I love the line "when I'm empty I'm quiet, finding myself fiending to be fired" That could have a double meaning. He could be fiending to be fired as in used again OR as you listen to the song he could be fiending to be fired from his "Job" of killing people
Nas is the greatest to ever touch the mic untouchable aint no debate. Keep them nas reactions 🔥 this is one of the reasons why nas is the greatest nobody can do it like him.
IMO, it was stillmatic that solidified that for NAS, because after I am and nastradamous, the firm album, and bravehenart album, there where alot of doubters. Not me, but with stillmatic he let you know hs aint go nowhere.
Im convinced that this song taught other rappers and would-be rappers that the art form can be so much more than what it had been. You can be creative and switch perspectives and tell stories creatively. I think he wrote One Love from Illmatic and people didnt quite get it so he decided to really turn up the concept with this one on It Was Written. I remember after this so many rappers tried to do songs where they were some inanimate object. Even Nas himself has done it several times since. Nothing like I Gave You Power tho.
NaS has some of the most creative Tracks & Albums in Hip-Hop history: One Love - POV of Letter I Gave You Power - POV of Gun Last Words - POV of Jail Cell Fetus - POV of Fetus Dance - Best Hip-Hop track Dedicated to a Mother! Book of Rhymes - POV of pages in book Rewind - Spits story backwards Money is my Bitch - POV of Money Beef - POV of Beef Sekou Story/Live Now - Most people don't know Scarlet is actually NaS lol Project Roach - POV of Roach Fried Chicken - Just genius vision Daughters - Every man with a daughter can relate Concept Albums: Hip Hop Is Dead - Sounds better Today! Untitled Album - Will always remain relevant due to its content! Distant Relatives - Beautiful Africa Vibe! Life Is Good - 1st Adult Hip-Hop Album's!
If you like this track I recommend you watch DJ Premier so whassup I gave you power because DJ Premier produced this track. Nas did all the verses in one take and I'm sure made that serial number up on the gun right there on spot . Nas is definitely one of the best MCs we've ever witnessed.
This dropped when I was 14, copped the CD on my 15th birthday I think. This track stuck out to me with the line “my creation was for blacks to kill blacks”. That literally started me on my inquisitiveness on the system, how it’s setup, who it was really setup for to win, the European influence in this country and the rest of the world, etc, etc, etc. Nas is a deep brotha 💯 And at 42, this album stay on rotation…word up.
Y'all should React to "Beef" from his new album King's Disease 3! NaS Rhymes from POV of "Beef", some people feel it's a knock-off from "I Gave You Power", which is not because it's a different POV.
It touched my heart watching yall get into the song like that, great review, ima check the One Mic reaction out now, keep going crazy on more Nas joints! 👏🏿👏🏿
You guys need to listen to Black Thought Freestyle on Funk Flex, when that dropped in 2017 it was Trending on twitter for days and everyone went crazy about it because its insane

You guys should check out a song called “Baltimore Love Thing” by 50 Cent where he personifies heroin talking to an addict, one of his greatest songs 🔥
Fire reaction please kindly react to Lyrical joe 5th August 5 over 60 bars and flow switches , he is embodiment of weezy Kendrick , Eminem , 2pac Biggie ...
He inspired 2 pac's Me and My Girlfriend. Before you guys come for me, I ready this on a Source Magazine. I believe it was One of the Outlaws who said it.
I understand you are doing a reaction video, but listen...when i first heard these songs,i listened in their entirety. You break the immersion when you stop the song and have to reinsert yourself, its like taking an intermission during a movie. You only get one FIRSTTIME to hear a song.if your going to give a song a real fairtrial you have to be quiet and listen all the way through...if you made the songs you would be pissed that someone paused the song to go to the bathroom and came back. You can listen all the way through and deliberate at the end and we still would love your reaction video.but trust me you dishonor the artist by doing this, all reaction channels do this.Your not fully appreciation the song for the first time,it doesnt hit the same when you break the immersion.Trust me,i vividly remember the first time i heard this and it was a good ride...you dont pause a rollercoaster during the ride...just enjoy.btw im 52 y/o today and these songs are worth the straight playthrough.Thank You,i hope i helped.Keep up the Good Work.
