I feel sorry for the people who have no idea who Steve Marriott was. The guy was like 5'4" but he had a voice that could cause earthquakes. He did this song with Small Faces (titled as You Need Lovin') in 1966 and when Zep came along and covered it three years later, Robert Plant - I hate to say it - basically mimicked Marriott's vocals. Zeppelin's version became more popular though, thanks mainly to Jimmy Page rewriting all the music, and nowadays people have no idea who Marriott was.

Double neck guitar- one neck has 6 six strings, the other 12. Allows guitarist to switch sounds in the middle of a song instantaneously. Jimmy Page used this for the classic Stairway to Heaven during live shows because he used both a 6-string and 12-string to record parts in the studio.

They took the heart of the deep southern blues and polished it off with serious rock. Led Zeppelin didn't just blazed the British rock road, but they paved it. Robert Plant (vocals), Jimmy page (guitar), John Bonham (drums) and John Paul Jones (everything else). Four of the greats in Rock and Roll. each a master of their trade. Their music has stood the test of time and still sounds amazing today.

I was going to say something like this! "Stairway" is perhaps their most iconic song, but "When the Levee Breaks" just knocks me on my rear every time I hear it. And honestly, other songs like "Black Dog" or "Misty Mountain Hop" have that same iconic LZ feeling that "Stairway" does, as far as I'm concerned. Plus there's the crazy melodramatic OTT-ness of "Kashmir" and "Immigrant Song" that are definitely worth doing reactions about.

It was near midnight. I was in my early 20's and LOVED Led Zeppelin. The diner had a juke box with some old country songs playing. Of course, I had to select "Whole Lotta Love". After a nice country ballad had finished - my song started. There were perhaps another dozen old fisherman in that diner. ALL EYES WENT TO ME when the song began! Just recently listened to all of their albums chronologically . You do this ,and they will be your favorite band. They blow every other band out of the water. These four guys were amazing together .

The Beatles were the heros of the sixties, but Led Zepplin were definately the heros for the seventies. Like the Beatles were the trend setters, so were Led Zepplin! There were bands during both decades that maybe made more money, had more hits, sold out more shows or had better songs. But, no bands put out more albums that had great songs from beginning to end then those two bands. NONE!! They were the mark!!

I remember hearing this as an 11 year old on my AM transistor radio when it first came out and being blown away! It was so raw, musically and lyric wise. I became a lifelong Led Zeppelin fan and am so glad I was able to see them in concert back in '77. Enjoying your channel, Jordan & Amber!

I will never forget seeing them at the Oakland Coliseum in 1977. I was 17 years old. Old enough to probably be Amber's mama now. My children who are 38 & 36 were fortunate enough to hear and appreciate all of the 70's music. I haven't stop listening even at 61 yrs old. Great reaction ❤

To fully appreciate this song you need to listen to it through you headphones. The effect as the Led Zeppelin channels different instruments to the right and left is amazing.

Check out the live version of Since I've Been Loving You. The 70's were all about sex and drugs and rock and roll, and Led Zeppelin were the Gods of all three!

Just when you are stunned by ONE new sound they throw another atcha!! It starts out energetic and NEVER lets up!! (The lead singer is Robert Plant!) (The lead guitar is Jimmy Page!) (The drummer is John Bonham!) (And John Paul Jones played Bass!) It's great listening to it again through the ears of a new and younger audience. And it's really appreciated that others enjoy it as much as we all did back in 1969!! DAMN! Was that 54 years ago?!

Robert Plant was the singer, Jimmy Page was the guitar the, double guitar, John Bonham one the drums, now deceased, John Paul Jones on the other guitar. The three are still alive and well and Bomhams son plays drums these days. I grew up to these guys after the Beatles they were very popular. My husband played their music everyday for years. You will enjoy all of it.❤️👍👍

I was at their Madison square Garden concert back in 73 and that song rocked, then. the singer's name is Robert Plant. The guitarist name is Jimmy Page the keyboard. John Paul Jones and the drummer John Bonham. And that show prompted me to learn how to play the drums and the guitar. That journey I took back in 73 I am still on.

Hey guys - Kathy here - so I was waiting for that guitar riff to start to see Rob's reaction to that! And yes, well love was mentioned, but yes it does mean what you think it meant! LOL And then at the end, he took you on another journey! LOL These guys were just such an amazing group back in the day, and they can never disappoint! The guitar - double head - top one is a 12 string and the bottom hard is a standard 6 string. Love you guys, peace out and LIVE - LAUGH - LOVE!

This is the greatest Led Zeppelin song. Now what you two have to do is listen to this song through headphones. The song moves from one headphone to the other and back again. This was a great song to listen to under the influence, if you know what I mean, back in the day.

“The song started off kind of creepy…“ Are you kidding me? There’s nothing creepy about that rif. That’s one of the best kick-offs of any song in history.
@brianjones5241
@brianjones5241 3 года назад
True! No creepiness, I think it just takes a little getting used to. The more aggressive sound than what the younger people are familiar with .. maybe? Nothing like this around anymore. Page’s haunting riff with Plant’s powerful and soulful vocals. Then add some masterful drumming from Bonham and the genius of Jones on the bass. Just an awesome sound that gets your adrenaline pumping.

My friends you’ve only but scratched the surface. LZ is much much more and worth a deep dive into their American Blues roots but among a collection of talent the world has rarely seen. They defined a sound that will live forever. Super nice people too.
