meet Selma Hayek.” How cool was that? She couldn’t believe it. When I’m down I like to listen to that song because it’s inspirational. Great job guys. I truly loved y’all’s reaction.
Oh wow... I chose this for my god son when his speech therapist said he had to memorize a poem or other and recite it for him to demonstrate he was improving. He was 13 and struggling to not mumble and express himself, and when I heard of this task he did NOT want to cooperate on I thought THIS ONE will catch his mind and motivate him. So I found it online and downloaded it to his laptop along with a lyric sheet and walked him through the messaging from both 8 Mile and the lyrics directly. Then I helped him to learn the different cadences and speeds and patterns of sounds while being clear in his speech until he felt confident in practicing alone... 2 weeks later and his mon insiated I come to the therapy session with them- good thing I did, they forgot his laptop so I brought it up on my celll's playlist lol. His therapist had no idea what he had chosen and said to me was it llke a scene from Shakespeare and what was a need for audio? I laughed and said MUCH better demostration for his improvement- and suddenly my tense and slumping godson stood up straight and looked him in the eye while he said it was a rap song. The dumbfounded doubt on his face! I just said Listen and you will see, got a nod and hit play. It was amazing: he had been doing decent last I heard him 2 weeks prior, but now only 2 words were stumbled on in the entire song, he never even glanced at the laborious work with cheatsheet he held, and hit every shift and rhythm perfectly. He got a standing ovation by his speech therapist and I saw a rare smile. But the best gift of all was having him be so confident he wanted to demonstrate his skills to a circle of friends at school- which led to a huge shift in his entire friendships and sports and school academic experiences for the positive. From one single rap song. There is magic embedded in this work. I know it. And saying it perfectly and with your heart evokes change for good. ✅
If you can write a great song that doesn’t age, applies to every generation, and sends the same relevant message out to your grandkids as it did your own generation then you will never be forgotten. This is like we are the champions, it just remains.
‘’Cleaning out my Closet’’ came on my Spotify in the car the other day and my 13 year old started crying lol I looked over at her and said “What’s wrong?!?!” She said “Mama this song is so SAD!!!” I guess I was so young the first time I heard it I never fully realized just how damn sad it truly is.
My opinion, Eminem is the best lyricist, his delivery and style along with keeping his rap battle style makes him the best American rapper. His lyrics have so many layers and make you go back referencing events that took place 15 years ago and he brings then back and ties them into new songs. How many other people do that?
@@CohenBarrera-hy9fz we are all human and a part of the HUMAN RACE, a gecko doesn’t give a shit what color another gecko has…anyone telling you otherwise has ulterior motives….peace and love guys. Oh, and look into our true history starting in the 1300’s by POPE Boniface, his relationship to king George, and why the revolutionary war happened, and why the king owned France and British….oh and HAMAS is the civilian population of Palestine…and we are all gonna see what happens to Israel thanks to Trump! Long may the guilty parties burn 🤭🫡
when they made Forever and Kanye heard Eminem verse .... Kanye scraped his old verse tried to make a new one, he struggled for 2 days straight and his new verse didn't even came close to Em's verse ... that flow, wordplay ... geeeezzzz ... there's a video on RU-vid with Kanye saying this
The final rap round with Popa Doc gives me goose bumps every time i listen to it. Its fkn simple and mind blowing at the same time. Oh and "Loose your Self" is timeless piece of art. 22 years ago he wrote it! Gives me the same feels everytime.
My older sister used to sit me down and make me rap Eminem songs when I was a kid (2003 ish) to this day I still remember every word to lose yourself, mockingbird, hailies song and way I am 😂 so nice seeing your reactions cause I genuinely can’t remember the first time I heard a lot of Eminem’s songs!
When Kayne read Em’s verse for Forever he canceled all appointments for 2 days to rewrite his and still got smoked by Em. Old Kayne good but end of discussion.
I love seeing these rare reactions. Stuff like this is in the sweet spot of being new enough that a majority of people have experienced it before, but it’s old enough to have missed the major beginnings of the reaction age.
I am an East Asian, didn't go to US until 15 and won my first American Football HS state champ at 17. It was 17 years ago, and before every game, I listen to this. This got me where I was, what I did and who I am now.
I really loved watching your reactions to this song. The guy in the white tee has such a sensitive heart and soul. It is so meaningful and heartfelt that he couldn't go on with stopping to get himself together. That's how intense this is. I reacted the same way when I listened to it. It's too intense to listen to non-stop. Everything about this song is just great - the rhythm, melody, words, story, honesty, message. I just love it
The part I love the most about this video, and I don’t know if you guys will ever see this, as it was from two years ago, BUT if you do see this comment, I hope you do, please feel good about the men that you all are, because we are living in a world where it’s starting to be discovered that it’s actually more rare to have empathy and compassionate souls than it is to be some narcissistic. You all are cut from the good fabricate and I know this from watching your reaction video, because the fact that you all got teary-eyed over the storyline … THAT right there proves that you all have empathy …you have my subscription, I’ll watch all your stuff because I want to surround myself with content of people that are good people you guys are high value men not just because maybe you’re famous or you’re good looking or came about some money, but you’re high value men bc you will be viewed highly from God, due to keeping Jesus’ last commandment.. love thy neighbor, having empathy is doing just that! You’re at the most highest value to god. God bless and keep up the work you’re doing bc just those facts, that you may not even realize you’re doing, is huge in the spiritual realm. You have a platform you have an audience and you’re not creating misinformation hate or divide the biggest thing you’ll ever notice when you’re in the wrong is there will be confusion, which brings divide, then comes hate, and eventually the evil will start to destroy and conquer.. 😮💨💯🫡 just speaking truth, people. 🤷🏻♀️
Y'all on this Em train is excellent content 💕 I was already a fan of the channel - luv y'all's real talk & energy ✌️🧘🏼♀️🤟 Now let's get that FOREVER reaction 😁
Fun fact: "Lose Yourself" by Eminem, he actually wrote the song while in character in the movie 8 Mile (there is a scene in the movie where he is riding on a bus, and he has a pen and paper in his hand, he was actually writing "lose yourself" in that scene. "Lose Yourself" was the first rap song to ever win an Oscar, Eminem recorded the song in one take
Great reaction! You guys should definitely watch / rewatch 8 Mile and do a reaction to the battle rap scene at the end. Also, in President Obama’s book last year, he said he would listen to Lose Yourself before he made important speeches 🔥🔥🔥
I may be a late 40s white lady but, DAMN, you are the best looking group of men I've seen in a long time. Gentleman left front has to be my favorite...for what it's worth.
I listened to this song before I took my exam for my BCBA and I went in with the motivation plus the knowledge and practical experience and passed. Hardest test I have ever taken and I passed.
I grew up in the town em was born in, i went to school with his little brother and i know his grandma super well, so i have this weird pride/connection to his music. Glad to see people still appreciate the classics
If I could leave a recommendation. Please react to Eminem - Soldier. IMO it's the closest we've gotten to Tupac since he has been gone (R.I.P). The zone and mindstate Em was in during that song was wild. A real FTW type vibe and that moment where he does that Pac flow "I'm a Thug, wit alittle bit of Pac influence" is very similar to 2pac's style, candace, and beat.
It's hard to explain with Eminem but basically he's so good and his bars flow so perfectly but most people may not even realize why he sounds so different and better. He just understands how to hit with his words at the perfect time like nobody else. He takes rhyme schemes withing schemes and carries them through out a verse using his voice to hit like a snare or symbol. He is a master at it and if you ever read his lyrics you'll realize it as it's next to impossible to make them rhyme and work to the flow the way he does. There is a reason he has dominated rap for a quarter of a century now.
I been a fan from the get, but when I heard "...I cannot grow old in Salems Lot..." ???...Just proved even MORE that his knowledge runs HELLA deep on ANY level! If you don't know, 'Salems Lot is a horror novel by Stephen King bout a small town full of vampires - n it was written back around 1980
Even if it's not what I listen to every day, I love this song 😍! it's one of my top 5 Eminem songs! I have enormous respect for this artist!! when we know where this young man started from and the difficulties of his life (I have seen 8 Miles several times), it is proof that he has managed to break into this style, build his career and produce so many good albums 👍! I loved the video with you 😉! A+ 🫠

This song made me run. And nothing makes me run. Pure. Genius. The discussion at the end made me want to scream, ha. Can we just NOT with Ye? Like... no thank you.
Did you know that That he is the one who drove Tom Macdonald to start to do da same! Oh yeah As a H.O.G soldier I just want to say Tom Macdonald for president 💥💥💥💥💥
I like watching you boys nodding your heads in time with the most profound piece of music written in my lifetime. I am of Hawaiian ancestry, and I turn 70 on 28 July 2023 and I've raised two boys. Let me give you a piece of advice. Kanye, is that, that boy who fronts to an event with pantyhose on his head? I just can't take him seriously. Now, for what it's worth, Eminem has no comparison. His pain, his rage, and his heartbreak 💔 are heard and will always prevail. Love and respect from Australia 🇦🇺
My first thought all the time at Eminem reactions is, "There's no way this is the actual first time they're hearing this." Then I remember just how fast you're in and out in hip hop, so yeah, it entirely possible they never heard this before.
It blows my mind that people are just hearing this for the first time. I was so pumped the first time I heard it and it still has the same effect after the thousandth time listening to it.
Guys, I really enjoyed your reaction. Please have a listen to Kasey Chambers doing it. She's Australian, country singer, playing a banjo and if you listen to it all you'll be changed forever!
